I am still going through the process for this surgery. I feel alittle alone at this. I am not telling my family about the surgery. I dont want to worry my Mom.

  5. Hello All Bandsters. It's been a while...like 4 mos since I talked to anyone. Lost about 40#s but actually need another fill. I contemplated loosing on my own but had been maintaining between 103 and 109 kg's Started at 123.1. Now I need my next fill which is Monday 21 Feb 11. The cold months sure puts a damper on appetites. Gearing up for some serious weight loss now. READY AGAIN.

  10. Cont'd...

To be fair though I should state that I was solid to begin with, even at my highest weight I was solid not loose and flabby. After my last major weightloss (pre-surgery) I started to get cellulite, but I've found massage and exercise quickly gets rid of it... in fact I was able to wear a jean mini skirt again yesterday, totally made my day lol! - As women of color we definitely have an advantage in this weightloss battle when it comes to skin, muscle helps build (and rebuild) the connective tissue that the skin is connected to and burns that layer of fat between the muscles and the skin - once the fat is gone the "saggy" skin look WILL vanish. Let me know if you have an other questions - Good luck! :)

  11. I really enjoyed looking at your before and after pics. I am in the pre-op process of approval....some in sense my journey has only begun. I read that your procedure was in 2008. I struggle with being comfortable in my own skin....please tell me it gets easier...heehee!!

  12. Amazing Job! I was 302 and now I am 205 and pretty much have stalled. I've started running and working out some. How did you do it? Any problems with loose skin or anything?

  13. How exciting to see someone who shares the same day of the surgery! My husband also has always been good with staying in shape too. He actually goes to the gym almost daily. We went thru 9mo with out the gym and he gained some weight but nothing compared to mine. I've always felt big even when I was a senior in high school but now looking back I would do anything to be that size again! Ive primarily gained my weight after I had a full hysterectomy 2 yrs ago and its been a struggle ever since. Not looking forward to the preop diet either but I guess it will help the shockness that happens at first from eating food to liquids. My step mom had this surgery and stated after 4th or 5th day she started eating mushy foods. She said that every body is different and you just have to do what your body tells you. I figured the longest I can follow the diet they have as a guide the more I would loose. Talk to you soon! :rolleyes2:

  14. Thanks, Melissa. Yes, I am getting excited, but not scared. I did not sleep much last night, tho. No kids at home, so that is not an issue for me. I am going crazy trying to tie up all the "loose ends" at work to free me up for a few days.

WOn't find out my surgery time until noon today. I hope it is EARLY (esp since I can't eat or drink before hand). I spent a little time at church this morning praying for healing and for calm. So are so good. I will keep you in my prayers, esp in the morning. Hope it is PERFECT. Will be in touch when we are on the other side!

  15. Hi Lety! 20 lbs in 6 weeks is great! My tips for you is....take a pix of yourself every 10 lbs at loss, in the same outfit! For my before pix...I used a shirt and shorts that were to small on me....because I wanted to them get loose....then to the point where they just fell off of me! Find a workout that you love doing and do it!!! Mine is Jazzercise, its a GREAT TOTAL body workout and its so much fun! I do that 5 to 6 times per week. When eating....think about how little you can eat...vs. how much food can you get down....if you think like that, you'll never lose all your weight! Stay positive, some months you might lose 6 to 8 lbs....some months you might not lose any...it's very normal!

I wish you the best of luck! Keep in touch and let me know how your doing! =)

  16. Hi Mary, My name is Lynn and I was banded January 31st, 2010. I had my first fill 10 days ago and am having difficulty drinking all the water and keeping the food down. Seems to be too much saliva. How are you doing with the food. Do you have any suggestions for me. I'm really excited about loosing the weight. I am much older, 63, but young at heart.

  17. Hi there. I just saw where you are scheduled for 3-25. Me too! I am getting so excited, just trying to tie up a few loose ends in my "other life" so that I can relax and take care of myself for a few days. I would love to share this journey with you. I am a 58 year olf woman (married with 2 grown children) living in Alabama.

  18. Thankfully enough it's just Nausea and with no vomiting. It really gets worse when I meet with another doctor. Always the thought of will I mess up and this doctor not reccomend the surgery. But so far I have been really complimented on my goals and everything I am doing for myself. I get a lot of workouts in during the week. Usually a mile on the treadmill, and 5 miles on the cycle. Then my rounds on the weights. I am really working on the midsection and the glutes. I do not want loose skin after loosing weight. Biggest fear after the band not working at all of course. I never got sore after a workout maybe because I chase after 2 little ones and am constantly cleaning house. Which by the way I was looking up on the internet did you know doing normal housework can burn up to 199 calories per hour. Sometimes more if it's a strainous job.

  19. Not getting hungry yet, but I have had trouble with the protein drinks. My nurse suggested Muscle Milk, I'm trying it tomorrow. I really need more proteins. I am on liquids only now (today is the first day) but all Ive had today is some potato soup and some sugar-free pudding lol!!

I can't seem to have any more than that..it hurts my tummy :( Plus, my nutritionist said that by week 3 I will be hungry...so I really wanna get a head-start so it won't be so hard for me to loose between week 3-5 (I have my first fill at week 6).

  20. Thanks for asking. It went really well. Surgery took 3 hours. I had lipo to my outer, inner, posterior thighs and knees and lower abdomen and a pubic lift. The pain only lasted about 3 days. I am 12 days post op today and I actually did 30 minutes on my elliptical machine today (even though the dr told me to wait another week). The brusing was horrible, but is getting better. The swelling hasn't been too bad so far. I can already see improvement. I just hope I don't have too much sagging when the swelling goes away. I don't think I'm going to be satisfied with the pubic lift though. I had some excess skin from my tummy tuck that I was hoping he would remove and he ran out of time. I'll wait 6 months to see what it looks like and I may consider a revision if I don't like it.

    How are you doing?

  21. Mitilda I am sick to death of milk! Its so boring and bland and if I never drink it again it will be too soon. But I am not so hungry now and I havent had any headaches so not all bad. I have been drinking plenty of sugar free squash so I think that has kept the headaches away. I still want to eat everything and my sense of smell is heightened so anyone eating near me is torture.

I am just glad I am allowed yogurt as its the only flavour Im getting. I have lost 9lb now and I have noticed that my clothes are getting loose. Thats always encouraging.

But to be honest the only thing keeping me going is the fear that my liver will be too big. I do not want to wake up with no band because I cheated. I am going to give this 100%. Are you being good before your pre op or are you having what you think you will miss? My advice is to eat food with plenty of flavour rather than volume because believe me its the flavour you miss!

  22. Oh ok Thxs. Im truly amazed that people still hate b/c of the color of my skin. However they cant take away my joy, Ive worked to hard to allow someone and their ignorance to make me feel any kind of way other than good about myself. Those days if feeln sad and depressed about nothing are over.

  23. Hi Judy........Just read your new blog. The Carribean wow! What a wonderful trip. I am jealous lol. Isn't it great to go through your closet and actually fit into clothes you loved. I won't have to shop to much for a while myself. Have a GREAT time and ENJOY EVERY MINUTE!!!!!

The headache was from the gases rising in my body. I'm doing great, and feeling wonderful. Just had an injection in my hip, and it has made a major difference. I hired a personal trainer and am concentrating on my hip fat lol. That's where I carry most of my weight unfortunately. I need to be the best I can because I am considered high risk. I have an auto-ammune factor and my skin has a hard time healing. I'm ready to GO!!!!Blessings,

    Sue
