Hi, I would like to introduce myself. I am having surgery 12-21-06 and am on my 5th day of pre-op diet. It's getting kinda challenging for me, but I know what the end is gonna be! I live in Dallas and my surgery is being done by Dr. Benavides at Surgery Center of Richardson. Although I've heard he's very good, I've never actually talked to anyone he's banded, so any info. on him or SCOR is welcome. This board is so informative, and sooo supportive. I have done lots of research but there's nothing like getting information from the horse's mouth!! So thanks to everyone, and have a wonderful holiday season.

Hi Butterfly, welcome and congratulations on your surgery date. It's kind of like an interesting Christmas present, isn't it?

You might want to check out the Doctors and Hospitals threads for specific information on Dr. B.

You also might want to hook up with the December bandster's thread.

Hi Devanna,

Thank you for those ideas, I'll check them out. Getting my band will be the best Xmas present I could give myself, I won't miss the humongous meals around the holidays. I just want to be healthy!! I have high blood pressure, knee osteoarthritis, sleep apnea and a family history of type 2 diabetes. If I can avoid getting diabetes it will be worth that alone! BTW you have done a wonderful job so far with your weight loss. CONGRATULATIONS!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

I just wanted to say welcome and what a wonderful Christmas present you are getting. I knew it would change my life but each day I just can't get over what I thought would never happen. For the past 5 years that I've been overweight I've noticed how people don't want to fool with overweight people. No one honks they're horns at you letting you know how good you look. I've avoided family portraits, I've played sick when events would come up so I would not have to go. I've played sick and not went to church like I should because I didn't have anything big enough to wear. Now, just 5 months postop, although I still need to loose 60 more I've lost about 60 pounds and I have went from all of those Lane Bryant size 24 jeans that look absolutely horrible on to regular size 18's. No more plus size shirts, just large and extra large. I am not hiding anymore, don't mind having my picture took. You will just be soooooo proud of how much easier weight loss is when you get your band. I'm very proud for you and wish you all the luck in the world.

Congrats on your surgery date...and welcome Black Butterfly. Keep us posted on your progress.

To All Who responded-Thanks so much for the warm welcome!! There has however been a change of surgery date-now it's Dec 29th. I am so looking for to getting to know you all thru LBT, and exchanging info. on our weight loss journeys. I just hope my weight loss is as good as everyone's I've seen here on the boards. But at least now whatever I lose will hopefully be gone for good!

I can't wait to get started.
