  1. My mom was banded by Dr. Felix Spiegel last September. Although she doesn't really see him much for her fills because she goes to the surgery center and the nurse does them. I just hear the after care is not good at all and not only him, but his office staff are rude. Hope this helps.
  2. I don't think it would really matter, but check with your doctor before.
  3. Oh wow! I thought I was obsessed with the scale. Hey, whatever works right?
  4. I noticed that you've lost 12 lbs already. That's great. I can't count how many times I tried dieting and would lose nothing. To me, the yo yo dieting is pointless and I chose Lapband because I will never see myself gaining back the 60 lbs that I've lost. I wish you the best of luck with everything and thanks for being understanding.
  5. Tulips, I don't understand why you would have weight loss surgery to lose 40 lbs. If upsets me so much that these doctors do surgery for just about anyone as long as they get paid. I was 300 lbs and my goal is 150 lbs. For someone wanting to lose 100 pounds+ it is understandable. I just don't think it's worth all the trouble for 40 pounds. I'm not trying to sound rude by any means so please don't take it that way.
  6. Welcome to LapbandTalk. I hope you get any answers you are looking for. Good luck on your journey
  7. I'm in Pearland and currently meet with a support group meeting every Thursday at Beltway 8 and Fairmont Parkaway inside Target at the Starbucks at 6:00. They're usually until around 8:00.
  8. You're not crazy! Trust me it's all worth it in the end  You'll do great! Keep your head held high and you will succeed.
  9. That is weird coming from a Lapband doctor. Go to google and search Lapband and pregnancy and it'll show you plenty of people who have had success with pregnancy and the after effect on your band.
  10. Depending on where you live, I'm part of a support group on the Southeast side. We meet at the Starbucks inside Target at Fairmont and Beltway 8.
  11. I was wondering if any of you have read "He's just not that into you"? Anyone who has, please give me your insite. I believe that everything said in the book is right and my whole view on dating has changed drastically. Let me know guys

  14. I didn't by any means to offend you in any way. I guess what I meant is that I don't feel sorry for people who don't try even when they have this tool. I don't know what it's like to go through a depression because I've never had to experience it. I'm sure it is really hard to go through one while on this wonderful journey. I do wish you the best. And as far as the jealousy part, everyone, I think has experienced it atleast once in their life and it is a sad world we live in. But you just have to take one day at a time and enjoy your life. Best of luck to you.
  15. Can I ask you why you have gained this weight back?
  16. Take it however you want. I wasn't trying to be mean to anybody. Some people need to grow up.
  17. I'm not speaking of the complications side of the band. I don't feel sorry for people who eat around the band. I'm sorry if you misunderstood me. I've read lots of stories where people who have had slippage or erosion, etc. And that's something that scares me every day because I am self pay.
  18. You know, I can't stand when people say it's the easy way out. How would they know it's easy. Getting stuck with a needle every 6 weeks, throwing up food if you eat too fast or don't take small enough bites, liquid diets pre op? How is any of that "Easy" She has no idea. I think it's funny how friends and family don't want to say, ya I notice you lost weight, but they'll say oh "so and so saw you and said you look liked you lost weight" You can't tell me that yourself and admit that ya I am losing weight? Or my cousin, he was talking to me and while he told me that he could tell I lost weight, he didn't even look at me.....I think it is a very sad world we live in sometimes because aren't your family and friends supposed to be there for you? So many people go on "diets" and ya they lose weight but do you notice how many people end up gaining it back plus more? Atleast with the band, you won't gain it back and if you do, then you don't deserve the band in the first place. Sorry for ranting and raving, I just had to get that off my chest. Thank you to everyone who responded. More would be greatly appreciated.
  19. I was reading Lap Band for Life written by Dr. Ariel Ortiz and read in there about this lady who lost friends after her lap band surgery. I find that very strange. Has anyone experienced any negativity or jealousy from family members or friends post lap band? Let me know. Thank you.
  20. I'm 22 and I'm so happy I did it. I actually had the procedure done when I was 21.

  22. I was wondering if anyone has a book that they have already read called "Living with Lap Band" written by Dr. Ortiz? I would like to buy it from anyone who is honest and willing to sell it to me. Thank you.
