ldydrgnkpr got a reaction from Lainybee1987 in Have Any Of You Eaten Solid Food Before You Were Supposed To?
Good advice Lissa, I have a friend that recently had her VSG. She is obsessing over eating solids. I try to keep her focused and distracted and she soon forgets. It helps that we work together and have lunch together. lunch for me is a RTD Protein shake. (Yes even at a year plus out I still have one a day) She brings cottage cheese or a shake as well. (As I rarely do lunch. I do Breakfast and dinner.) As long as I re direct the conversation about food to what new and exciting happenings in our lives she is good. I too was too scared to eat solids as fearful of a leak and how certain foods can get stuck in the staple line. Was not going to let that happen. I followed the post op diet to a "T". Everyone will do just fine... Wish all of you great success with your sleeves!!!!!

    Glad everyone is doing great!
My big day, Auburndale is located 30 minutes from Tampa and 30 minutes from Orlando. I am doing great. Losing, losing and losing. Feel great! I am hoping to make goal before I see my surgeon in October. (Fingers crossed) I exercise everyday. The weekends are the clean the house, detail the car. Bathe the boxers. I haven't bought any new clothes yet. I am still wearing the same clothes to work that I wore before my sleeve. They are BIG and BAGGY but I will continue to wear them. When I reach my first mini goal (first 50 pounds gone) I will go shopping.
I do manage to get the required Protein and fluids. I do find that certain foods now gross me out. I can not stand the smell of chicken frying, sausage and bacon cooking. sugar free pudding taste like pure salt to me. I was told that some VSG patients experience this and foods that I didn't like before I would find yummy now.
Tiff congrats on sprout. I have read your posts and I find you are my kind of woman. Straight forward no bs. Which is me. I don't beat around the bush either. Glad you are here for us.

I try to eat 3 ounces a day. 240 calories and 27 grams of Protein. Most days I can only do 2 ounces. An ounce is roughly 23 pieces. Each ounce has 80 calories and 9 grams of Protein. Great snack to munch on through out the day.

I'm not advocating nor am I doctor. I do eat a meat free diet. Some goat cheese. I am trying a new life style of eating. Which does consist of raw veges and fresh fruit. Plenty of Water. Absolutly no processed foods in my house. Which I believe caused me to stall constantly and have a sluggish feeling. I was exercising like a mad woman to no avail with the scale moving. I decided since nothing was working for me I needed to try another approach. I researched the hell out of the benefits of vegan and or vegetarian lifestyles. I decided I could try and possibly acheive a better, healthier me. And I did. I have been meat free for two months. And I am so glad I did this. I did this for me. Not my friends or family. For me. What works for one may not work for others. Everyone will find what does and will do excellent with it. I wish everyone nothing but the best!

Helloooooooooo everyone! Yes it has been awhile since I was last here. I recently had my 18 month check up. When I told the nut what my daily diet consisted of her jaw hit the floor. All over me eating fruit. I was shocked. I do believe my weight may flucuate 2-5 pounds a month due to tom. I haven't gained any weight since being sleeved. My current weight is......139 pounds even. So I questioned her on why she would rather me NOT eat fresh fruit? Her reply was that my body will store the natural sugars as fat. Well, let me shed some light on this. When I did not incorperate fresh fruits and veges into my diet I was a slug. Meaning that I had no damn energy. Eating processed foods was the culprit for that. Also, not having any "natural" sugar my glucose would bottom out to where I would be seconds from hitting the floor. Since I have cut out all processed foods and eat MORE fresh FRUIT and VEGES I do not have any issues. I can't wait till my 24 month check up. BTW, I lost 4 inches in my waist. Current waist size is 26 1/2 inches! Current dress sze is a 6. So I will continue to eat all the fresh fruits and veges that my little tummy will hold. To everyone just getting out of the proverbal gate, I wish all of you the very best and much success on your journey!!!!!!! (Trial and error is how I found out what made me feel better and have much more energy and I sleep better.)

I started my journey just over 4 months ago I started at 280 pounds and was wearing size 46+ pants since I refused to buy any larger pants than the 46 inch waist
As of about a week ago I and down to 175 pounds my size 30 inch waist pants are getting loose on me I feel so much better now than I did just a few months ago
I no longer need blood pressure meds and my feet ankles and knees don't hurt anymore. I feel a lot better since I lost the weight.
When I started my journey I said this was not a diet it was a lifestyle change I never deprived myself of anything if I wanted to have something I had a small amount. Sometimes it may only be a teaspoon of whatever it was that I really did not need. I would eat my Proteins first then fruit and veggies followed by the high carb foods. I drank my Water but for me I have always drank plenty of water.

Good Friday morning all!! I started with exactly 100 pounds to lose 5,1". As of today I am down 94 pounds. ( I haven't updated my ticker in awhile) I am 16 months post op. I was what they considered a "light weight". However, weighing 139 pounds today seems so sur-real to me. I have co-workers that have had the sleeve and they were two to three times heavier than me. And are 3,4 and 5 months post op and have lost an amazing amount of weight. I agree that following the post op diet and exercising is key in losing the weight. For me when I reached my 8 month is slowed way down. For several months now I have been struggling to lose my last few pounds. It isn't easy by no means. Dedication and a lot of right food choices and exercise is paramount. I wish everyone much success in their journey!!! Have a stellar weekend all!!!
