  1. I am almost 6 month post op and have minimal sagging skin so far, which is amazing, but I have lost a lot of muscle mass and my famously bubbly butt is now saggy on the bottom. No matter what’s underwear I choose, I get a four-butt. Anyone who has had Four-boob would understand — LOL. I have a second butt at the top of my thighs that pours out of my underwear haha. It is not all skin, it is just not held up by muscle anymore and is falling. It is not like “white girl butt”, because it still has *some* volume to it (my butt is not flat). Anyone else? Any ideas how to minimize this?

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

Comfy loose pants to walk around with, phone charger, dry mouth spray. They provided me with a toothbrush so I didn’t bring mine because I wanted to minimize how much I brought.

I take it you’re referring to that post in Food Befote & After. What was that? You think we were past most of that sort of thinking but then there it is again. Such a narrow minded, backward thinking comment. We should only dress for ourselves & not a small number of Neanderthals. If it makes you feel comfortable, confident & happy it’s perfect for you. Smock tops always make me think of my dear, dear friend Pat, who often wears them. They always look so pretty, cool & fresh especially your blue & white one @WishMeSmaller. And I like your new slim line dress. If you feel a little self conscious about your loose skin, though I can barely notice anything, try a pair of full brief knickers with a little more Lycra in them than your usual knickers. I find they get me through those days when I feel like I have a little pooch in dresses like this & I just need a smoother line. Remember when we’d have those heavy duty ‘suck-it-all-in’ underwear like Spanxs, Nancy Ganz, etc.? I took great delight in tossing all those out of my cupboards.
  4. Hi! I’m new on here but I have a question. I had my sleeve done January 2020 and was very happy with my results and so glad I did it. I have lost 135 lbs and want to loose another 20-30 lbs more. Now being out 15 months I have developed heart burn, acidic reflux which at times is horrible. I have had heart burn in the passed but infrequently. The GI doctor has done an endoscopy and took biopsies plus stretched me as pills and food were getting stuck in my throat. Now I have this horrible pain after I eat anything like chicken, pork, fish and red meats. I don’t cook with spices, onion, or garlic. The doctor has given me different meds but nothing has worked. Right now I’m on Protonic 40 mg 2 times daily and Pepcid at night. I had an abdominal ultrasound which they found no gallstones but an minimally enlarged spleen. By the way had my gallbladder was removed 37 yrs ago. I was told by her nurse practitioner that the next step is to have a revision. Is this correct? Is there anything the GI doctor or Bariatric surgeon can do before this? Can anyone tell me about the revision? Does it hurt worse than the sleeve? Everything is basically the same as the sleeve except of course the surgery itself? Thanks in advance.

Dress arrived in the mail today. Is this the unicorn? 🦄 I don’t think I would wear this until after plastics in late May as it shows the loose skin on my tummy and upper hips...think spare tire of loose skin. I would like to dedicate this post to @ms.sss 😉
  6. I know this thread is super old. I am planning on taking some of their new product for protien and hair skin nails type of things. I am going to be documenting but surgeon doesn’t want me to take anything til a few weeks after surgery and I won’t be taking anything that has too much of the stimulants. I love the lifestyle mix, the protien shake, the protein bars and the hydration (the one without caffiene)

    Hungry hungry hungry

Not claiming I'm a fast loser compared to others with my stats but... I recommend buying Genepro (you can get it in the BP store or on Amazon) and add it to your oatmeal and drinks for protein. I tried many other unflavored protein powders to avoid the Genepro cost and believe me, it's worth it. You don't need nearly as much Genepro, it's 56 calories vs 130 calories, has 30g of protein & mixes well with liquids warm and cold. Most importantly, there's no taste. I recommend not comparing yourself to others on this board. If your doctor is more concerned you didn't lose X amount of weight, I'd tell him/her what you're doing and ask for advice. To be honest, I picked a surgeon that only expects patients to lose half their goal weight in a single year. 8 pounds a month MAX. I was self pay and my yoyo dieting had my metabolism all screwed up. Why have surgery if you're just gonna restrict and over exercise? I was "only" 203 lbs 5'5" at surgery and my loss was slow from the start. This is for life. And saggy skin is not attractive.

    Hungry hungry hungry

So I am just thinking about getting the sleeve surgery. My first appt at hospital is tomorrow. I seen this post, so after co pay, and surgery, people are still hungry? Still trying to stay on strict diet? I could save 5000 dollars, and skip surgery and fight with the diet alone. This is depressing, I thought the surgery would help me not be so hungry, an aid in loosing the weight.

    May 2021 VSG surgeries?

My surgery is 5/5. I'm excited but I am concerned about the possibility of loose skin. Im afraid that after all the pain and hard work that I will still be disgusted by my body. I'm going to take one step at a time and it's nice to know that there are people going through the same things I am.

    May 2021 VSG surgeries?

I’m not entirely certain I will care all that much about the loose skin. It depends on if it causes discomfort. Mostly I am just happy to have the opportunity to have a fresh start. I have been reading in Facebook groups all kinds of people wanting to know when they can eat junk food again. I just can’t imagine, I honestly hate food and what it has done to me. Zero interest in going back!

    May 2021 VSG surgeries?

I had a C-section in 2019 so I’m not terribly worried about the incisions either. It’s mostly the anesthesia, honestly I’d rather have surgery awake if that was an option. And I’m worried about recovering with a toddler at home and generally just feeling well and doing well afterwards. I really don’t want to fail. I don’t care much about the idea of loose skin now but maybe that’ll change when it’s a reality.

