  1. 2 small glasses White Merlot

3 bites of salad with ranch dressing (chewed to a pulp)

8 bites of Manicotti (chewed to a pulp)

4 bites of marinara with about 6-8 spaghetti noodles (chewed....)

4 bites of risotto topped with 2 thin slices steamed squash (chewed....)

    lots of unsweetened tea w/splenda

1/2 of a 2" square double chocolate brownie and 1 cup of coffee....

All of this was eaten and (drank, drunk???) over a 2 hour period.

The evening spent enjoying this at the local "Murder Mystery" dinner theatre with 5 dear friends celebrating one of their birthdays was wonderful.

The food was so very satisfying.

Maybe one of the most enjoyable meals I've ever had.

The fact that I realized that I don't think I had never really "chewed" pasta before was amazing.

Yet still, I beat myself up over the fact that, even though everything I ate could have been eaten by someone who had no teeth, I'm not (according to my nurse) supposed to eat solid food for another 5 days.

I would love to see some of your thoughts on this.

  2. ...I am one sick, sick, sick, did I say sick puppy. When I tell y'all what I did, you'll all agree. Well, I haven't been on here since Thursday night and if anybody remembers...I said...I was craving meat so bad I could eat a cow...lol

Well, me and my saddle pals down here have a favorite snack that we carry in our saddle bags on trail rides. It's Vienna sausage and saltine crackers. Well, Me..(sick me) decided hum, Vienna's are meat...well sorta? I'll just get me my Thunder Stick (that's a kitchen device :biggrin1: ) and I'll just PUREE (sp) me some Vienna's! Well, I think that was probably the most disgusting thing I have ever seen or put in my mouth (well almost) ...but...a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do...right? A little bit of that concoction spread on 2 crackers, mushed and chewed in my (sick) mouth and washed down with lots of water between each bite, well, let's just say this, I'm really not craving meat any more. HOpe y'all get a kick out of this.

  3. I'm so very optimistic about the new year. Although I do feel somewhat selfish. Everything lately has seemed to be me me me. That will change though as I'm able to do more.

On being able to "do more". I'm dissappointed that I'm still having pain in the one area just below my left breast. If I move or stretch the wrong way, it seems like someone has stabbed me with a hot knife. If it were not for that area, I would be close to 100% I feel certain. Now, I've found a "hard" area under the largest incision. Could that be my port that high and centered? Do I just have too much time on my hands laying around trying to not overdo it? Or maybe just being paranoid?

Tomorrow the weight loss center offices open back up and I'll be calling them first thing. I've got to get going so I can get back to work.

  4. Well, it's been an exciting week! Kids all HOME for Christmas (youngest has a new BF...sweetie) I had prepared some things ahead and frozen and the extended family came over for breakfast Christmas morning. By the time everyone left around noon, I was pretty tired and "hit the couch". Today is one week and a day out from surgery, and I'm feeling great. With the exception of one incision area, having no other pain. Still getting a lot of lower stomach gass pain/pressure that the gas-x doesn't seem to help. Called the surgeons office and he said the pain in the area that I'm having it is "normal". Something about that being the area where he had to spend the most time.

    Food today,

    A.M.

1/2 c. cream of wheat w/splenda and 3 Tbsp. spiced apple sauce

    1 c. V-8 juice

    20 oz water

    P.M.

    1/2 c. oj

    1 c. cheesie potatoe soup

    20 oz water

    EAS Advant-edge French Vanilla

    1 cup lf. peach yougurt

  5. Didn't get to leave the hospital till after 8 pm due to the fact that I couln't pee. Well, after 3 iv's and 5 or more cups of water/chipped ice and a grape juice I was finally able to go...didn't completely empty though. Well that happened during the night. Was up 6 times during the night to go. My precious baby girl (19 almost 20) took care of me and slept on the other couch across from me. Every time I got up, she was up checking on me and helping me up. Even with the phenergan sup. lol. Some gas pain this a.m. but taking chewable gasX. Trying to stay up as much as possible to get it to pass if that's truly what it is

  6. 4th day of my POD (pre-op diet). Last night was rough. Had my pre-testing yesterday and had annual checkup with pcp. Recovering from resp. infection and she told me if I'm not significantly better by Monday, I need to call my surgeon and reschedule :cry . Tuff. Don't know if I was stressing or hungry but, I ate a big spoon of peanut butter and 2 slices of cheese, Not on the approved list of things I can eat right now from my surgeon of course. Today will be better. Getting my water allotment for the day set out and planning exactly what I'm gonna eat to hopefully stick with. The barium from the upper GI passed well. No constipation from it :speechles . Enough for now.

Just sent a link to my daughters and 3 closest friends that will send them to the LBT site for info, as I've not really communicated a whole lot of info.
