  1. Hocuspocus I have the same problem. Thought it was just me. I will ask when I go for my appt next wk. I'm 10 days post op. Also I let out a sneeze and it hurt so bad. Was wondering if port tubing touching something I don't k ow. Friend of mine said just give it time cause they go in there an move around things during the surgery. Please let me know I u find out before I do
  2. No it's normal what you're feelin. I had meltdown night after surgery crying and looking for how much it would cost to get band out. If your female it messes with your hormones as well. Rapid weight loss, trauma of surgery etc. I'm 9 days post op and a psychotherapist so go figure! Nobody prep me that there can be emotional let down shortly after surgery. I wanted to tell by doc when. See Himmler next week they need to mention this in semi ar or post op take home pack
  3. Depends on your doc but my doc is not a fan of wasting money on high dollar viatamins. he said you dont need the bariatric vitamins b/c its not gastirc bypass. I take centrum adult chewables and they work just fine. costs 10bucks at walmart. those bariatric vitamins cost bout 30 bucks for 1 month supply
  4. sounds like not enough protein. Im newly banded by 7 days but lost alot of weight prior. You have to get at least 50-60g protein in per day, plus you walking and running which depletes calories as well. Your cody may be in starvation mode of not enough protein then mix those salty store bought foods like lean cuisne that make u retain fluids. Im not a doc or nutritionist but I would say cut down on excercise for 1 week to say just walking, and up protein intake by making your meals like tofu, lean meat or adding some whey protein shakes and then see how it goes. and dont be so hard on yourself. None of us im sure gained this weight overnight so it wont dissappear that wya. the band is ntended to to help you lose weight slower than with other WLS. Be blessed and keep your head up.
  5. I get liquid protein whey shots from walmart. they are 1.88 each or box of 6 for 10 bucks. they are fruit punch flavor. They taste okay if mixed with little crystal light or I use it as water for my jello and it tastes decent. each 1 has 25g protein. So example I mix with box SF jello and makes 4, 1/2 cup servings for me
  6. same here I loss about 11 1/2 lbs first 4 days as well. Thats what they tell me. thought something was wrong
  7. Is it just me or did any of the ladies have hormonal, menstrual changes after surgery. I am day 7 post op today and within 2 days after surgery menses came 2 weeks early, which explains why I was a crying, blubbering mess 1st few days after surgery. Nurse told me that can happen. Any one else experience these changes post op?
  8. Im allowed to have protein shakes and Im 6 days post op. Im starving right now!. First few days had to make myself eat, now im looking for next drink. I did cheat today and have a small mcdonalds strawberry banana smoothy over the course of 30 minutes. I paid for it though with gas and then I was scared that I would push my band too fast. No more for me! I cant wait for next week and I geet mushies
  9. I lost 341bs preop during 6 mos waiting. No prob with insurance either. I think it lets doc know how serious you are as well
  10. Go to walmart. I use eas sport advantedge powder an premixed shakes. Mix 1 11 oz shake with scoop of powder. Split into 3 parts. = 37g protein. Have for 3 meals. Get other protein wig your snacks
  11. Hey lady. I am doing better work was okay. Still sore but doc allowing me to sleep on my side just not my stomach. Pre op diet and surgery did a number on my hormones and it made me premenstrual earlier than expected. Go figure but nurse said that can happen. I'm hungry though and can't wait till I can have mushies next week
  12. Your drinking alot sounds like. I was told my meals should be 2-4 oz each. So I make a protein shake with whey powder added for the entire day to get in my protein. Other stuff extra hydration. I try and focus on getting in the 50-60g of protein per day. Also I make jello with protein shots from walmart added to mix in lieu of water. Sounds like u need to slow down
  13. I'm 5 day post op. No hiccups but gas and indigestion. Try gas x it really does help. Walk around some. Sounds like u need to eat as far a trying some warm broth or something
  14. I had this and was found out during endoscopy in 7/10. My doc treated it very aggressively because sometimes the prev pac doesnt work. I took 2 different antibiotics and prevacid for 2 weeks and though I was gonna die from taking it so long. Anyway I survived. It was no biggy. Never in my life heard of it being sexually transmitted. Sorry. I know it can live for years inside digestive track. I didnt know I had it. its one of those bugs we probably all carry and it doesnt affect you unless you have ulcers etc and I developed GERD. Anyway you should be just fine:cool2:
  15. Feeling much better. Spine with my fam and they were shocked I was crying and so upset. They thought I was doing okay emotionally cause I'm always the pillar of strength. Well they apologized and trie to cheer me up. I left work to come home and lie down and I feel a little better. The hunger is starting to kick in. Can't wait till next week to start. The mushies. If I don't see another choc protein shake or bowl of jello would suit me fine. :-). also called nurse and was told to take the phenergan for nausea, rest and ye scan sleep on my sides but not belly cause port in belly button area
  16. Also I barely ate day 1 took hours to drink cup of crystal light. Take couple of sips at a time. Also walk around house few minutes at a time to get gas moving down and out
  17. I am day 4 post op. Gas x strips are my best friend right now. Have someone go get the quick diss e ones.
  18. Hi I am newly banded as well. surgery was 9/16. still adjusting emotionally to all of this. the food is not bothering me much. Im hypervigilent I think about every unusual ache or pain. I am using the gasx strips and they are great. liquid tylenol too. I save the dvarvocet for bed time and I only take half. I have a 10yr old son. Stay in touch.
  19. Good morning to all from NC. I am new to the site. I received my Lap Band Thurs 9/16/10. Its been a journey not knowing what to feel or expect. Been alot of gas and discomfort. But suprising to me I had a little emotional melt down where I wanted the band out night of surgery. I felt weird but was okay after given something for nausea and pain. Looking for friends to correspond with. I feel like im on an island right now. The support I had prior has wained. I think my parents are upset with me they didnt want me to do it- go figure when all of the adult women in immediate family are obese and have multiple helath problems. Anyway, Im back at work today and we shall see how it goes:unsure:
  20. Cool. During 6 mos program with surgeon I lost 34 lbs pre op. Won't be weighed again till 2 wk follow up. Would like to get to know you and what kinda work u do. Definitely need pointers since your almost year out
