  1. Hi Not sure if this is old news... but I just randomly searched for a lap band app on my iPhone and surprisingly it came up with 3 apps!!!! They all pretty much do the same.... BMI, weight tracking, fill tracking, but the barimate seems so cool. You can add pics straight from your iPhone for progress, you get an image projecting what you might look like for inspiration, etc etc etc! I am STOKED!:tongue2:
  2. I am a big fan of myfitnesspall toooo..........
  3. Hi I am still in the liquid/mushy stage and I do find it hard to get my Protein up atm. But also, I am thinking of what foods to eat when I will be able to eat real food (something that worries me!). SO... what are your fave high protein food????????
  4. I will be choosing Barimate. Not done it yet as I had to reload my itunes account. Will keep u tuned in.

    Diuretics?

Diuretics are typically prescribed medicines... and can be dangerous if taken without Dr's advice, it can lower your blood pressure.

    First fill shock!

Wow. Glad to hear all is better. I don't think my Dr does anything with a scope and barium.... just freezes and injects. IS that normal? Do they always do the scope/barium???
  12. Hi Just thought I'd start a random thread.... to see what has been GOOD and what has been...well... not so good! UPS: - losing almost 12 lbs in 7 days - seeing a difference in my clothes - hearing ppl say they can see a difference - being able to go through this with my friend - full support my husband DOWNS: - the frigging gas pains! - the nausea - the back/shoulder pain - I miss my friend... food! - lack of diversity in what I can have What are your UPS and DOWNS?
  13. Not sure if I am right on this... but it's pretty hard to get 60-80g of Protein in the liquid phase... unless you can have 3-4 protein shakes a day. I think it's doable later on, but difficult in the early days. I have been trying to get my protein up, but very difficult as my Dr says liquids for 4 wks. Why don't you have a glass of Water or juice when you feel really hungry? That seems to help me with my hunger.... But I am with you, it's so hard to have all that yummy food that used to be our best friend around you... we'll get there. We've basically gone "cold turkey" from our addiction... it will take time for our addiction centre to adjust. HTH
  14. Candy rain... don't worry.... made me laugh.... I licked the peanut butter off the knife this morning when making toast for the kids too! No harm done... we'll get there, in our own time.
  15. My Dr does it after 4 weeks, but tbh.... at this moment in time (7 days post op), I am not really looking forward to it! I will just be getting to the normal food stage when I will have to regress back to liquids..... shoot me!
  16. Started a thread today about how GREAT I felt, 4 days post op. Which I did. Then I had this store bought, all fruit, banana/strawberry smoothie (very thin, can drink through a tiny straw) and from then on.... holy cow! Had nausea, and massive trapped gas. Am only assuming this is common in the first days??????? But is strawberry/banana a trigger for anyone else???? Should it be avoided? I can guarantee I ain't touching that anymore!
  17. Thanks everyone. Today was not so great, again with the gas pains. Lord! Went for a walk with the kids, might try the heat pad later. Definitely no straws anymore! I am petrified of them now! LOL:wink2:
  18. Went to the shops and got some ENO.... didn't help much. Now I have shoulder pain too. ISn't that weird that the shoulder pain is coming up 5 days later???

    September Bandsters!

Hi Susan I too was banded on the 23rd and yesterday was def not a good day for me too! I have so much gas pain.... and I can't decide if I should sip more Water, or less, or have the broth, or not...... I don't know! It hurts!
  20. Hi guys Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. I was telling myself last night that there are bound to be bad days. But the gas pain is gonna kill me!!! It's so uncomfortable! There are no gas-x strips where I live, I need to go to the pharmacy later and see what is available (my guess will be NOTHING). So apart from walking, are there any positions or exercises that helps get rid of gas? TIA
  21. WOW!!!! That's quite the achievement!
  22. Hello fellow bandsters! I went in on last Thursday with my friend (Cucumber) and it went really well. Had a few sips of Water on Thursday and some sips of juice. Came home Friday, but mostly just slept on Thusrday and Friday. Yesterday I started REALLY feeling hungry (after going back to work) so last night I had a can of cream of tomato. Not in my diet, but I did it because I felt like I needed it. And guess what? It went down fine, and I felt full and didn't feel dizzy and brain-less like I was earlier in the day. So now I am on the slimfast cans as I can't survive on broth and juice for 2 weeks NO WAY! I feel great, I am about 9-10 lbs down.... a little soreness at the port site. But I feel MUCH better than I thought I was going to. So far, I feel like I have made a good decision. Mind you, I look at the food my family is eating and boy, does it look good! But of course, that's the whole point of the band, it "controls" me:smile2:. Now, I just gotta take it day by day, and now thinking of the next "food".... mushies I guess? What will I eat? Hope all the Sept bandsters are doing good!
  23. Started on day 3 for me.... weird how we are all different.
  24. Hi I have a 14 month old as well, but I am being extra careful not to pick him up, which is REALLY hard. Last night dh had a evening course so my neighbour came to help me to put him to bed. My port incision really still hurts too (4 days post op). You went thru all this, be careful with your little one, don't lift him/her. It's hard I know, but see if you can get help for a week or 2.
  25. Silly question but how do you know tomatoes don't work for you???? They come back up??? I can't wait to have salad!!!
