  1. Hi I live in Qatar and they are severely strict on narcotics, and mood altering drugs. So I was sent home the day after my band (last Thursday) with.... are you ready for it.... pediatric advil!!! So I am taking advil syrup, and ut has taken the pain away and doesn't upset my stomach. I even got up in the middle of the night last night (empty stomach of course) and had a dose (400mg) since I have back pain. It really helps with mentrual cramps and headaches too (for me. ) Cheers, HTH.
  2. Hi WAH.MOM I had my surgery yesterday around 10am. IT went well. I have been mostly sleeping since then. Last night I went for a walk in the hospital corridor and suddenly became very nauseous and very sweaty, nurse brought me back to my room and my BP was 78/56!!!! I didn't puke, and just lied down, and all was ok after that. I have some pain, not sure what is there where it hurts, my port I guess??? I have to take antibiotic syrup and they prescribed friggin pediatric advil syrup for pain!! Can you believe that? Anyways, it's not too bad. I have been sipping Water and juice only. But I feel hungry..... My husband just went to buy me some broth. LEt;s keep in touch.....

  4. Hi I am getting banded on thursday... and finding myself more and more nervous every day. But I keep telling myself this is a good decision. But also, my friend just called me, and she went to see my Dr tonight, and she is going in on the same day as me!!!! Yipee! Someone to relate to during that day. And we can cope together. I am so excited about embarking on this exciting journey, and with a friend to help along the way.
  5. So WAH.MOM.... how is it going?????? Good? Bad? Share! I go in on Thursday......
  6. Hi tko7... Looks like we have similar numbers.... I am 214 lbs and wish to be around 140 lbs. Maybe we can "buddy up" and follow our progression and issues. I think this forum is fabulous, and has been very helpful so far. I haven't really told anyone about the surgery apart from my husband and a friend. So this forum has been nice, so I can talk about it. I will eventually let my friends and colleagues know, but for now I won't. I am afraid they will try and talk me out of it, and I am focused now, I am ready. Speak later :scared2:
  7. Thank you Sandi!!! I will def keep you in mind, you are so kind. Wish me luck!
  8. Professor!!! LOL yeah right! I am a Respiratory Therapy instructor..... would never call myself a professor! I hope I can get your luck Floridaboy.... what have you been eating since the surgery (or drinking I should say?)
  9. I go in next week, on Thursday, 23-09. I am sooo nervous. I have only told my husband, and a close friend who doesn't even live in my city. Anyone else living with this guilt/shame??????
  10. Hi That makes me feel a whole lot better:smile:. I am getting banded next Thursday, and go back to work in Sunday. I am a College instructor, so at most, I will have to stand in front of a class for 2 hours at a time and try and remember about cardio-pulmonary physiology! LEt me know how you felt when you got back from work......
  11. Hello I am getting banded next Thursday, Sept 23, 2010. I am a Canadian expat living in the middle east. I have been struggling with my weight for many years... I have now reached 214 lbs (at 5'6), my BMI is 35. My target weight is 140 lbs. I am married with 2 boys aged 1 and 5. I am very nervous about the whole thing, yet excited about my commitment to a new lifestyle. I got dressed for work after being off for the summer, and nothing fit. NOTHING. I cried in the bathroom for 30 mins. The next day I went to see the Dr, had a good chat with him, and decided to go with it. I am paying for this myself. I am nervous about what foods to eat in the first month, worried about my social life, worried about being tired and not functioning at work.... I get banded on Thurs and am back to work on the Sunday (!). I need a mentor to ease my nervousness and help me with the silly questions..... anybody??? Kmommy Pre-op weight: 214lbs Target weight: 140 lbs
