  1. Wow faybe... Your post hit home with me! I agree that being banded is just giving up larger portions instead of feeling like a diet. I definitely don't want to feel like I'm on a diet while banded...and I'm sure that I won't feel that way. Deprivation is not a good place for me to be in. Thanks to everybody for your advice & stories. It's giving me a lot to think about...
  2. Hi Di ! I'm getting banded in the city where I live, over an hour east of Paris. The surgeon I'm dealing with is the only one who does this in my city. I've been on his waiting list for a long time, but I think it will be worth the wait. Wow! So you're travelling to Belgium for your surgery? I hope you have someone to go with you! If not, I'm not too far... Do you speak French? Or does your surgery team speak English? I know sometimes it's a challenge for me trying to communicate & to even understand the doctors in a foreign language! I think a pre-op eating plan is probably a good idea, who knows? Just feeling as healthy as possible prior to surgery can't be a bad idea, right? I agree...our livers could use all the help they can get. Do keep in touch & best wishes for your banding!
  3. Thanks for all your kind words & great advice!
  4. Hi December Bandsters! My surgery date is set for the 28th of December & I am just SO excited!!! This is the BEST Christmas present I could EVER give myself. Good luck & keep us posted on how you're all doing!
  5. Thanks for responding... Are chewables the only way to go after being banded? I have surgery in 18 days...why is it not recommended to take any Vitamins beforehand?
  6. Isn't it better if we take Vitamins throughout our weight loss stages, regardless what we are eating? Anybody having a hard time digesting multi-vitamins? Anyone taking liquid Vitamin supplements? Any advice? Thank you!
  7. Any advice about which brand/flavor of protein shake to buy? Syntrax Nectar sells Fuzzy Navel, Lemonade, Strawberry/Kiwi, Cherry, Apple, etc. It seems they have about 90 calories & 23g protein for each serving when mixed with water, not milk I'm assuming. Anybody ever tasted this brand? Could anyone recommend a better one? I already have a hard time getting protein eaten, so before I get banded (in 18 days but who's counting? lol) I want to order some 'good' tasting protein shakes to help get that protein in. Thank a lot for any advice!
  8. Hi all, I'm new here & so happy to have discovered this site! I am having my surgery the 28th of December. 18 days & counting down!!!!! My doc is having me start on a fat-free yogurt diet 1 week prior to my surgery, to help reduce the size of my liver? Has everybody else had to do this too? How did you do it? I know I will be avoiding all Christmas activities because having to explain all of this is just too much. There are only a few who know I'm going through this & I'm not sure if I should tell anybody else. Any advice? Also, once I got my surgery date scheduled, I started having thoughts of, "I better eat some of that before I won't be able to eat it anymore". Anyone identify with that? What have you done to help those pre-op urges? I know it's important to shrink my liver so I want to follow the rules. I ate at an all-you-can-eat buffet yesterday just because I know it will be something of my past after I have surgery. But! I stopped eating this time before I was actually 'full', so I feel like I'm really ready for this surgery. I guess I'm trying to mentally prepare myself. Anybody have any advice for someone like me who's going into surgery in a few weeks? About eating? About exercise? About moral support? About drinking Water? I have so many questions running through my mind I don't even know where to start! Thanks in advance!!! Keep up your hard work! :clap2: What an inspiration you all are!
  9. hi everybody, i'm not in england, but i'm just across the channel...in france! i didn't see anybody else from france, so i posted in this one. :xena_banana: i'm also hoping to make it to london sometime in 2007. my surgery is scheduled for dec 28th...i'm having the pre-op anxiety, not knowing what to expect! any advice? starting 1 week prior, i'm eating nothing but non-fat yogurt.
