Vitamins
I actually just crush up a Men's One a Day in a mortar & pestle and add it to my protein shake in the morning. Seems to taste okay

Protein shakes- UGH!!!
Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard, Caramel Toffee This is the best protein I've ever had. I've gone through 3 2lb tubs already (had to restart 2 week pre op diet 12 days in). Get it on Amazon at GNC if you need it immediately. All of their stuff tastes pretty good.

December 15th is Banding day!!!
Kinda sounds like my hospital stay. They wanted me to stay overnight, but my Dr said I could get discharged, but nobody seemed to have any idea what was going on, so every so often they'd do something that made me think they'd release me, but never follow through. Nurse said I was free to go, but I had no papers and an IV still stuck in me! My wife and I were pretty upset, we just wanted to leave and I jsut wanted to rest in my own bed. Finally, in a stern voice I made my displeasure very well known. They went and found my things and got me moving along the way... As far as gas-x goes, I don't know if it works or not. Most of the gas is outside of the GI tract meaning GAS-X won't really help in that way. Maybe it's a placebo effect ?

nausea post op
They gave me a prescription for nausea, I'm guessing they didn't give you one? Or they might have, look for it in the packet of papers they gave you. It helped me cope.

In and Out of Bed
Cool, I was thinking of trying to slither out somehow, lol, definitely not very graceful. i'm just worried a bout the incisions opening up by straining too hard.

In and Out of Bed
Anyone have any tips for getting in and out of bed? I've set up a bunch of pillows to mimic a hospital bed for back support, but when I try to get back up out of bed, I strain my abs and it friggin hurts ! My incisions are still pretty fresh, only been banded about 24 hours. I'm assuming it gets better ?

Anyone being banded tomorrow?
Got banded yesterday. A little discomfort right now, but nothing too terrible. I just need to walk a bit more. Good luck to you all...

Overnight in Hospital?
The hospital has me listed as staying overnight for my 2pm surgery time. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I'd like to believe I'll bounce right back after surgery, being somewhat young and all, I'd rather go home. I guess we'll see in a few hours...

Anyone being banded tomorrow?
I get banded today @ 2:15, excited and a wee bit nervous at the same time.

December Bandsters (Early Xmas present)
Today is the day for me. Surgery is slated for 2:15 PM. They originally have me schedule to stay the night, but said I could leave if I felt up to it and the dr/nurses agreed. We'll have to see, I'd rather go home. I'm a bit nervous as I've never gone under the knife before, so I'm not quite sure what to expect. But reading these threads definitely help to ease my mind a bit. Can't wait to actually start eating something other than a protein shake, though, that's for sure. 6 weeks can't come fast enough so I can start working out again... See ya'll on the otherside

December Bandsters (Early Xmas present)
For those looking for good tasting protein, try Gold Standard Whey Isolate from GNC or Amazon. They've got some really good flavors. 120 calories per scoop and 25g of protein. Good stuff, though I find myself wanting some savory items instead of sweet all the time. I get banded on the 13th at 7:45 AM. Can't wait to return to mush in a few weeks...

No use counting down the days until pre-op liquid diet, cuz once you're banded its another 4 weeks of Protein shakes. So exciting, right ?

December Bandsters (Early Xmas present)
I'm using Gold Standard Pure 100% whey I got from Amazon. It's cheap and the flavors are really good. 130 calories w/ 24 g of Protein. With skim miilk they taste great.

Major Bummer ! Surgery post-poned
Asked the ENT Doc if they still removed tonsils, she said only in extreme cases. Seems as though they're moving away from that practice. It's a lot more serious in adults than children, and I'd rather have them kept intact if at all possible. The biggest disappointment is going to have the start the liquid diet all over again, but I've lost a couple pounds on it already, so it isn't that big of a deal. See you guys in the December forum

Major Bummer ! Surgery post-poned
Thanks, that's about the only silver lining I've got, since my surgery prob. won't be until mid December. I guess it's best to be safe. Their concern was the antibiotics reacting with the anaesthesia. Wouldn't want anything to go wrong.

Major Bummer ! Surgery post-poned
So I had my surgery set up for the 2nd of November. Last week felt a scratchiness in my throat. So I went to my PCP. He gave me some antibiotics. Didn't help. Yesterday I went to an ENT and they told me I was sub-acute chronic tonsilitis. Ughh. Called the surgeon's office, he doesn't want to operate on me for 4-5 weeks. So bummed, was definitely looking forward to getting banded before Thanksgiving. Sorry, just needed to vent

How did your surgery get scheduled if you weren't really approved ? My approval was about 36 hours, and my surgery is scheduled for Nov. 2nd.

federal employee program BCBS
Took me 24 hours to get my approval. Now all I have to do is schedule my surgery and start the pre-op diet and I'm good to go... BCBS rocks

Had my consultation today. The nurses said w/ my insurance and all my documentation I should be approved within an hour once they submit. Hopefully I'll find out soon.

Protein powder that tastes good with water?
Not to revive an old thread, but I'm starting my pre-op diet with nothing but Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Protein shakes and they're great with Water and skim milk. 120 calories w/ water, or 200 calories w/ skim milk. 24g of protein w/ water, or 32g grams of protein w/ skim milk (depending on who you believe for protein grams in 8 oz of skim). 1 gram of carbs per serving. I have tasted the vanilla ice cream and rocky road and they're both pretty good. Get it frmo Amazon it's fairly inexpensive at 50-60 cents per ounce.
