  1. I suffer from PTSD, Bi-Polar and Anxiety. I currently take Abilify and Ativan...both are teeny tiny. They do bother my tummy a bit, so I definetely have to take them at meal time. Mornings seem best when I take them with a protein drink. Hope you get some resolution. Good Luck!

So has anyone ever had numbness on your abdomen after surgery?? I know I didn't have this back in 2009 when my lapband was first placed. This is 7 days post-op for the slippage and my tummy is still numb. Weird or normal?? Hmmm I'm glad I'm going to the Dr.'s today...kinda starting to concern me a bit.
  3. Walk walk walk walk...as much as you can tollerate...seriously was the best advice I was given to help withe the Gas Pain. Good Luck!
  4. I completely agree...your Dr. is being careless. You should at least be eating...I think your Dr. is setting you up for failure and alot of problems. Just my oppinion. Good Luck.
  5. Good Luck...keep us all informed on how your feeling )
  6. Its different for everyone, but at 6 weeks out...I was barely eating scrambled eggs and cottage cheese. Thats all I could really eat that was solid that didn't bother me. Of course I still did the typical liquid diet...protein shakes, jello, broth...etc. I couldn't eat out at 6 weeks if I even wanted to.
  7. Keeping you in our prayers for safe surgery and speedy recovery!
  8. Aww..thank you so much. I'm the same way with the sweating...lol...excercise has become my new addiction )
  9. Thank you Sandradee....and Afitme, I'm the same way. My poor hubby this last week I know I've been sponge bob cranky pants...lol It is what it is )
  10. I want to scream and run out of my house. I never thought in a million years I would ever say I LOVE TO EXCERCISE...its my new drug. I cannot wait to go back to the Dr.'s tomorrow and hopefully get released back to a normal routine. Having surgery for this Slippage is not going to bring me down, it just motivates me to stay stronger!!!
  11. I was very sick with the Flu for 2 weeks which landed me in the ER with the most horrific pain I'd ever experienced in my life. After 2 days in the ER, they did a Barium Swallow and sure enough my band had slipped half way down my stomach. Mine was stitched in place in my original surgery on 2/5/09. I've followed Dr. 's orders since the beginning and have had great success. I underwent surgery on 9/21/10 to reposition the band. The only thing I would do differently now...when I came down with the Flu and started vomitting...I would go straight to the Dr. to have my band unfilled until I'm well again. I thought I was invicible. Band Slips can happen even if your doing everything right.
  12. I'm so sorry your having to go through this. Two weeks ago I came down with the Flu, vomitting ...my band slipped. I was in the ER fro 2 days, where they unfilled my band...after doing a Barium Swallow to find out it had slipped. My problem was that my original surgery was done in Nevada, and I now live in Washington....nobody wanted to touch me. They released me from the hospital and my paperwork said..."Non emergent need for repair". The pain was unbearable. I finally found a Dr. to do the surgery...and he is phenominal!!! I would be finding a new Doctor if I were in your position. Fight for your care, this is your life they are messing with. Best of luck to you!!
  13. Have you had any testing done...Barium swallow to make sure the band hasn't slipped and is positioned correctly??
  14. Welcome Laysee...the first steps always were the hardest for me, but stay strong and motivated and Whamm, next thing you know your crossing the finish line. My adventure has been the toughest I've made in my adult life, and like many others...I wouldn't change a thing. I just found this site last week, and I had my original band placed 2/5/09. I wish I would of had the support along the way...so this is a great place for you to start. Everyone is so inspirational and motivated....even on your bad days...they are here for you. Good Luck...YOU CAN DO IT!

