I'm turning 50 in August, married 25 years in September and have a 19 yo daughter and 14 yo son. Have tried loosing weight three previous time (Jenny Craig, Hypnosis and finally a medically supervised program at Camino Medical Group. In each case lost about 55 pounds and then eventually grain it all back. Hoping this will finally the thing that will stop me from regaining after I lose!

Just stopping by to say hello to my short friend that is getting thinner. Still exercising in the pool 5 days a week and really enjoying it. Hope you going to curves is helping you too. Amazing how loosing weight has changed my life. Lots more to loose but I am happy to say goodbye to it. Have a nice day. Judy

Hey, Dr. Esquival is doing my surgey next week. Just wondering how successful you've been?
-
How's it going for you? Do you have a date for your first fill? I haven't lost much (if any) in the last 2 weeks since eating again (not liquids). But they say this is normal, so I am not freaking out yet. I haven't been exercising either, because of the torn stitch, but all in good time! Hope you are doing well!

YES i went through that. I would wince if I moved even just a little. I am telling you, go to a medical supply store and spend $40 on a stomach support band. It will help you 100%. I even had to sleep in it. I am almost three weeks post op and am still taking some Tylenol because the port still hurts. It would feel like it was ripping out my insides!

Hey doodlebug11, how are you? I am 9 days out from having my bad placed. The pre Op diet is not fun but I am making it through fine. Since my surgeon has me on a strict liquid diet, I have learned creative ways with little. I added some spicy V8 to my broth and called it dinner. Jello has become my lunch and I sip water tainted with the liquid Protein bullets all day long. I feel good now but the first week was tough. Looking forward the banding on March 25th- Ligheterload

I go for my consultation on Monday and start pre-op diet on Wednesday next week. As far as I know I will have protien shakes, yogurt, and one WW meal for the 2 weeks.
I am 56 yr. old and from Illinois. I don't know if I told you that before. I think I will have 80-100 pounds to lose. How about you?

I wish these things were so limited in space....maybe we need to use the private message option, there is no limit! Try not to worry about the fill. I know every doctor does it somewhat differently, but I am sure he will use a local to anesthetize the skin area. Just don't watch while it is happening and you should be okay! So you are watching videos on youtube on fills?! Who knew! ha ha! Since taking it easy and resting, my port is much better. I can feel mine too, but not as much as I thought. They used a low profile port on me, so maybe that's why. I hope you have a great week and can't wait to hear more about how you are doing!!
Take care,
Shelley

Hi!
I was banded on 2/19 and the first week and a half after the surgery I lost around 10 pounds, but after all the swelling was gone I'm back to almost the way I was before and I'm getting hungry like crazy. Sometimes I eat things I know I should not eat and I'm not losing any weight, I'm scheduled for my first fill in about a month from now. Will it change after the fill? Will I lose weight? I'm very discouraged right now.

Hello Teresa - Its been one week since your surgery. How are you feeling? How is the liquid diet going for you? Are you in any pain?
-
Well I've lost a total of 21lbs, well it fluctuates between 17-21 lbs. I've been like that for the last two weeks. I go for my first fill on monday. I can't wait. And after we get our taxes back my DH is buying me an elliptical. How are the fills? Do they hurt?

Hi - How's it going?? Are you feeling better? I know I sure am. It's amazing after almost 2 weeks, I feel human again. Still sore around the port site, but overall great. I am eating some solid food now, mostly mushy though. I get my first fill on 4/6/09. So exciting! I saw your pictures! : )~

You are already gorgeous...you will be small and gorgeous soon!! I had my surgry in May and I have lost 88 lbs...and I am much older!! It will be a snap for you!

My doctor doesn't have me on any pre-op diet. I am just watching what I eat next week because my surgery is in a week!

Hi djzlady,
I have several friends who have had this surgery and they are doing great! I have been waiting to do this for five years, and finally made the move to go forward with it.
My surgery is in a week and would like to hear from you after your surgery. I am praying for your speedy recovery. I sound just like you......very nervous and excited all in one! I have some very supportive friends, but my uphill battles are making me wonder if I have made the right choice. First of all, I got denied by my insurance but was finally approved. Then I had a weird experience at the hospital this week. When I went for pre-testing, the admitting lady tried to talk me out of the surgery! Then I recieved a call today that my blood was misplaced and I have to go have it drawn again. Maybe I am not supposed to have this surgery. ???

maaaaan *jealous* you get ur 1st fill at 4 weeks?!!!! lol that's cool. You will have to tell me how it goes. Which band did you get anyway? I have the new realize band. I did schedule my 1st full appt. but it's not till April 1st. Yea my Dr. said just walk too but didn't specify if it could be on a treadmill or not. Oh well, I seem to handle it ok. Ellipticals are great. They are actually my favorite machine but I am hesitant to get on one till after 6 weeks. I think investing in one is great especially if you don't have a fitness center near by or its raining or can't get to the gym or whatever. I have a fitness center in my apartments which is small but no one is ever in there and its all brand new equipment so it's nice I can just go in whenever I feel like it and turn on the tv or take my ipod and just rock out for 30 min
-
hi deann!!! how has the band worked for you? I have lost about 38lbs in 12 weeks....my surgeon says I am right on track although i had definitely hoped to have lost more by now...oh well...babysteps right??? Hope to hear back from you...maybe we can buddyup or get together sometime....i live in Mountains Edge so I am just right up Blue Diamond from you
Take care!!!

Hey Debbie, sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I've been a little depressed myself lately. I gained 4 lbs back this week. I'll be honest, I ate something I shouldn't have but I only ate a little and I really don't think it should've caused me to gain back 4lbs
. I told my DH that after we get our taxes back I want an elliptical. Its just so hard to get to the gym after work b/c all I want to do is sit at home but I figure if I get the elliptical, after work when I just want to be lazy and watch TV and can be using it while I watch TV. I hope you're doing good.

No bother. I went on solid food way faster than what they recommended. I felt like I healed up super fast and never had an issue with nausea whatsoever. I did about 5 days liquid post op then about 3 days of mushies and then regular food after that. I can eat cheeseburgers, pizza, etc. right now and I don't think it's a big deal because I'm not filled yet. I figure this is my last chance to eat "normal" food so i'm enjoying myself for the next week. Once I get filled I'll be much more strict with myself. I figure, since the time between surgery and your first fill is for healing...not dieting. So that's what i'm doing.
PS - I do chew very slowly now and i find myself getting fuller much faster. I can probably eat about 50% of what I used to and I do wait until after i've eat to drink anything.
