WLS or relationship :( I may have to choose
Speaking from experience, you have to have a solid support group around you after surgery. You will be emotional and things will be difficult at first. Putting that aside, if I had a boyfriend that didn't try to understand me and support a very meaningful and important decision like this then I would have to really ask myself why I was in the relationship. I was in a relationship for 10 years and decided one day that I was worth way more then he could ever give me. I think you should reflect on this more and really think about this. If you don't do the surgery you will blame him for it for years. What if yall break up? Then you will think that you wasted time that you could have been doing something for yourself.

All I want is my WLS UGGGGGH!!!
I can relate to you. I did the same thing. I found what worked for me. Once my paperwork was submitted to my insurance co. I called the doctors office and my insurance co. once a week to see if it had been approved. They got tired of hearing from me so it might have helped. Once I got the authorization my surgery was scheduled but it was over a month out. I called every two days to see if there was a surgery cancelation sooner. Ended up happening 3 weeks before my scheduled surgery date. I hope this helps.

Worried...Worried...???
I do medical billing and most authorizations do have an expiration date but it depends on the insurance and the person who obtainned the auth as to when it will expire. I wish you best of luck.

Today marks 2 months since surgery
Today marks two months since surgery and I am 54 pounds down. I can't believe the weight loss but more then that I am starting to feel so much better. I am starting to have more energy and I am having to work harder to get my heart rate up while working out. Other then that, my body doesn't hurt as much as it use to. I still have a long way to go but boy... this feels awesome. I won't lie the first few weeks after surgery were hard but I got better day by day. For those of you new to the surgery and still in your post op Phase.... it gets better I promise. Keep your head up and keep going. Thanks to everyone for all there support. Pictures will follow later!

What does restriction feel like?
For me.. I have to pay attention while I eat to get the "full signal" and stop. But if I keep eating then I will get pressure in my left arm and I will start slimming I think is what they call it. It's that feeling that your kinda warm and clamy but your mouth is watering like your going to be sick. Sometimes walking around helps the food move and get past the slimming feeling but it is not pleasant.

Scared and scared I'm going to cancel and bolt
Trouble - talk to your doctor about your concerns. Personally I have never had the band so I can't compare to what you are going through. It is a life decision. I don't regret my decision in the least but if the reflux is that much of an issue for you I would not hesitate to contact my doctor about it.

Today Sucked!
I think that you are feeling a difference because of the higher carbs and it has been different. Don't be so hard on yourself just commit to getting back on track.

Have 100+ lbs to loose?
I am right there with ya Texas... I have about 140 to 150 to lose.
-
Has anyone felt like they aren't...
I felt that way also. It has been Wed will be 2 months and I have lost a little over 50 pounds. I think that we are just impatient and we have been wanting this so long that waiting and taking it slow is hard for us. I am in the same boat where I need to lose well over 100 pounds and I am just now starting to see the weight loss after 2 months and 50 pounds. I think once we see the difference it will make it worth it. We just have to hang in there until then.

Do you feel irritable, weak, and unable to concentrate at first?
I had problems concentrating and emotional problems my first 3 weeks post op. But once that was over and I could get more fluids in it really helped. I think it had to do with dehydration. But I don't get the weak, irritable, and frustrated feeling I use to before the surgery. I don't really feel hunger the same way.

1 year out for me today
Such an inspiration!! Congrats

What do YOU eat in a typical day?
a week shy of 2 months post op. If it is solid protein I can get in just over 2 oz and nothing else. Sometimes 3 depending on the type of protein. Other then that - if it is less dense I can do 4 ozs.

Weird complication...
I agree that checking with your doctor is a good idea. I am not diabetic but post op I did have problems with focusing until about 3 weeks out. I didn't notice the vision but maybe it is a side effect of the anesthic

I finally get to say it: ONDERLAND!!!
SO happy for you. Congrats!

BM after the Sleeve
I agree that I seem to think it has something to do with eating less. But I have found a trick that works for me. On Saturdays I drink a cup and a half of coffee and it absolutely helps with the process. I am not sure why that is but my nutricianst seems to believe that coffee can ate as a stimulate.

I am getting super anxious.....(Long)
I know what you mean about relationship revolving around food. It was really hard for me the first 4 weeks post op but it does seem to be easier now. I think that I have changed where the volume of food I eat doesn't matter. I take my time cutting my protein talking and eating. The company and conversations are still great but I am just not shoveling food down my throat. But I won't down play it, you will have to change your mentality. It's no longer about food it really is about enjoying that 2 oz's of food, the flavors, and the company.

How to tell my PCP after the fact
Since you only see him 2 times a year my advise is just to say it and get it out there. He may ask questions for example "Why did you take such a drastic step". But it should all lead up to the discussion of your current issues. Since I work for PCP's I have found that most of them roll with the punches and alot of them are use to finding things out after the fact.

Scale Victory
Wow you inspire me. I have around the same amount to lose. YOu give me hope.

Goooaaalllll!!!!!!!!!!!!
congrats........

Was it worth it?
Maddie, I am only 5 weeks post op but I remember exactly where you are. I promise things will get better. The more that you can get your protein in and slowly get more calaries and walk - the pounds will start falling off. Everyone go's through the frustration it just may be a different times. It does get better day by day just continue doing what you know you should be doing. :thumbup1:

Kinda bummed!!!!
I would definately say that if you are comfortable with the doctor then it's time to do the injections. It's only a precaution and definately to keep you safe. I remember doing the Heprin injections in the hospital and I didn't even feel them. Hopefully your injections will be the same way at home.
