You may not be getting enough nutrition. My surgeon wouldn't approve of your diet. Once I got past the healing stage I was expected to eat a large variety of three solid meals per day. I am not to use shakes as a meal, I am not supposed to eat soft mushie foods as a meal. Feeling worn-down and tired is a huge sign that you are lacking in something. The goal is certainly to lose weight but to do it healthfully with a diet that you can follow for life. Are you able to exercise sufficiently on your diet? I think I would be too tired and dizzy to move around much if I ate like that and I was not a strenuous exerciser until very recently. I do not measure but I eat an average of 3/4 cup of food per meal. Veggies, meat and cheese added to 1/4 cup of eggbeater or 1/2 cup of Cereal with 1/4 cup of skim milk for breakfast. lunch and dinner is solid lean Protein with fresh veggies. And I have managed to lose steadily eating that way. I have had a ton of energy and felt great...Just something to consider.

Remember that not everyone gets tight when they fly, but I know there are a number of threads/posts where people say they do. I can't speak for everyone, but I think the stress of travel adds to normal altitude tightness. Did I pack everything? Do I have all my documents and gear? etc. To answer your question, I don't "feel" anything. I just notice that I can't eat much solid food flying day and for much of the day after. I'm usually back to normal by evening the second day. I stick to soups, protein drinks and soft foods until the swelling goes down and the band loosens up. You have so many new and exciting things to look forward to! Best wishes on your upcoming wedding and your banding. You'll have to share a wedding photo with all of us! Oh, and a trip to Spain sounds WONDERFUL too! My hubby and I are headed off diving in 3 weeks, but nothing as exciting as Spain! In my pre-band days, I was using 21-22 pounds of weight. Last trip (in the summer) I was using 16 pounds. I am most sure I"ll be able to drop another pound. After this trip I've got to get some new gear, and a thicker suit - BRRRR!

What Kind of Protein Bar Do You Perfer?
ksc1965 replied to enjoythetime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Power Crunch bars taste really good. Fewer grams of Protein than the bar you bought but still "good" as bars go. And like I said, you can't beat the taste. Have only been able to find them at Wal-Mart and Meijer. chocolate, vanilla and Peanut Butter. For chocolate bar. .. Calories= 205 Fat=13g Carbs=10g Protein=13g -
Head Hunger
Ms skinniness replied to Look@meitsEmily's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you drink another protein shake. Drink some more water and keep yourself busy. This will pass, the HA is most likely stress related and low intake of carbs. This is just my opinion, I am not a medical doctor. -
I'm a newbie to this and trying to figure out which powders I find tasty. I just got some unjury and Syntrax samples. I get my psych evaluation this week so I'm about a month out or so. I currently dump a scoop in with some almond milk , ice, fruit, spinach etc. throw it all in a huge glass and off to work I go. I obviously won't be able to consume large Protein shakes after surgery, so my question is 2 part : 1)how do you sample to find which ones you like? Do you taste powder only, do you mix with Water, do you add all the fruits which I find hard to "taste" the powder then? 2) after surgery do you mainly make the fruit smoothies and add powder for Breakfast or do you add powder to water after workout? Guess I want to know a normal day of how Protein Powder is consumed. I have not had any nutrition appts yet. I do have a vitamix which we love. Thanks

Clear protein?
Inner Surfer Girl replied to sbdooly73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Isopure makes clear ready to drink protein drinks that some folks like. I like the ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates and Syntrax nectar. -
There will be protein waters at Walmart. Might not have as much as a shake but you can drink more. Just watch for sugar content and aim for 0.

Losing weight, still hate my body.
willowcat replied to blackcherry2002's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Blackcherry2002, You're "pear shaped"--you have narrow shoulders, smallish breasts, a small waist, and a large bum and thighs--right? One thing I've learned is that every body shape (except for maybe the "hour-glass" body) has it's own dressing challenges. You're quite young and who knows, after you've finished losing weight, you might find that your next step is liposuction and a lower-body resculpturing surgery. If surgery isn't an option, then you'll eventually have to make peace with the body shape you were given. Good luck and hang in there--you're half-way to goal! -

I got my band on Jan 24, 2008- things have been going pretty well until now. On Monday I got my 5th fill. Since then I have only been able to keep liquids (coffee and protein drinks) down. I went to a Mexican restaurant on Wed with my son and just ate the cheese sauce off the enchiliada - right to the bathroom to throw everything up. Anything I try to eat comes up in matter of minutes - it is like it just stays in my throat / chest area. What am I doing wrong???? It is very frustrating!

