You will get very many varied responses, particularly as you posted the same thing four times. Doesn't sound like you took your investigatins further when your weight lost stalled. Have you now? Had an endoscope? Not sure what thoughts you are after? But if you want a bypass revision, talk to your doctor and get a referral to a surgeon and discuss your surgery options. But you one step ahead of where you've been for the past few years and its a start.

Stricture or hernia...oh my
nomorefattypatty replied to NYJenn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah it's not just a stricture it ended up being a hiatal hernia so I'm doing tests to revise to the bypass. Should be ok, not anticipating too many problems. Sent from my N9560 using BariatricPal mobile app -
The fat content. I had a band and never worried about my fat intake for the day. Now all of a sudden since I got revised to the sleeve I have to track my fat (wasn't losing any weight at all the first couple months after revision surgery). Basically, when my NUT looked at my food log from my fitness pal she noted that I was having peanut butter or cheese every day and called them basically solidified fat and said I needed to drop them. I LOVE cheese and nuts so I still have htem in moderation (like a slice of cheese in my wraps for lunch) but miss just snacking on them. Then I stopped losing again and discovered that my sodium was over 3000mg a day with the food I was making to bring to work so now I have to watch that too. My snack options have just dwindled to where I have NO CLUE what to eat. No matter what my surgeon/NUT say I can't eat just 3 meals with no snacks, I get hungry.

for those of you that had band to sleeve in 1 step
Kami63 replied to socalfosh's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had mine deflated for 3 years due to problems. The preop was only hard the first few days then got so much easier. I got a revision from band to sleeve in one. My surgeon usually does it in two but I had n insurance situation so he accommodated me. What did they say when you demanded the unfill? -
for those of you that had band to sleeve in 1 step
Kristina J. replied to socalfosh's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well when I had dilation and prolapse, my band was emptied for 3 months to heal. After 3 months it looked much better and we started re-filling again. So it made sense to me that if I emptied it again before my revision, that it would be in better condition, therefore making my surgery easier. I emptied 2 months pre-op, and had a great single surgery revision. Almost 3 months out now from my single surgery revision. Surgery itself was a breeze (50 minutes) and my recovery after has been pretty easy the whole time. That being said though, there are doctors that just don't believe a single surgery revision is ever safe and won't do them. I was self pay, so the possibility for a safe single surgery was very important to me. In your case, it's frustrating, but best to just listen to your surgeon. Patience is a necessary evil all the way through this journey. Consider it some extra practice Best of luck!!!! -
Trying To Decide
StrangelyNormal replied to CaliGirly619's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My sister loves her lap band. She got it in '02, so this summer will be 10 years. she lost her weight slow and steady, going from a size 28 to a size 7. She had to have a tummy tuck and has hanging skin on her arms and thighs and has not had a single issue with her band BUT has said numerous times that if the sleeve had been an option then she'd have had it. She'd have lost the weight faster and wouldn't have to live with that "stuck" feeling. plus she has seen so many others having scar tissue built up/revisions that it would have turned her to the sleeve. -
Had my band to sleeve revision almost 9 weeks ago, was at a party last night and passed out. I had one small drink, turns out I was severely dehydrated. I swear I thought I was drinking enough during the day, I guess not. My urine was brown. Fluids are so important even further out u go. I gotta be more careful. Just want to remind people, if you aren't eating, you need to be drinking!

Well apparently, biological kids aren't really an option for me, apparently - which is fine. In fact, I'd hope they'd just take out all the stuff that's not working correctly for me haha. (the malfunction of my girly stuff isn't due to weight) Its come down to an insurance coverage question, really. I want the sleeve but will settle for the band if I _have_ to - and then pay for the sleeve revision later if need be. I don't have the funds to do it now but hopefully in the future.

Trying to decide...
mickally replied to GADeltaDawn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the vertical sleeve in October 2013. Now I'm having a revision to gastric bypass because I can not get the reflux under control. Had I known what I know now about reflux and the sleeve not being the best choice I would have just had the bypass and saved myself from a second surgery. -

Band Failed - Should I get the sleeve?

