  1. Brian, you sound so down, it makes me worried about you. This might be a little presumptuous, but have you considered a 12 step program? AA, NA, and OA all give wonderful support.
  2. My doctor's staff is the bomb- it's the doc that I don't much like. He doesn't have much compassion and is just ther efor the money, but that is ok. If you can find someone else to do your post op checkups, that would be less stressful for you. I feel your stress and am sorry. My insurance covers most of it, but I am still probably going to pay about 1500 out of pocket. The dr needs 500 for program expenses, including support meetings. Hope everything gets better!!!
  3. I can lose weight fast short term- it is long term that is the problem. He said the reason was to shrink my liver, which apparently sits on top of the stomach, to make surgery less risky. Also, it shrinks your neck size, where most people lose weight first, which makes the anesthesia work better. I can do this, it just is for a few days!! I went to BR31 with my mom and kids and ordered WATER!! The smell was so hard to resist, but I did it!! Then we had dinner at family's last night with homemade banana cream pudding, and I left the table and chewed on gum. I am so going to do this!!
  4. Thanks, but Unjury is whey, and I can't have that. I am so jonesing right now- sugar is obviously addictive since I am having cravings. I am even shaking.
  5. I need to find a good soy shake- lactose intolerant. I love the whey shakes and have used them, but they are what brought my milk issues to light. Unjury seems to be a fav, but they only have whey, and I can't use that. I am seriously stressing out.
  6. Heavy cream and tartar sauce? My dr would have me strung up by my band.
  7. Ok, this is not a total negative post. I have a date- 8/24. I have to lose 12 pounds before then or it gets postponed. Dr didn't give me any specific pre op diet- I am on my own. I am having a hard time, and this is only day 2. Does anyone have suggestions of how to do this seemingly monumental task? I am excited about this, but freaked out too. I don't know how to explain. I went to baskin robbins, not my idea, after my kids' karate class. My mom bought them ice cream, and I had a cup of ice water. the smell almost brought me to tears I wanted it so badly. I know this will be ok in the end, but getting through the next few weeks is as far as I am thinking right now.
  8. I have my EDG (I think, the scope thing) going on Tuesday. This is the last step, maybe, before getting a date. I know it sucks that I let myself get this bad, and surgery is drastic, but maybe drastic is what I need to get my head wrapped around the fact that my life is out of control. I have been doing OA online meetings, but they bug me. I have been told that is because I am not ready, and that I need to hit bottom first. Why? Can't I get support without having the "hello, I'm so and so, and I am a compulsive overeater." And then 50 different people saying "hi so and so" The one person at a time annoys me. I want a give and take conversation. Or am I really not ready? I think I am, and I want to be. Is there something else, other than this forum, that can help me? I am rambling, but that is what I do lately.
  9. Not to mention that everyone has a 'horror story' about a friend of a friend that had problems. I am with you. I don't know how I got this bad- well, I do, but you know. I need something to help me realize how drastic this is. This is a tool that can really help us. Unless people have walked in our shoes, they don't understand.
