Hello Fellow Lap Band Friends!
Welcome Teach I am also in the insurance approval process and looking at mid June for my sugery. I am already drinking protein shakes every morning. The protein I am using is Designer Whey Protein. I switch between French Vanilla and Choc. I also tried the Unjury brand which I really liked but it seemed very expensive. I think it is all about preference. But if I can give any advise it is not to judge the protein just one first try. At least give a second go of it. Welcome to the site. There are so many helpful people on this site. And alot of success stories to help keep you motivated. Welcome and I am sure I will see more of you.

This is gross I know - Pooping Issues
I have not been banded, but I do work in the medical field. My best recommendation is for you to see the doctor. It sounds that it has been going on too long to be a virus and too long for it to be your digestive system adjusting to the band. See your doctor if for nothing else then ease of mind.

Body wraps?
I have never had one before. I might try one but just wanted to see what other's opinion were.

Body wraps?
Just a quick question. Has anyone tried doing body wraps to help with te sagging skin? I have heard that doing them routinely during the coarse of the journey will help with the sagging skin but wanted to check to see if any one has experienced it first hand.

So disgusted with it all (and myself)
Hi Tracy, I have not had the band yet but I have been an active gym person for almost a year now. I stopped smoking at he same time that I stopped smoking. But anyway for the last two weeks I have not been able to go to the gym due to some problems with my hips and BOY!! I can tell the difference in my eating habits. I know I need to get back to the gym and regardless of the hip pain I am going back Monday. I have been doing the same as you and that is GRAZING. I think that being active and exercising releases those "feel good" hormones that help us stay on track. I wish you all the luck in the world. Let us know how everything works out.

How do you keep busy to avoid eating?
What a great thread! I have not had the band yet - still in my 6 month supervised diet phase but to keep myself from eating I read, surf the net, quilt, do my nails during my favorite shows, whitening my teeth, and anything and I do mean ANYTHING..... to keep my hands busy and my mind off food.

Discouraged!!!
The gym I go to is really small and doesn't have any type of pool. It being more small is the reason I love it so much and the reason why it's so easy for me to go to because I feel comfortable going there. The other plus is that it is right downstairs from my work. With it being right downstairs I don't even have a chance to talk myself out of going.

Discouraged!!!
I have not had the lap band yet. I am still in my 6 month supervised diet phase. But I have been going to the gym faithfully for almost a year now. Well this is the second time this has happened but I have inflamation in my hip flexors which is limiting my cardio time. I am trying to stay active in the gym because I want it to be a life change and something I continue to do. But I don't see where I can keep this up until I loss some weight where working out wont be so hard on my joints and body. Am I crazy for thinking this way?

Grrrr!!! Okay this wait is killing me!!! I?m losing my mind!!! Help!!!!
I know exactly how you feel. I have been wanting the band for over 2 years now and finally my insurance changes to one that will cover it but I have to do a 6 month pre & supervised diet. I have 3 more months. The only thing that I have found that helps is researching the procedure. Looking at any and ALL information. I must have read every post on this forum. But it really helps and gets your mind set right. I even did the virtual model to know what I look like once I hit goal. Looked at menus to see how far in advance I will need to prepare food once I can eat solids. I have done all kinds of things. Even watched the procedure on Youtube. Those things really help though

Just had to put it out there
I wish you all the luck in the world. It doesn't seem impossible to me. Keep moving and drink water and watch your cals. Take it from another woman who was cheated on and left because of the "just to fat" reason, I understand completely how you want jaws to drop. You will have to keep me updated and let me know how it go's. Good luck!

Tomorrow is my first Lap band consult appt
Well guys, I found out 11/01/09 that my insurance will be changing 1/1/10 to a policy that will cover the lap band. I went to my first seminar on 11/05/09 and my second one on 11/10/09. My consultation is scheduled for tomorrow just to start the ball rolling. I know that my new insurance plan will require a 6 month physican supervised diet. Anyone have any suggestions? I have thought of going to my PCP now and just self paying for the visit just to get things started. What do you guys think? Anyone have the same experiences?

Insurance company changes
Hi, I currently have thyroid disease but I am not sure why they are removing your thyroid instead of putting you on thyroid medication? Insurance changes are always hard. I have not had the procedure done yet because of waiting for my employers insurance to change to one that covers the band. It is finally happening 01/01/10. But my first question is why romove your thyroid when they will have to put you on medication anyway.

Is this for me ???
Hi, I have just recently started looking into the banding procedure. I have been fighting my weight all my life from the time I was a toodler. I currently am not only fighting a relationship that has recently ended but also sever thyroid disorder. I have always wanted to do something about my weight and I have tried everything aside from surgery. I have been on every diet imaginable and in order to lose weight I have to do 90% more then someone normally would. I am desprite to do something life changing. I want to be a different person on the outside. I don't want this anymore and I want people to see me for me and not as an overweight woman. I want to be happy with myself and increase my health. I have heard positive things and negative I just am not sure where I might fit in. I am trying to decide if this is the right thing for me. Please help with any advice... Thanks:faint:

Just started considering banding
Hi, I have just recently found out about the banding procedure and started doing research. I am 28 years old and have struggled with my weight all my life. My major concern is my insurance company covering the procedure. I have struggled with my weight all my life and luckily I have the same primary care doctor for the last 10 years or so. The only thing that I am worried about is that I do have Hypothyroidism. It uncontrolled and a large part of that is because of my weight. Do you think my thyroid disorder will cause a problem with my insurance company covering the band procedure? Thanks for the help