Band Failed - Should I get the sleeve?
Tiffykins replied to petepotamus's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a band to sleeve revision, and knew that I would not be successful in my weightloss efforts without surgical intervention. I chose the sleeve vs. RNY for these reasons: 1) instant restriction (no maintenance, fills, unfills) 2) No malabsorption issues 3) Little to no stomach stretching 4) Portion control with the ability to eat what I wanted I couldn't be happier with my results with the sleeve, and know in my heart of hearts that I made the right decision for my life. I wish you the very best, and welcome to the forum. There are a lot of band to revision patients on the board, and you'll probably get lots of input. -
Band to sleeve one surgery or two?
ebonymc replied to My3angels031703's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My Dr. told me that It would be a little higher risk to do both at the same time, but it would also cost less to do it at the same time. I had my band removed 2.5 years ago and my comorbidities are now worse especially my B/S. I'm going through the process over again and will now meet with my surgeon again in 4 weeks for sleeve surgery. I don't weigh a whole lot at this time, but need to do this for health reasons. I hope you get to the right place with your revision and things get better for you very quickly.... -
Band to sleeve one surgery or two?
dlkumes replied to My3angels031703's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was banded in 2013 and it slipped. Most like due to the fact that I continued bad habits like bread, rice and other junk. I had the band removed and revised to a sleeve on jan 23rd. I feel great. 1st week was the worst. Pain from where the port was. My surgeon was excellent. He said there was a lot of scar tissue but he was able to it. Weight loss is slower due to this being my second surgery but loss is a loss and I will take it. Not screwing up this time. Good luck!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Hello Blondie311, I had a sleeve to bypass on Feb. 3. I had my revision to help with my reflux and it has taken it away. That being said please call your doctor your reflux should not be getting worst.

Update 16 months out, down 100lbs! (photos)
thisisthenewme replied to thisisthenewme's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It was hard! But totally worth it. I’m 6 months out from that and the incision on my butt/back is still numb and tingly and I think still a little swollen! I will need a revision for some additional skin left at the top of my stomach but otherwise....totally worth it! -

Don't be alone. There are hundreds of us on here who have been where you are. I am not a band to sleeve revision, but I know what it's like to have no familial support. It sucks. But we're all here to have a natter with if you're feeling crappy or despondent. You never know, we may even be able to raise a smile or three. I know it's not nice to feel like an island - but you're not an island. You have us mad lot backing you up. Whether you like it or not x -
Sleeve VS RNY (Any advice welcome!)
Neens replied to Road2Newme3's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well what happened to me was that I wanted the sleeve, but i had severe GERD and my esophagus was already hurt because of it, so my Surgeon advised me against it because I most likely would have to get a revision. This was not what I was expecting but I didn't want to risk going through this surgery twice. Today I'm almost two months post op and really happy with my RNY. So you do your research and make your own decision but also listen to your doctor's advice because they know better. -
*Susan* revision from band to sleeve
*susan* posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had my band placed on in April, 2006. The first year was a breeze and I lost a ton of weight. In month 13 of my journey, I was overfilled and slipped my band. Since then, I seemed to have developed an intolerance for my band. I have slipped it twice, constantly choke on my food, and have been miserable. On April 2nd, I will be revising from the lapband to the gastric sleeve. Dr. Aceves will be doing the revision in Mexico. I have decided to chronicle my experience here, so others that have band issues and decide to convert can have an idea of what to expect. I spoke with Nina, the patient coordinator yesterday and we now have everything scheduled. I am excited and nervous all at the same time. I will leave here on April 1st, have my surgery on the 2nd and return home on the 5th. My mother will be accompanying me on the trip. Nina advised me that Dr. Aceves is concerned about swelling due to the problems I have had with my band. Therefore, I am going this week for a complete unfill. Then, seven days before my surgery, I have to go on a complete liquid diet. This should alleviate any swelling issues and the chances of having to have the band removed and then go back at a later date for the sleeve. It is very important to me that I get this all done at the same time. I am looking forward to this, and feel like I have been given a new opportunity at life. To those who have helped me to be able to get the sleeve, thank you. Because of you, I now am looking forward to enjoying life again, instead of living in misery. I will update as I go through this journey. -
*Susan* revision from band to sleeve

I recommend vitalady.com for ordering samples. You may still like what you like now, but sometimes the surgery changes our tastes at first. I don't know if it's the same for a revision. Maybe WASa can weigh in since she's been there. I just liked having samples around so All "unflavored" does have a taste but some of them are pretty mild and the food you put them in does hide it for the most part. Unfortunately, I didn't write down the same of my favorite so now I can't find it again! I am going through everything I ordered and ordering another sample so I can figure it out. -
Yes Dr. Kelly is $5500 although since I am a Lapband revision mine is $6000 and then if I get my endoscopy there its another $400. They have to do that in order to determine if this will take me one operation or two. I'm praying one so I don't have to pay another $5500! Nursemichele613, we'll be flying in from Washinton State. Oh good, to know someone here will be same day! We have to keep in touch, ok? This forum is great.

Surgery on Monday and I'm Having Problems!
bunnyboop replied to bunnyboop's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Glad to know I'm not the only one obsessed with their bowels at the moment. I'm feeling upset right now, because I just read that revisions (band to RNY), can only be done in 50% of cases due to adhesions. Once the surgeon gets in there and sees all the scarring, they can only do a RNY 50% of the time. My surgeon never said a thing about that as a possibility. Nothing I can do about it now, but I sure hope I don't come out surgery on Monday with no band (I do want the band out -- I hate that thing), and no RNY. -

Why did you have to have your band revised? Slippage? Is there anything we can do to avoid this? -
They are doing a revision because of problems im having so maybe that will jump start the weight loss!
