  1. Welcome Denise! I'm getting banded on Dec. 29th. too! Yayyy for us! I'm 5'2 1/2 or 5'3 depending on who you ask. (smile) Before the pre-op diet I was 226lbs, and havelost 5 lbs so far. I haven't actually had a consultation yet with my surgeon, (it's scheduled for the 26th) so I don't know what he'll have as my goal weight. I personally would be happy at between 140-150lbs. I've told several people at work because I am hoping for their support in addition to my family's. Any negativity will just be ignored. I think the 4 week post-op diet is my biggest worry also, but after my hysterectomy and my back surgery I had to force myself to eat for about 2 months. So I'm hoping my hunger will disappear this time too! I'm glad we found this board too. Take care and keep us informed. Butterfly
  2. Hi Bigbaby, sorry so long answering. The process for pre-cert wasn't long! My 1st visit to AIGB was Oct. 13th and after completing Psych visit, stress test, nutritionist (in case my L A Weight Loss diet wasn't enough for Ins.), Paperwork submitted 11-28 and approved on 12-6. Whew!!! The pre-op diet consists of 2 high protein meals and 3 protein shakes. Coffee/tea with Splenda, low fat/sugar and carbs. Not too bad. I'm glad it's not the all liquid diet like some have to do. Also, since I'm going to Richardson Regional I have to stay overnight in the hosp. But we must do what we have to, RIGHT???!! Good Luck and keep me informed Butterfly
  3. Hi All, I originally posted my date as Dec. 21st but due to insurance problem it's changed to Dec. 29th. Also, due to ins-location is no longer SCOR, it's at Richardson Regional Hosp. I heard it was a nice place. I asked Dr. Benavides scheduler if I was still having the Lapband, since they had changed everything else!!!:paranoid She thought that was quite funny.:girl_hug: ShyTexRose-guess I won't see you there. Anyway, congrats to all having surgery this week and I'm right behind you!!! Butterfly
  4. Hi everyone, I'm getting banded 12-29-06 by Dr. Richard Benavides in Dallas, TX, and would like to know if anyone has any knowledge/experience with him? It seems nobody has seen my previous posts asking about him, and it's probably something I'm doing wrong on the posting? If anyone can help me-please jump right in!! (smiles) Thanks in advance, and have a great weekend.
  5. Hi, I originally posted on the Introduction page, and it was suggested that I post here also. I live in Ferris, TX (near Dallas) and my surgeon is Dr. Richard Benavides. I was originally scheduled on Dec. 21, at SCOR but received a call last night that I've been rescheduled for Dec. 29, 2006 at Richardson Regional Hosp AND I have to stay overnight!!!!!. I was all pumped about next week, but now just a little disappointed. And the only thing that hasn't changed is the Dr. and the type of surgery( I made SURE to get THAT straight!!!!!):welldone2: And now that's another whole week on the pre-op diet!:hungry: Oh well, such is life. I'm still thrilled to be having this done.At least maybe I can cheat just a little, hunh? Anyway, congratulations to all you December bandsters, and I'm soooo happy to be a part of you. Thanks, Butterfly
  6. Hi Devanna, Thank you for those ideas, I'll check them out. Getting my band will be the best Xmas present I could give myself, I won't miss the humongous meals around the holidays. I just want to be healthy!! I have high blood pressure, knee osteoarthritis, sleep apnea and a family history of type 2 diabetes. If I can avoid getting diabetes it will be worth that alone! BTW you have done a wonderful job so far with your weight loss. CONGRATULATIONS!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:
  7. Hi, I would like to introduce myself. I am having surgery 12-21-06 and am on my 5th day of pre-op diet. It's getting kinda challenging for me, but I know what the end is gonna be! I live in Dallas and my surgery is being done by Dr. Benavides at Surgery Center of Richardson. Although I've heard he's very good, I've never actually talked to anyone he's banded, so any info. on him or SCOR is welcome. This board is so informative, and sooo supportive. I have done lots of research but there's nothing like getting information from the horse's mouth!! So thanks to everyone, and have a wonderful holiday season.
  8. Hello everyone, I've also been lurking on this board as well as OBHelp.com. I have learned so much from you guys, and hope to be able to help others like you've helped me. I am also having surgery on Dec. 21, at Surgery Center of Richardson, with Dr. Benavides. I was approved last week and everything is happening so fast. I'm very excited! If anyone has any info about him and the facility I would appreciate it. ShyTexRose-maybe I'll see you there. My surgery is at 7:15 or 7:30am. (I forgot in my excitement!) Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and wish everyone a Happy Holiday season.
