I would say first off you aren't eating enough and you aren't meeting Protein goals. I would add at a minimum an afternoon snack something like yogurt with a bit of fruit and a tsp of flax or wheat germ sprinkled on top would also address the constipation issues you previously mentioned. I would look into something like the the Isopure nocarb drinks or Syntrax nectar to help increase your protein and Fluid intake. I would also try walking for at least 15 - 20 minutes a day. Exercise helps jump start your metabolism and appetite. I would also call the doctor. Still having trouble eating at 8 weeks out is not a good thing. ETA: If you can tolerate it. I would even add a tiny bit of spinach to that 1 egg. Spinach had Vitamin A, K, folate, Fiber, Iron and protein. I would also add a tiny bit of Protein powder to the the afternoon yogurt. That would increase your protein intake.

I was sleeved on 12/21 and my schedule now is like this: Morning - 2 scarmbled eggs with 1 oz of shredded cheese One Premier Protein (11 oz) on the way to work 16 oz of Water at work, sip until lunch Lunch - Last several days it's been Shelly's Ricotta Bake as described above 16 oz Diet Snapple 16 oz water, sip until I get home dinner - Various, either chicken salad, refried Beans, tuna, egg salad, turkey salad 1 or 2 sugar-free popsicles, or maybe a Yoplait light yogurt (6 oz - Boston Cream Pie!) 16 oz water That puts me at just about 900 or so calories a day and I never feel hungry and it satisfies my liquid and protein requirements.

When I was roughly at your phase I was eating 3 meals per day of under 3 oz (85 grams, or roughly 175 ml) each. All of those meals had to be high protein: meat, dairy, eggs, or tofu with a little bit of soft green veggies. In between meals if I got hungry, I had a low calorie protein shake. An alternative to that is to have a small amount of diced chicken breast.

Full liquid question
marfar7 replied to LeeAnnfromNC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never measured my liquids either. I'd eat 1 small can of Cambells tomato Soup (with 1% milk) a day, broken up into 4 meals. I drank a 1oz medicine cup of Protein shake every hour (or actually whenever I remembered was more like it) and all the Water, crystal lite, Jello, and sf popsicles I wanted. To this day, I can't eat tomato soup. Thank God I found Progresso Tomato Basil Soup, cuz I'm gunna be back on the liquids for 3-4 weeks after my sleeve revision surgery in June. Luv me some Tomato Basil Soup! I would probably break 1 can (2 cups) into 4 meals also (1/2 cup each meal). Nothing like tomato soup for breakfast! Good luck! You'll be happy when you can add mashed potatoes (at least I was. Could've bought stock in KFC!) Marci -
Last week, my doctor referred me to a Gastric Sleeve Surgeon. I attended his open house and I have a consultation reserved later this month. I contacted my insurance agency because part of their requirements is for me to work with a Bariatric Case Manager. I spoke with her today and she informed me of a few new wrinkles. My insurance company only covers surgeries through a Bariatric Center of Excellence. That doctor is not part of any centers that have that certification. A few days ago, I stumbled across this forum (and another). I realize that going to Mexico and paying for my own surgery is an actual option. I wrote my doctor and she is discouraging me from this route. She made it clear that my insurance will not pay for any additional surgeries that rise out of complications. I could go with my insurance but it will take anywhere between 7-12 months before I can have the surgery. Whereas, if I paid, I could probably do it in September or October. I really, really want to self-pay and do it in September. But, I am also afraid of not being covered for any after-care treatment. Did anyone else have a similar choice?

My doctor prescribed 6-months worth of NEXIUM-mups for acid reflux. While in surgery they fixed a hiatial hernia that they found -- and that did the trick for me. I only needed part of what I bought in Mexico, so I have a 2- month supply available for someone. I have 4 boxes of Nexium-mups 14 tablets per box manufactured by AstraZeneca [20 mgs / tablet] Each box has the original seal on it and the tablets are sealed in the protective dispenser plastic/foil sheets I will sell you all 4 boxes for $100 and I will pay for the shipping anywhere in the USA Write to Liquid Protein [isopure shakes + the Isopure zero carb drink], and Soups to achieve this result. IF I do an Isopure shake [50 grams of protein] and a Zero Carb drink [40 grams of protein], that is 90 GRAMS of PROTEIN for my day. You are not hungry with this routine. I lost 45 pounds--45 inches over all--in only 45 days. Then over the last month I have slowed down because I got off my routine. But if you will do this routine for your first 45 days--you too will have fantastic results. Best wishes to you. And if you know you are going to need Nexium for your acid reflux and I can help you, please let me know. I will mail these to you this week. Everything is in the original SEALED boxes and the protective plastic/foil despenser sheets.

