  1. Tried on cute winter boots this year and couldn't buy ANY except super short ones because my short fat legs would not fit into any of them. I was mortified and my husband felt terrible for me! I am 10 weeks from being sleeved in Mexico and I'm focusing on positive things like this. I want to be able to fit my calves into some cute boots this coming winter!!

Froggi, that is fantastic. Way to go. I am in a tight 16. I can zip them so I figure why not wear them. Great NSV
  8. Some friends and my husband went to Cheesecake Factory last night. Don't get excited, I scoured the nutritionals and finally found a appetizer salad for 390 cal. It was not easy to find something if you go there but it was very good. Now to my NSV. My husband and I were sitting in the booth part of a table that had two chairs and no one was sitting next to me on my side. Later I needed to go to the rest room. I carefully got up and before weight loss I had to turn sideways and be very careful that my big butt did not land on the other people's table. Last night I walked out straight on. No sideways, no getting in people's food. It was great.
  9. I went shopping today which I really have not done the store has a plus side and regular side started going to the plus side and my friend stooped me I tried on a pair of size 12 capris which fit in 2 months went from a size 18w to a 14-12. It is amazing down 38lbs tom I start going to the y. Can't wait to see where I end up. I also follow the rules Protein first and have not played around by eating things with empty calories I am so glad I did this have not gotten sick and felt good since day one Sent from my SPH-D700 using VST
  10. So, for the longest time I didn't actually know what an NSV was, so one day I finally asked and I was like, ohhhhhh, it would have been helpful to know that earlier in the process! I have based my successes largely on the scale numbers. Getting under 200 was exciting, getting under 137 when I was no longer classified as “overweight” was great, and currently I am floating right above 129, which was my original goal weight. I go from 130-132 and then back to 130 and then back to 131 or 132. It is frustrating, however I am now complaining about weighing, on a bad day, 132 pounds, and that is something I should really be happy about. Past the fact that I have largely focused on scale-victories, in the last week I have realized that I now fit into all of the extra small shirts, even in the juniors section, which has resulted in buying all kinds of stuff I don’t really need, exclusively because I am totally stoked to be an XS (on the top at least). I bought a new pair of those Nike leggings in a size small, which made me ecstatic, but then I found a matching jacket, in an extra small, and it fits perfectly- not like I’m busting out of it like I imagined. I also picked up a sweatshirt that I held up and thought “there is no way this is an adult xs, this wouldn’t fit a child” and yet when I tried it on, not only did it fit, but it was kind of baggy! Given that I am currently annoyed with my lack of scale victory, particularly given I am so close (and yet seemingly so far) from goal, I thought I would share for the first time an NSV and potentially remind myself that feeling good about my size is not something that needs to be purely dictated by the scale.
  11. Congrats!!! I think those are the best type of NSV's because they show how our day-to-day lives change after the weight loss. It's the little things that we deal with that were so challenging before. Its wonderful to realize you accomplished something that you couldn't before. As for the shoes... my shoe size dropped! I lost in width and technically length. I don't think my feet are actually shorter, but rather I was wearing them too long before instead of going up in width. I think many people who have "wide" feet actually have double or triple wide feet, and instead of going through the process of getting fitted properly and trying on dozens of shoes in the "correct" size and none of them ever fitting... we just go up a size in length to make up the difference. At least that's what I think happened with me.
  12. Congrats on your NSV!!!!!!! I can't wait till someone calls me skinny!

    Funny NSVs!

I had a wonderful day of NSV's last night. With my hypermobility, I had really come to dread having a bath. Not only was the extra weight putting more pressure on my joints, but the bath was getting rather snug! Which made it more difficult for me to get out of! Well, last night I set myself in my bath and discovered I know longer had to squeeze into it, infact I could gently sway, there was a space either side of me! Also, the chore that was shaving legs, suddenly was easier! My legs weren't being kept away from me by my tummy! There was no awkward spots being missed. (this is one bit my hypermobility is good for.)I was able to stretch my leg to the point where it oculd touch my shoulder, extreme I know but I can't remember I was last able to do tha! I know that these are small NSVs, but it is a great heart warmer for me. I do look at myself nearly every day, wishing to see drastic changes nad being disappointed. Which I know is silly. The last remenants of my hope that I would lose all the weight with a snap of my fingers, is dwindling day by day and the reality is settling in comfortably! Just as it takes 4/6 weeks for the healing to complete, it is also a healing process of the mental kind. I am regaining control of my eating and my life. It is a day by day process but is still the best thing, apart from haivng my son! I'm even contemplating the possibility of dating! Now note, this is just contemplation, it's not just the weight that is holding me back from a realtionship but is most definitey a factor. Being single does have some fantastic advantages lol!
  14. Wow! what an amazing NSV, don't you think? This is really wonderful, wonder-full. I'll be chearing you on from Idaho!

    My little NSV's

    Awesome!! Nsv's rock!!
  16. I think this might be my first NSV---->Had a block party with all my neighbors. food all around and I brought a shrimp salad (yum) I had about a fourth of a cup and had my Water bottle with me. One of my neighbors told me don't be shy. GET IN AND EAT..I had to laugh, I've never had people try to force food on me before. They were eating burgers, hot dogs ,deserts and alcohol. I was not even tempted to go there. Throughout the night I got positive comments. What a journey!

    Is this a NSV?

Congratulations on your NSV. So, what was in that shrimp salad.

    Is this a NSV?

I think temptation issue is one of the biggest NSV's. It's the one we worry about the most before surgery and with all diets or WL events of in the past. To be able to change our eating habits and not be tempted by food laying all about, is a tremendous victory. It's the assurance that our lives have finally changed and food will not rule us anymore. Congratulations.
  19. Awesome!! Congrats!! To me Clothes are the best NSVs - they give you instant pleasure when you realize the surgery has made all the difference in your life!! Would you believe me if I say I've NEVER worn a jeans and T in my life? I live in India and I always wear our 'traditional' clothes (Salwar Kameez - if you would like to google it ) I've dreaded wearing jeans coz my thighs are huge and I always felt like jeans would look too odd on me. I cant wait to lose inches in my thighs and wear my first pair of jeans & T !!! LOL

    My first NSVs!-updated with pictures

Hey Sasi, great NSV's!!! Congrats I bet you're feeling amazing! As far as the pictures, you will have to resize them on your program or whatever you're using to edit your photos on your computer. I just use simple ole MS Paint, it does everything I need it to. I usually Stretch/Skew to 25% and that seems to work perfectly. I hope to see some updated photos soon!!!
  21. GREAT NSV's! I have not changed sizes yet but hope it will be very soon! Keep up the good work!
  22. That is an awesome NSV - congrats !!! I've never owned a LSB so am very much looking forward to doing that myself.
  23. Had to shopping this weekend to buy a dress for a friends wedding. The last time I had to buy a dress I was crying, because I couldn't find anything in my size. Anyway, I found not only 1 dress but 3 dresses that fit and looked great and they were Size 12 I was 18's. (Since Oct). I also bought 2 medium shirts (from Charlotte Russe). I would have never tried these sizes because I still don't see what everybody else sees, and my weight has stayed pretty much the same for the last month, (my friend made me). I was so excited. It upped my motivation again.

    Non scale victories

my NSV is fairly small, being that i'm only 4 days out from surgery. BUT... prior to surgery I was taking 10 prescription pills a day, and today I am down to one-half of one pill. WHOO HOO!!!!!!!
