  3. I'm blessed too!!! Had my surgery Oct 6 and from pre and post op I am down 34 lbs. I am very happy with the results and I am not missing eating large portions. A taste of food is what I get and I am happy with that. When do you have your surgery. Be safe.

  4. Thanks for checking on me! I'm doing so much better; it's like night and day. I've been testing out different foods and finding what works for me. Gone are the days that I'm nauseous all day so I'm thankful for that :)

    Have you had your surgery yet?

  5. I never made it out of the hospital before the leak was detected. I was 2 days post-band to sleeve revision. The leak was surgically repaired as soon as it was detected with heavy mattress suturing, and then I went those days without food or liquids. Once I could start "food", I did 17 days of clears, 1 week of full liquids then onto mushies.

  6. Wow, Tim, it sounds like you've got a lot on your plate right now (except for food)! I'm sorry things are so stressful.

     

    I'm not on regular foods yet. I have one more week of mushies and then move on to soft foods. I'm pretty sure I'm confusing the two. I started doing much better this past week because I added fish to my diet. I did it a little earlier than scheduled, but I had to do something to get in enough protein. I told the doc about it and she is (mostly) okay with it. My weight loss is frustratingly slow. I don't know why. I'm walking on the treadmill (only fifteen minutes a day) and I'm getting my protein in and I'm not overdoing carbs or calories. I'm still not drinking enough liquids, but I'm doing the best that I can. I feel great for parts of the day and then sink into a no energy zone for a while. I sure hope this evens out.

     

    How are you feeling? What are you eating?

  7. That's great! I've lost 16 lbs. so far. I went back to work today and did really well. Everyone said I looked great, and that was nice to hear. Yes it's so weird to eat so little and get full so quickly. I'm like those skinny girls now that take a few bites and claim to be full, but I really am LOL! Super funny! Yes, I'm still on mushies and go to real food next Thursday (10/7). I'm not hungry at all, but I'm craving meat. I'm mainly a chicken gal, but since I saw a post from tiffykins about a roast, I can't wait to make it lol.

  8. When I gulp instead of sip I get air in my stomach and I get a little bit of gurgling and the burps. Doesn't hurt but definitely noticeable.

     

    No fat person is ever going to be satisfied with just liquids. I miss food. But when I have the slimfast and then jello.. I'm not hungry and every morning i get on the scale and I see it going down so that is what keeps me going. I have had a bite of egg and a bite of pizza. Both upset my stomach but within 5 minutes the gurgling was gone. Back to liquids for another week for me.

  9. Hanging in there but Saints lost so really jonesn for some comfort food NOW! Guess I will just have to put some hot sauce in the broth tonight! The time will pass once I can get back to work and I am already starting some pureed recipes to hit right away.

    Thanks for the encouraging words:-) As of right now, my weight loss has slowed. I am 6 weeks post op and have lost a total of 41 pounds. Plus I have started to incorporate regular foods back into my diet, which was a lot of trial and error the first week, but now so far so good. However, I must admit that I have eaten nuggets at Chick-fil-a couple of times :-( and my weight loss has slowed (which I am a little concerned about) But other that, everything has been going well.

  11. Woohoo..... its almost time!!! Do you know I havnt eaten for 10 days?? lol Only fluids including my 3 day pre op diet, but I no longer crave food, its amazing, and finally today I found clear protien ... I looked all over Calgary lol but things are fantastc!! And Im down 13.2 now lol havnt updated my ticker yet lol I cant wait til youre on this side!!

  12. I am doing well. How are you doing? I haven't been on here in a few days because I had a death in the extended family and I have been having issues at work and am trying to find a new job.

     

    I have lost about 18 pounds since the day of surgery. I feel good about that. I did get nauseated for the first time yesterday. I think it was due to my medication. I took it all at once and in about 20 minutes I was very nauseated. It passed and all has been good since.

     

    Are you still on mushies or are you on solid food? I ate a scrambled egg tonight for supper and I was so full. That seems so weird.

  13. Well six months out and doing good. The weight just keeps slowly coming off.

    Down 72 lbs now. I am doing a lot of biking so I have also out on some muscle.

    Just started lifting weights again a week ago so I expect to put some more weight with that.