Be careful! Lol the fullness feels very strange! But puréed gives you a lot of options!

Anything you can put through a blender and mush to baby food consistency you can have. Tuna salad, egg salad, chicken salad, or ham salad put through a blender are great. You can even blend cottage cheese or plain yogurt into cream Soups for extra Protein. Chili put through the blender with some cream cheese is yummy, too. Just think protein and blender.

I had a fill yesterday - 2 cc's so very tight today - I drank protein shake and it went down but was starving later so thought what can I eat that is soft? I went and got some refried beans at Taco Bell thinking protein and soft, etc. They tasted so good but got stuck so I had to spit them out - I kept putting them in my mouth to at least get the flavor of something good in even though I knew they wouldn't stay down - it is more from a feeling of starvation and hunger than an eating disorder with me - I do not have an eating disorder.

Must Try For People Who Hate Shakes
SkinnyOnMe posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am at the point when Protein Shakes give me nausea. Now most Bolthouse Farms products only have soy Protein but this has both whey and soy and they say tha this is a great balance because the different rates of digestion and benefits. Anyways most importantly this tastes GOOD. Not the cheapest but affordable on any budget. -
Was told not to drink our calories, so how do you get all of the protein you need ? I'm kind of hungry and I'm 12 days out.
-
I started milky protein shakes and yogurt by day 6. Just take it slow and stop if you are feeling ill. I personally had a heck of a time with the clear stage. Once I started drinking regular protein shakes, the food dreaming waned a bit. Good luck!!

Got approval and Surgery date!
KabinKitty replied to fullhandsfullheart's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on getting your date!! I can't wait to be there.....soon I hope! I think most docs order a lowfat diet for a week before sugery to try and shrink the liver as much as possible as it make it easier to do the sugery. The liver is very close to the stomach and it's possible to knick it during surgery if it's enlarged due to being fatty. My surgeon has his patients do a full liquid diet the week before with Protein drinks and creamed Soups and such. Then Clear liquids the day before and after.....no bowel prep (thank goodness)! Guess he figures that with the full liquids for a week the bowels would be fairly empty. -
Protein Question
fluffylibra30 replied to kellythestarr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They are soy based protein. My doc told me it was better than nothing but not to depend on them for a majority of our protein. -
Protein Question
fluffylibra30 replied to kellythestarr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Those have collegen based Protein as well as whey. My nut said They are "better then no protein" but not as good as pure whey. -
Try a speciality store, Poppeys, GNC, etc, they have better tasting and better quality protein powders. They may cost a bit more, but it is worth it.

protein shakes :(
Rohler1520 replied to livehealthy's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Hey sweet tea let me know how the unjury taste. I have been contemplating whether to order that also. I heard the chicken Soup is great but I haven't heard a lot about the Protein shakes. -
Hi livehealthy, I find the shakes hard to drink as well. Have you tried a clear RTD protein like isopure? worked for me
-
So which one do you think is best. The salesman tried to get me to buy Promasil. I was skeptical cause I would like to taste it first. It was zero carbs and 20G Protein but it was like $60.00. Way to much if I don't like it

I quite like the chocolate. Great protein to cal. ratio. The $5 off coupon is great I bought two cases.

Has anyone tried these? They have the little banner ads that appear all over these forums. You can buy them at Costco. I compared labels, and they are right in line with these Bariatric Advantage shakes I have now. And surely nothing can taste worse than what I have now ....

When I went to my Bariatric classes, I was told that this is not a problem with gastric surgeries ( Roux n y, gastric sleeve and lap band) because in part of all the fluid we have to drink ( 64 oz) and the body's need for extra protein to heal and maintain now that be eat less. I don't think the grams of protein will be a problem, but, you should ask you doctor. You will be monitored though with blood lab work and one of the labs measures the amount of protein. Kidney function is also monitored. If either is too high, your doctor would and should know and adjust your diet accordingly.
