Old people seem to be the worst with comments, and having been a nurse i came across a lot - "my you are a fat one" - "arent you a big healthy girl" - "you're fit for some one your size" - "dont sit in that chair, it is not very strong", "you shouldnt be playing sport at your size".
All this contributed to me getting as big as i did because when i look back on photos i really wasnt that fat, but I thought i was, so I used to think what the heck whats another piece of chocolate going to change. But you know what I have survived , not unscathed, but I have survived non the less and I am taking back control of my weight and my life, and so to all those people who have ever been rude to me, you can kis my @#*.

Still plodding along. I am a little over tight with10ml in my band but am loosing again slowly. Suffering a bit of reflux.
AmberK - would love to know how you are going with your sleeve.
Hope everyone else are still doing well. We have made it past 2 years. We should all be proud, no matter how successful our weight loss has or has not been, as long as we are feeling better about ourselves.
    Cheers

I am 2 years post op and have lost 60% of my excess body weight but still have a way to go. Two of my goals were to be able to put down the tray when flying and ride a bike. Well i have managed these two things and it feels so good! Last week however, was extraordinary, i went shopping with my 18 year old daughter and she zeroed in on a pair of floral jeans - whoops, "sorry" i said," i have a pair of those on lay-by". She gave me a dirty look and moved on while i did a little happy dance. Mind you she is still a few sizes smaller than me but i can shop where she shops now. Hooray!

OMG take the stick out of ur a**. Out of all the posts u have written not one was positive! I'm sorry the band didn't work for u but u ever think maybe u should have made better food choices and maybe just ran little? It is just a tool not a magic wand. I get that everyone has the right to their own opinion but for god sakes relax alittle. WE GET It.... U DON'T RECOMMEND tHE BAND!

JanB23 got a reaction from B-52 in Drinking & Meals
I was always able to drink when i ate until my last fill. Now if i even take a sip after eating it makes me throw up. I don't miss it any more because drinking with my meal is now an unpleasant experience.

I hit a huge milestone today. I have lost as of today, 50 pounds which is also 50% of my excess weight. I am halfway there. I've been banded for 6 months now. And although it was hard at the beginning, these first 6 months have been more than a diet. It has been a total reprogramming of the mind and body. I feel so great now. I want to hit my goal by m birthday december 9th.

Throw out those clothes. DO IT. It is very liberating!
It also prevents you accidentally throwing on the wrong thing when in a hurry and having to spend the entire day hanging on to your pants! LOL.

Hi, i havent been here for a while. Its nice to get back and see what people are giving hints about. I am nearly 2 years post op. Broccoli and pineapple are two of the not recommended foods for me, but sound good.
I could not cope without baked Beans -( couldn't find these on a recent trip to Hawaii) and i love hard boiled eggs mashed up with cottage cheese and spring onions on thin brown rice crackers.

I was getting ready to go out last night and my husband wasn't coming as he had to work. I was almost ready to go when he says "your not looking too bad at the moment, don't go picking up any strays". Then as he walked off he says " I need to start feeding you more". Thanks, I think!!

JanB23 reacted to JanB23 in Pain in left side
I had a pain like a stitch in my left side for about 4 weeks post op, it was worse if i walked straight after eating or if i got constipated. I think it was just the band settling in and the stitches they used to anchor it healing. I still get the pain occasionally if i lie the wrong way or eat too much. If in doubt, talk to your clinic. Good luck.

Merry Christmas to everyone but I only could wish to have just 3 bites of anything and leave it at that. I am a food addict and there is no such thing for me. I have been good for the last two years and I do occasionally cheat with a piece of pie but being Christmas and to goal for my 2 year bandiversary, I ate a whole sugar cookie snowman ALL BY MYSELF! I will however, work out in my yeard tomorrow since it will be around 70 degrees, so I will enjoy today and pay tomorrow. Have a wonderful New Year too, everyone who is banded and worried about the holiday eating rituals, just remember there is always tomorrow to make amends.

Merry Christmas. I am a firm believer that you can have any holiday meal without falling off the track. Just follow the rules: Protein first, no drinking with meals or close before or after, etc. I also have a rule if I want a treat I let myself have 3 small bites and then i am done. Have.a great day.

JanB23 reacted to JanB23 in How long did it take you to fully recover from surgery?
I am going to be honest here. After a week i could function quite well but got tired and sore quickly. After 2 weeks i was back at work but was still having a little discomfort and got tired easily. My port wound took 4 weeks to heal up completely. It was 6 weeks before i could say i was no longer having twinges and strange little, and not so little pains. But appreciate those little pains, they reminded me that i was banded and kept me on track with my eating even though i had no restriction as i was afraid i would damage something if i ate more than was recommended. Good luck with your journey.

JanB23 reacted to JanB23 in are you supposed to be protected with flouro
What is a flouro? Is it like an xray?
I have to have a fill under xray in 2 weeks as doc couldn't access my port. Have to go to Day surgery clinic to get it done. I am so looking forward to getting a fill as i am 10 weeks post op with zero in my band and if it wasn't for the scars i would swear i had only dreamt i had WLS. I am struggling with maintaining my weight loss. Up half a kilo down half a kilo - i am going insane!