Thank you so much for the compliments...I hope I can be there for all of you, just as you have for me )
  17. You are so inspirational....go get em!!!
  18. I was just venting on this issue...for me there are definete people I would chose not to tell. They are uneducated about the whole process and see Lapband as a crutch not a tool. They have this preconditioned notion that the weight just "falls" off because of the Lapband. Its alot of hard work and you deserve credit for all the milestones you cross along the way! I say chose wisely who let into your "choice" to make a change in your life. I honestly wish that the only people who knew were my husband and my children...they truely have backed me 200% and know how hard I've worked to get to where I am today...and it was far from easy. The toughest choices I've ever had to make in my entire life. Good lucky on your journey to a new you...and make the best decision for "you".
  19. Love love love your positive attitude. I'm am right there with you on the need and love for excercise...whoaa I never thought I'd ever say that, but I really do enjoy it now. We have some in common, I also gave up breads, pasta, and for the most part potatoes (its an occassion splurge on potatoes for me) I think that has helped me get to where I'm at today. Keep it up...you are doing this and have so much to be proud of...HURRAY
  20. This a really emotional thread for me, and although you may not see the tears...they are rolling down my cheeks as I type. Why "was" I fat...well first and foremost I take all accountability, even for my actions as a young child...after all I was the one holding the fork shoveling in the food to feed the needs in my life that weren't being met. A childhood survivor of Sexual Abuse...in my warped brain I thought if I looked unappealing the abuse would stop. I suffered from PTSD, Anxiety and on top of that Bi-Polar. Food became my comfort, the only thing I could actually control in the world around me that seemed so unfair. Why am I "not" fat now. I took control of my life...exchanging every negative with a positive. I still suffer from PTSD, Anxiety and Bi-Polar...but I choose to deal with it differently. I reached out for help, and to my surprise...I found some phenominal people there to help me cope. For me, counseling was a major first step and medication. I'm not ashamed of my mental illness and why should I be. If I were diabetic, would I hide it, or seek our Dr.'s assistance. I took my life back, and put the shame back into the hands of the people who hurt me...right where it belongs. I don't need their validation of the pain they caused. This is my life now, and at 42 yrs. old...a fresh beginning. I also believe that all things good and bad happen for a reason and are part of who you are today...right now. I love me and I'm a Survivor. This is a small portion of my story...and if it helps one person...then its a success. Standing with my head up high!

Thank you Sandradee...made me blush just a bit! Yes I had the stomach flu...I've never been so sick in my life. I should of went to the Dr. and had my band unfilled...but thought Naaaa "it can't happen to me"....I'll never think so lightly again. Dr. Nguyen was able to move my band back up into place and stitched it in....and there is some question on whether my orginal Dr. where I used to live place it correctly in the beginning. I never did any x-rays or barium swallows or anything to check the placement after surgery. This time...they took all kinds of pics the to make sure it was all ok. I really love my Doctor...could ask for someone so supportive and explained all of this to me. Reassuring me it wasn't my fault. And now I have this site....which is amazing. Hard to talk to family and friends...they just don't understand. Again, Thank you for the compliments and have a wonderful day!

Aww this is the fun part....WAY to GO....keep it up. I love your spirit and energy and hope we can get to know one another and encourage each other to the finish line....This is truely amazing isn't it ) Even though I just had to have my band reattached...slipped during a bad 2 weeks with the Flu...I'm trying to stay positive. Reading your Blog is really uplifting. Have a wonderful Day!!

Earlier today we were going through some photos from a few years back and I was taken completely by surprise that I did not even recognize myself. When did this happen? Then the tears came, for what reason I'm not sure. For the longest time when I looked in the mirror, I still saw the FAT GIRL staring back at me...when did she leave and allow me to have a new self image?? Am I finally seeing the reality of this adventure I've been on. Have I purposely stayed away from seeing my reflection out of fear of what I'd see looking back at me?? I'm stunned and excited, almost left speechless. WOW, I REALLY DID IT!! I've actually hit my original goal that I set back in Feb. 2009 which was 168lbs...I never dreamed I'd actually make it...and now I'm setting a new goal to lose another 20lbs...to 148lbs. I also wanted to share that I had a nurse say I was "skinny"...WHO ME...(looking all around) you couldn't possibly be saying that to me right...I've always been the "FAT GIRL". I may not be perfect, but I am really starting to love the way I feel...more so than how I look...the energy that I have to do the things I love has been phenominal. HOLY BEGEESHES....I REALLY DID IT....WOW, JUST WOW!!
  25. My family is the same way...I was just venting on this subject earlier. They said it would never happen, that I wouldn't be a size 12...well guess what. I DID IT! (still losing too) Although my family takes it one step further by announcing to total strangers that I had Lapband surgery and "you should have seen her before" that comment gets under my skin the most...like I was some unsightly monster or something. Go get em' girl and remember your doing this for YOU! Damn Haters...ughhh