    Into 38 in. jeans now... and I don't know the last time that happened!

     

    Bags and bags of my clothes to the thrift store... I refuse to spend much on clothes.

    I going with one pair of jeans at a time through the journey...

     

    I don't count carbs or cals at all and I am enjoying eating less food... cookies (life style kind) every day with my Tim Horton's coffee.

     

    I would like to be down 100lbs by Christmas... It will be close!

  14. Hi Friends, I've hit the 30 pound mark and ready to tackle another 10 pounds! I'm getting used to my new tummy and finding that some food sounds good one day and then horrible the next. I'm focusing only on 10 pounds at a time because that helps me mentally. I've been exercising but some days I am really tired afterwards instead of energized. I'm literally never hungry, so eating can really be a chore. Did I just say that? :) How is everyone doing?

  15. So good to know about the shower! I got home Sun. afternoon.

    Today has been my best day, but still not anywhere close to normal. I'm starting to get kinda emotional. I did really good on the liquid the week before, but it seems soooo much harder now! Evey night someone is bringing food for my family, and I just sit and smell it, and can't do a thing about it!! I just keep telling myself that its a little over 2 weeks and I'll start on soft foods. I'm sooo sick of protein. I really didn't think that was going to be a problem, but now I can't stand any of it.

  16. Hey Chancie! I just had someone come to visit us that brought me Body Fortress Cookies N' Creme from the states all the way to Nicaragua! I am so happy! I can't buy a protein powder here in Nicaragua and I wanted to get this one because you recommended it. Although I just got one so I don't think it will last that long... :-( I had a question. Do you just use it in coffee or have you had it any other way? In water? I'm only 4 weeks out and I didn't know if I should start drinking coffee yet. I'd like to, but everyone seems to tell me to wait. My other question is how do you do with the calories? This does have quite a bit of calories. 2 scoops = 290 calories. If you have two scoops how many calories do you usually have in food each day? You count these calories the same as food right? Thanks so much for your help! By the way, you look great! ;-)

  17. I was able to start solid food at 6 weeks. I have been doing really well with it and can each pretty much anything, if I eat small bites and don't eat too fast. I still start my morning with a protein drink too. Liquids seem to go down much easier than food in the morning. Today, I tried a protein hot chocolate mix with my morning coffee. 15 grams of protein in my coffee. Gotta love it. I also ordered the protein latte, can't wait to try it. I just finished working out, I'm off today and will drink my Nectar Protein drink in a bit. I have been bad the last couple weeks with my exercise. I have been working long hours on a project for work - just not enough hours in the day. Luckily, project ended yesterday - back to my normal routine. Good to hear from you.   21. Today is my 1 month surgerverasary!!! This has been the longest month food wise but I do not regret a day. I totally look at food differently, i have more energy, my clothes fit lighter, and I am down 24lbs. :) I have been on a stall for the past week, hopefully it ends soon

  22. I was going to buy some to try, but they say that your taste buds may change after surgery, so I did not want to waste my money. I was going to start buying a pack of that sample sets they have mentioned on here ,and try some of those isopure or whatever they are they sell at GNC. I thought if the protein stuff was bad enough I would just buy me a shot glass to keep by me and drink them that way. lol Oh and hold my nose at the same time. lol I may get some of that unflavored protein to add to my food. I will try that DaVinci Gourmet Syrups from Sams are they by the protein mixes? Wow you have been on your preop since the 3rd, that is a long time. Are you doing the count down yet? lol

  23. Hi LESFLUFFYZ,

     

    On the internet, we are all near-neighbours! I've had no protein supplements, but am trying to get it all from food, as advised by my doctor. Canned tuna with a drop of light mayo is good, and I had carpaccio for dinner last night, which must have given me a few grams! If I have had a 'bad day' when I can't eat, I have a SlimFast drink mid-afternoon. I am convinced my scales are broken, as I've stalled again!!

  25. I am sorry it has been so long.. I was away from home and didn't have internet.. I used my phone to get online every once in a while but it is hard. I am feeling pretty good. I had my surgery on July 10 and I am already down 15 lbs. ISN"T THAT CRAZY?? I am so happy with it! I can eat fish and soft foods now but honestly I'm just not hungry.. I am so glad I did this :D
