    Things you wish you'd known.

I had very little pain and went back to work after a week. I wish I had been prepared for the buyers regret phase. I had about a week (while I was recovering) when I kept having mental attacks of "holy crap, what did I do!" I know it was frustration over not eating, feeling wonky and all that but it did pass and now 1 month post op I have no regrets or doubts. Another thing that has been learn as I go is getting used to sipping Water. I live in the south and it gets to be 110 outside and I feel like I am constantly thirsty. I keep sipping but have learned that crushed ice and SF pop cycles work the best on helping you feel hydrated. I am still struggling on timing out my eating too. It seems so odd to put my fork or spoon down after each bite and savor the meal instead of cleaning my plate in 30 seconds. I am getting better though.

How are the Post op people doing?

@@Moogle @ Yikes, I am so glad I got moved to the pureed stage at day 7. Still doing mostly Jello and popcicles and other full liquids but the chicken salad and stuff like that helps me feel a little more normal and less What did I just do to myself! @@waterwoman what caused the obstructions? That is no way to start the new journey. I hope you get some healing done!

    you look amazing.
  10. I am now 1 week post op and just now feeling 100% positive I made the right move. Still struggling with the whole 2 tbsps thing but I think I am starting to get better at it. Did any of you have a "what did I just do!!!!" moment or have any adjustments to make post op?

    New stop signs?

So I had a band for 5 years until it slipped and wash removed a year ago. I went with RNY and am 1 week post op. So, I thought it would be an easy transition but the fullness feels different and I don't know my stop signals anymore. With my band it was a runny nose or a heavy sigh. Also having a year without anything put me back into some pretty bad habits on portion and speed eating. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

    regret

When I had the band I always knew I could reverse it with an unfill, it seemed like I always had an escape plan. I never used it that way but it was nice to know that if one day I wanted out and to eat whatever I wanted that it was there. Unfortunately, my band had an out plan too and decided it didn't want to hang out anymore. 1 year later and with all the 160lbs I lost back I am 1 week post op on the RNY and having the same mental issues as you. It was really bad the first day or two when I could barely get down a medicine cup of Water and then thinking that it will be like this forever no escape plan. I feel better mentally each day and now that I am on pureed food it is really better. I am still stuggling with the mental part of eating and portion sizes but overall I feel good.
