As of the 24th of November, I was official denied surgery. However, I have since spoken to the authorization department to get more information. My denial letter also came in the mail today. I need to submit my journal and proof that the doctor supervised me during the program I did. So, I will be faxing that tomorrow... and hoping that they will approve it before my original date.. so I can keep it on December 20th! I hope it's as easy as it sounds. The lady I talked to mentioned I had a lot of paperwork but was just missing those two things and that's why I was denied. I'm feeling VERY hopeful and VERY VERY optimistic!

I talked to insurance today! They told me the two things I need to get my decision changed Whoohooo!

Ok, so as of the 24th I was denied by my insurance company. They said I didn't have six months of weigh management. WHICH I DID! So I'm waiting response from the coordinator at my program to find out what exactly they sent over. I talked to my mom. My surgery was scheduled for December 20th. Putting me at a start date for the PRE op diet on December 6th. Even though I was denied, my mom told me not to give up. She had the same issue, was denied at first.... and then approved within weeks. Example: She sent everything in Feb 1st. was denied.... fixed everything.. was approved. and had surgery on the 17th of Feb. We work for the same company so we have the same insurance. And, even most of the same documentation (we both did the same weight management classes) I'm a little lost right now. We're working on appealing or whatever the insurance company. Should I still start the pre op just in case? I am just so clueless. I don't want to start it and get my hopes up. But, at the same time I don't want to NOT start it and get approved and that get in the way. Thanks for any help.

Yeah, once I get all the info.. I will. Right now I am just so mad. They made it seem like my paperwork just said I took some pills to lose some weight.. and it wasn't even like that.

I have a closet full of different sizes. My mom has the band... and she's given me the stuff she cant use anymore. I also hope to do a clothing drive with others @ my hospital

If I get approval from insurance, I'll be starting my PRE OP diet the day of your surgery. I'm nervous about that! LOL Good luck!

I just got off the phone with Cigna. All they could tell me is that the first person ( I forget what the title was ) who looked at my paperwork couldn't approve it on her level. So it had to be submitted to someone else higher up. This happened on the 22nd, so I should have a decision within 48 hours. Meaning either TODAY or Monday since the Holiday. I'm sooo nervous. I really want my December surgery. I hope it can happen.

Thanks for sharing. I have a print out of all the different types of powders.. along with their ratings. I was told to go for something as close to 1.0 as I can since it's the highest. If I think about it, I'll scan it to show ya'll
