SIPS in Seattle got a reaction from FluffyChix in Favorite things you can do now that you couldn't before, or things you're looking forward to doing?
Your feet will shrink and maybe even go down a size! I used to wear 9s now they’re all too big. I’ve been trying on 8 and 8.5 in shoes.

SIPS in Seattle got a reaction from LaLaDee in Recovery for Singles
I don’t have any advice about the family...my personal experience with dogs is what I want to offer. 10+ years ago I had spinal fusion surgery and I was really worried about my two 80+ lb young golden retrievers hurting me. From the moment I got home, they were the most gentle amazing comfort to me. They shared our bed and not once did they hurt me. Our fur babies just seem to know when they need to take it easy with us.
I would just be extra careful for the first few weeks with walkies, get a no pull harness or something. The pulling might harm your stitches.
Good luck!

One thing I’ve started to do when a guy sends me his junk... is to send one back... and be like “oh I thought we were comparing”

SIPS in Seattle reacted to GassyGurl in Sleeve sizes
I asked my surgeon about this, as the say they remove 80%. He said the percentage removed is not a precise measurement, as everyone's stomach is naturally a different size. It's hard to put a number on it. If they use the same size bougie on your stomach and my stomach, they might remove 90% of yours, but only 70% of mine. It's not like they measure your stomach, calculate the cc's it holds, and perform the surgery based on that. They use the bougie for sizing, and everyone is left with the same diameter sleeve, but some might be longer, shorter, etc based on their initial stomach size.
There might be special cases of course, but my surgeon uses the same process for everyone. The 80% is a general percentage of how much stomach is removed, because they really cant or don't measure it.

SIPS in Seattle reacted to jess9395 in Sleeve sizes
Chose a physician you trust and then trust the physician you chose.
They all have their own techniques they have developed and I don’t think it’s wise to ask one to do things differently.
Also, they use the same technique to guide the diameter of the sleeve in their patents, but that is going to be a different percentage in different patients because a 5’ tall woman’s stomach is SHORTER than a 6’ tall man’s so if the doc makes the diameter the same because of their technique it may remove 80% of the woman’s stomach but only 70% of the man’s

SIPS in Seattle reacted to Over and Out in Recovery for Singles
Thanks! Mine is fairly good at that when we're inside but if we're outside and she sees a squirrel, or a bird, it's over. I do use a gentle leader. But I don't actually walk her because I can't walk (hip arthritis). I shuffle along hanging on to the railing to get her outside to do her business. Usually, 4-5 days a week she will go and spend 6-8 hours being a backup sheepdog on my parent's farm. Then she comes back exhausted and snuggles with me. So it's just those little in and out trips I'm worried about--and picking up after her.

SIPS in Seattle reacted to SassyScienceNerd in Am so tired of people who ask every ten minutes why they're not losing weight
Here's a rant:
You know what I don't like? Country music. So when I stumble into a local bar called "Cowboy Saloon" and there's a room called "This Room Is All Basically Country Music At High Volume" and they are, in fact, playing country music, you know what I do? I leave. I leave as voluntarily as I came in.
You know what I don't do? I don't walk around the bar full of people enjoying country music telling them that it's soulless and cliche and isn't what I like to hear and offends my ears and I demand they stop.
I just leave. I don't make some big scene and scream "Country music is the worst and I am leaving!" I just... you know, take off, and find a bar playing jazz music. Or sit in my car and listen to NPR.

Congrats! I was so friggen happy to get rid of that torture device. So happy to get rid of the port and the aches and pains that it gave me.
You’re gonna love your SIPS!

SIPS in Seattle reacted to Strivingforbetter in Just had revision from Lap-Band to SIPS
Me too!! It was a relief to not have that port under my skin any longer. I lost more in my first week with my DS than I did the entire time I had my lap-band. That was such a stinkin' waste of money. I have absolutely no regrets with my DS.
