  1. Thank you for the info. Kinda bummed about the slimming, it sounds gross, hope it doesn't happen a bunch. could be embarrassing. Do you slobber all over the place or is it something you can hide?
  2. Hey guys, I have been reading other threads and am scheduled to have my LAP-BAND® Oct 20 was wondering what exactly is slimming and what causes it? Also what is PB? (I assumed it was vomiting). Thanks for all of your help just wanting to know what is in store.
  3. Thank all of you so much. I so appreciate the input. Jack mentioned making time for new activities. What have you guys made time I am sure it includes exercising. And my family and I would so appreciate any prayers that are offered.
  4. Thank you Jack. It helps so much. I felt like it would be ok, but was very worried about letting my kids down. Not so worried about being tired. Everytime I go to court, I am sleep deprived and that adrelaline kicks in at least while we are there-just have to crash afterwords. Thanks again I feel so much better with my decession. What do you think about going back to work 5 days later-I'm a teacher. Probably the same
  5. Hey Guys, My surgery date is Oct 20. I am in the middle of a nasty custody battle for my neice and nephew. We have raised my baby girl since she was 6m (now 5) and my baby boy since he was 2 ( now 7). Their "parents" are unfit to say the least. bio mom hasn't seen them for years and bio dad gave up his rights. Our next court date for Oct 28--eight days after my surgery. I started to cancel my procedure, but couldn't. I am doing this for my health, so I can take care of my faimly and continue working for them and my students. I believe that I need to do this for my kids. I also feel like if I wait on this to be over it may never be (it's already has been 5 years and I don't see an end in site). Am I nuts for thinking I can do this and attend court eight days later? Please let me know what you think. I realize everyone is different, and this is very subjective. I will say I have had major surgery before and recovered quickly.
  6. Hey guys I am scheduled to have lb on oct 20 and was wondering if anyone knew why you cant chew gum. I assume it is so it doesn't get stuck if you accidently swallow it. Do you chew gum? As you can probably tell I love gum:frown:
  7. Hey guys I haven't had my lb yet, but have tons of joints problems-even had a hip replacement, then revision due to my muscular dystrophy. A friend of mine lots tons of weight and started having problems with her ankle. Her doc said it was a stress fracture due to her weight loss and change of posture. I'm not really sure if this helps, but I wanted to pass it along. Hope you both start feeling better. Joint pain is the worse.
  8. Hey What does NVS mean? I'm sure I will go duh, I knew that after you tell me. lol
  9. Hey Everyone, I'm getting banded Oct the 20th, and am so excited. Sure am dreading the 2 week diet. I have to kids and work full time as a special education teacher. I guess one day at a time:) I am getting the realize band what are you guys getting? I hope to get know all of you. I think this journey will be much easier with support from friends:biggrin: By the way I'm from Oklahoma.
  10. Congrates! It is such a relief to have the surgery date. I'm from Oklahoma and my date is 10/20/. I'm excited and nervous both. Thinking of all kinds of questions I wish I would have asked the Dr. about like how often do we have to go back after surgurey. I look forward to getting know everyone and am glad I don't have to go through journey alone. Here is to better health for all:)
  11. Congrates:) My sugurey date is Oct 20. I am really worried about the two week diet, are you? But also so excited about taking this journey to healthy me. Keep me posted as what to expect. Maybe we can support each other since our surgery dates are so close. Congrats again on taking the first step toward a healthier you:)
  12. After months of calling the Dr office and our insurance I finally have my surgery date. It is October 20. I am so worried about the two week diet. My Dr said I will only be allowed to have four to five no sugar carnation instant breakfast a day. I totaled a car when I was in high school because I wasn't eating right (yeah, crash dieting, lol) Now I drive with my children and work with as a special education teacher. I am so afraid I'm going to pass out or be crazy because of low blood sugar. Is anyone else afraid of this or have suggestions. I made it this far I certainly don't want to give up. I just wish I could have a different type of protein shake. I have experimented with the diet over summer break and I felt shaky and weak. I am not allowed to have anything else. What is your pre-surgery diets like? Any suggestions? Is anyone else getting banded in October? I really hope to make some friends here I don't think I can do this without some support. This is my first post, but I have been reading for a while, and found so much hope here. Many of you have inspired me.Thank you!
