Food intake after surgery
Wow Dudeman thats a lot of weight!!!!! I'm scheduled to be sleeved 3/7. My Doc's post op diet is Clear Liquids for two days. Full liquids from day 3- week 4. Mushies from week 4-6 then re-introduce solid foods. So each doctor is different. Congrats on the weight loss. I hope I will be just as successful as everyone here. Deb

Bougie Size
I will be sleeved on March 7th. I asked what bougie size would be used. I was told 44 fr. and that he would over sew the staple line. Just how big will my sleeve be? Just how much of a role does bougie size play in the amount of weight that will be lost? From reading the posts on the forum I'm seeing 32 and 34 are the norm. How will my sleeve be different from a sleeve that had a 34 bougie used? Thanks for any information on this, Deb

Pre-op done
Hello everyone! Pre-Op done this morning. I thought I would be all day. But Didn't take long at all. Finished about 1:00. The longest part was the drive. Surgery on Monday. I'm so excited. Found out my surgeon will be using a 44 fr bougie. Anyone know exactly how BIG or SMALL that is. I have tried looking for that information. And the percentage of weight loss with each bougie size. I have yet to find it. I did question that with him, he did say that I would feel the restriction without a doubt. I even asked if he did over sew and he said yes. Don't know if that will have an impact on the restriction that is felt or not. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!!!! Deb

Problem with approval??
Have you called and spoke with the bariatric coordinator? Were you assigned a case manager? It wouldn't hurt to call and ask. I have UHC as well and I called and asked a lot of questions. Just a suggestion. Deb

Anyone else do this??????
Okay I had to run to the store and pick up some splenda and cheese. (what a combination right) Anyway I found myself walking isle to isle looking at all of things (food) that I have left behind. The pre op diet has made a crazy woman out of me. LOL. I know that I have abandoned them for a GOOD reason. But I do have a passion for chocolate. A BIG passion. But on the other hand I do enjoy tuna, cottage cheese and all that is healthy. But the chocolate covered peanuts (Brachs) was my BFF (LOL) I know this will pass. As I thought that I would go crazy when I gave up all of my favorite soda's. That was over seven months ago. I don't want one and I also think of how much more weight I avoided by not drinking them every day. I know that all of this is for my own good. I want to be healthy. I want to have a life with my family. So I know that I can do this. I was just curious if any one else did this??? (Sounds silly I know) Deb

So is this what its going to be like after surgery?
I went through the same thing when I quit smoking. I do chew sugarless gum. I bury myself in my job. (granted it is a desk job) But none the less I push through. I don't have the nagging need to go on a break and smoke anymore. The eating part well I find that if I stay busy I just find that all I want is something to drink. So I grab a glass or bottle of Water with my crystal light. I am really trying to push the food demon away from me. As I found that before I started this process, I would eat just because it was there. Mindless eating was my life. There will always be temptation. Its just avoiding it that is the hardest part. My husband is trying to not bring anything in the house that would ruin my pre op diet. He has changed his eating habits as well. So I completley understand the "I'm forgetting something" feeling. I'm sure we will all make it through this. Deb

Did anyone here sheat on the pre op liquid diet?
I'm on my pre op diet now. Consists of two Protein shakes to replace two meals. One meal high protein low carb. I drink lots of Water through out the day. Close to 70 to 80 ounces. I have wanted to cheat. I haven't. I have kept my eye on the prize. So yeah I have thought about it. Deb