    May 2021 VSG surgeries?

I’m not in the nervous phase yet. I had. C-section in 2009 but was awake for that. I am mostly freaked out by anesthesia. I don’t want a bad reaction. I am also dreading the inevitable loose skin. I have plans for a tummy tuck and possible a breast lift. Waiting for those things will be tough!

    Postoperative issues with WLS

Reply to catwoman7 yes i have been telling the office all about what i have been experiencing. each time they keep telling me everyone is different - be patient... and reiterate what to do. yesterday they finally offered something else to do. said to take prilosec and the anti-nausea medication each day. see if that helps and if not they will look into my gallbladder. so giving it another week yet again before i loose it more lol

I agree with @ms.sss, @BayougirlMrsS. The self tanner seems to be a subtle match to your naturally tanned skin & it’s a lovely tone. Those orange ones look so fake. Oh no, @GreenTealael. Why does this sort of thing always happen to your favourite pants, dress, shirt, etc. Sometimes if you spray hair spray on the paint stain it will help it come out in the wash if it’s a water-based paint. If you can’t get it out you can always say you bought them as hand painted leggings. 😁

    GONNA LOOSE IT

I am 12 weeks out Post Op for Gastric Sleeve and ready to LOOSE IT! Can't eat squat without getting very nauseous and vomiting up what I ate. I feel nauseous from the moment I wake up... with the feeling of wanting to hurl without even eating a thing yet. I can't drink the stupid protein drinks or water without getting sick.. so I don't. YES... I have had small bites and chewed the hell out of it and yet still... this is like a living hell. I feel thirsty yet cant keep stuff down.. and weak and dizzy. I don't feel right at all and there seems to be no end in sight for this madness. At week 12 my life should be more normal by now. My weight loss is about 10 lbs a week which Doc says is slower than he would like.. So I was wondering am I the only one out here in this boat to hell???

Stalls are normal. You may not being losing as much weight rapidly- which is a good thing for less loose skin. Remember you're losing inches. [emoji3059] Hope that helps. Sent from my SM-N976V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Any March 2021 Sleeve Patients?

Hi Steph, I was sleeved on the 31st too, yesterday was the first time I met my liquid goal. Some things to look out for with dehydration are the colour and smell of your pee. Clear and light coloured with no distinct odour is good, but if it’s dark in colour and has a strong smell, that’s not great. Another thing to try is the pinch test, if you pinch the skin on the back of your hand it should spring back to shape within a few seconds. Defs call your team if you think you need extra fluids/support. I found that setting a 5 or 10 minute timer and portioning out 1oz of water (in a medicine cup) really helped me focus on getting the fluids in. And I added chunks of cucumber to my water for flavour (I’m pretty sick of sweetness) but of course I don’t eat them! Wishing you luck and I hope it gets easier for you.

At 5'5" and 240...with good luck, your skin will snap back. At age 18 your chances are terrific (but not guaranteed.) I think about the tiny little 20 year olds I know with huge pregnancies whose skin reduces and looks terrific in months. I had my surgery done at 46, and was stunned at how well things reduced back into place. I have a few trouble areas, but I don't mind how I look naked at all. I was open to skin surgery, but don't feel I need it. At 18, I think you're gonna look amazing:) Best wishes.

Same. The loose skin wins over being obese everyday. And there’s always skin removal surgery if it’s excessive, impacts your activity or if you just don’t like it. A lot have it removed but I haven’t but I don’t have that much really & it doesn’t restrict what I can or want to wear. You do have age in your side - all that lovely, bouncy, elastic skin. How long you’ve been at your highest weight, genetics, all factor into how much loose skin you’ll have too. Congrats on your surgery.

^^^ totally agree. I'd take the loose skin any day of the week over being morbidly obese again!!

No one can say for sure because there are a lot of factors that go into how much loose skin a person will have after a very large weight loss. But age is on your side, your skin is hopefully still elastic and that should help. And I've never heard anyone who lost a lot of weight complain about the loose skin. Most of us wouldn't trade our new bodies for tighter skin. It'll be okay, one way or another.

    Diarrhea?

Hello everybody, I had laproscopic sleeve gastrectomy on the 31st. Aside from the constant gas pain and vomiting everytime I took pain medicine, recovery went pretty well. The thing I have been dealing with the last few days is diarrhea though. The day after surgery, I actually pooped myself thinking it was just gas. At that time is was watery. It was incredibly embarrassing and I'm so thankful my nurse and CNA were more than understanding. Saturday (3 days post-op) it was very soft. Sunday it was starting to get more loose again. Today it watery again and I've gone multiple times. I've been trying to change up what I've been consuming, thinking it was the milk or the soups I've chosen to eat, but it doesn't seem to help. It doesn't make sense that I also had diarrhea the day after surgery when I was NPO for so long. Has anybody else experienced this? Is it normal? Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Any April 2021 surgeries?!

My surgery is tomorrow, I have to check in at 10am. everything was going fine until this last week. My husband is now telling me that it’s a waste of money and I should try to loose the weight by exercising. I’ve been exercising for about a year and have lost some weight but not all of it since I had my last baby. Anyway this last week I was considering not doing the surgery anymore and I even ate some food. I haven’t ate for the last 2 days but now I’m worried If I do go tomorrow I will get cut open and not get to have the procedure. sorry guys I’m just venting right now.