Free Bariatric Advantage Products! Doc's Requirements?
Veda replied to Veda's topic in Rants & Raves
Escape_Pod, I will gladly give you what I have. There is a large sealed bag, never been opened, of vanilla shake powder that can be mixed with Water or milk. I also have plastic bottles that have different flavors of the Protein shake powder, which is meant as a convenient way to take the product with you to work or wherever. I think this is at least 2 weeks worth. If you private message me with your address, my husband will mail you the products right away. I gave the chewable supplements to my stepson who likes them a lot. Funny how we are all so different! I'm kind of sorry that I vented because my surgeon is great at his technique. I did go to the office the other day and told them that their product does not agree with me. Regardless, I do like to be given reasonable choices in life - just sayin'. Thanks all for your comments - at least I know I'm not alone in my thoughts on the subject. -
Free Bariatric Advantage Products! Doc's Requirements?

Well, don't buy any more. If they give you a hard time, tell them to go pound sand. Last I checked, we live in a free society. You are self-pay and have the option of how you want to continue services. -
GOT MY DATE TODAY...APRIL 9! Now what?
Elode replied to ZoeyBear's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Now you celebrate! I would practice eating sloooow and small bites. Try some protein drinks and find one you like. My favorite is chocolate ready -made premier protien drinks. I wouldn't spend a lot buying big tubs because your taste can change after surgery. Look up some healthy recipes and snacks that you can have after surgery. Get a food tracker app on your phone ect..if you don't already have a way to track food. Find some good chewable vitamins. Make a list of stuff for the hospital. Research what to expect after surgery. Know your food stages so you can prepare and know what to buy. So many things!!! -

I've been on soft foods for five days now. I like bean free turkey chili - 11gr protein in 1/2 cup. Tilapia is delish. Scrambled eggs. Grilled burger (chopped in food processor and moistened with beef gravy). Meatball, mashed with sauce and Parmesan cheese. String cheese - 7gr protein. So far this is all I've tried. I haven't had trouble with any of it. Chew well, small bites, eat slowly.

Bariatric Advantage has an unflavored protein shake. It is not cheap at $60 for a large container.

SMALL SCALE VICTORY FINALLY
Phoenix Rising replied to SmokyMtnGal2011's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I wondered where you were, hadn't seen you on here for awhile. Mind you, I have been spending most of my time reading old posts. I am so pleased you have broken your stall, I know how hard you have been working at doing everything you can to practise. I too have been trying really hard, and my 'milk' diet is beginning to pay off. It too, is really hard though, and I just wish they would allow us to add Protein to our drinks as I think I would be a lot less hungary and lose more weight. One more visit eh, not long to go now. I shall be sending positive thoughts your way in the hope everything is approved and you get your 'date' at last. Good luck and keep on 'practising' -
My band is pretty tight in the morning so I keep drinking the same protein shake over and over... 4 oz. chocolate light soy, 4 oz. water, 1/2 banana, 1 TB pb, 1 scoop chocolate protein powder. I love it, but I am afraid I'm going to get sick of it. So what liquid do you have for breakfast? I wouldn't mind trying some of the low carb Slim Fast shakes, but I want to call my doctor's office first and ask their opinion. I have seen the shake recipes on here. Some of the flavored syrups and powders are hard to find. A few I've tried I just don't really care for. Thanks for any advice! I really appreciate it :w00t:

I have done it when I didn't eat much for dinner and felt like I needed something.. better than junk food so depends on how much sugar or calories I suppose. I sometimes make my own with muscle milk powder and almond milk , throw a few strawberries or frozen banana and you have a good Protein smoothie. I would discuss with the nutritionist if you have one as to whether you are really hungry or just out of habit eating something at bedtime.
