Hey guys!!! I am back home and doing really good. I did vomit right after surgery because of sensitivity to anesthesia. They checked me under fluero and thank God all was great. I just feel sore and bloated. I have a lot of pressure in my abdomen I assume is gas. I did check on the computers, but couldn't remember my password!:faint: I am surprised how well I feel. I don't feel hungry. I am having broth, sugar free ice pops, jello, water, kellogg protein water. I can have yogurt on day 4. Thanks for being there for me!!! How are you all doing??? Audree

I am back from surgery!!! Everything went fine, except for a little vommiting after surgery due to anesthesia. They checked me under fluero and everything was fine. It was vomit with lots of gas. I feel really good. I just have a lot of pressure in my abdomen, I am guessing it is gas. Yesterday I was stilll nauseous, but I am not today. Today I am just feeling a little sore and tired. At least Dr. Ortiz allows yogurt on day 4, protein drinks of day 7 and creamy soups on day 11, mushies on day 21. I don't feel hungry, but I have had broth and kelloggs protein water, water, sugar free ice pops. How are you all doing? How are all the newly banded people doing? Audree

I am waiting for my mom to pick me up in a few minutes and wanted to check in with yall!!! I am nervous and giving myself a headache! I took some tylenol. I don't know why I am getting so nervous. Hello everybody. I am nervous as heck!!!!:faint: I am waiting for my mom to pick me up. I am all packed, bought convenience foods for my family so I don't have to cook when I get home, house is clean, bought gauze and paper tape. I will bring back info on the AP band. Dr. Ortiz is supposed to start using them toward the later part of the year. I will ask him lots of questions!!! I can't believe I am giong!!!! I thought this was interesting advice: "I have ice in my drinks all day long. The only time that I don't is right before I eat. It tends to close you up. It is actually a good trick that I use during the day to make me think I'm "full". Audree

I got this off bandsters: "Thought I would share that I saw one of those girdle type things today. The purpose for wearing them is to compress the tissue to speed up healing of the incisions and also to help the pain when coughing. The educator told me that coughing can sometimes hurt after band placement and the "girdle" thingy absorbs some of the pressure. It's white and flexible. It just wraps around one's waist and has a big piece of velcro to attach it tightly. Apparently, the doctors that prescribe this for a week or so use it for the above reasons. Just thought I'd add this since folks were talking about them a few days back. " I think I am going to ask for one! FYII: This sucks! I just got the email from Dr. Ortiz's patient care coordinator and she said Dr. Ortiz will start offering the new AP band in the fall! I hope it is not that much better than the one I am getting!!! I am getting banded in Mexico by Dr. Ariel Ortiz. He is a world renowned surgeon. He has actually trained many of the doctors who do it in the states. You have to fill out a lot of paperwork and fax it. From there if you have a higher bmi or co morbities you have to go one day prior to the surgery date. They give you a full pre op examinations, everything they do here. They can refure to do the surgery and refund your money. They will not band you if there is any risk. They have been doing it in Mexico a lot longer than the states. They have rules and regulations they follow just like here. Audree

Thank you everybody for thinking and praying for me! I am retiring early tonight. I am feeling better, but still feel run down. I know only rest takes care of being sick and lots of fluids. I also have not slept well the last few nights with horrible sore throat pain. I may check in tomorrow, but I have a lot to do before I leave, so I may not get a chance to. I AM NERVOUS!!!! I can't even believe it! I will let you know how they are. I bought a big one of the strawberry Kiwi and samples of all the others. I bought them on Bodybuilding.com and looked under Nectar. I have heard it tastes really fruity, like juice. I can't wait. I enjoy my vanilla Protein, but I really like fruity tastes and I bet they can be frozen and be like an ice cream! You add Water and ice. You don't have to use milk or soy milk. I had some Wolfgang Pucks Gourmet chicken broth today for breakfast since I have a sore throat (not banded yet) and I kid you not, about 1/2 hour after,my hands started to swell up and my rings are tight!!!!!!!!!!! Man, I know it is higher in sodium, like 720 gm for a cup, but I didn't expect that!!! It was very, very, very tasty, but if you don' want to retain Water, I'd stay away from it unless you really need something different. I am also going to try a South Beach Diet frozen meal, instead of Lean Cuisine. Someone gave me this advice. I am super sensitive to carbs and my appetite is off the charts. It looks really good. It is the Pasta made with whole grain wheat with roasted bell peppers and brocolli. Only 30 calories, 23 grams of Protein, 8 grams Fiber and 13 grams of fat. I little higher in fat than Lean Cuisine, but more protein and fiber. I told the patient care coordinator about my cold and she said it would be fine. She also said Dr. Ortiz only uses the regular bands, not the new Advanced Profile band. He does use the low profile/mini port and no extra cost. How are we all doing? Audree

I got it off some link I got off on of the threads. I think it was like $29 bucks. I ordered the strawberry kiwi, I am hoping it is good. They say you can eat it right out of the can? Also, a friend of mine said not to tell them when you are crossing the boarder, that you were here to see a doctor. She said they may check you for meds. What did you do? I am hoping that I am better on my surgery date. Damn, why did I have to get sick? I am having tea, Water, Air Bornne and chicken broth. I feel a little better today. This will be my third day sick. Good Morning my January Band sisters! I just wanted to check in! I am sick. I am just resting today. I feel slightly congested, a little cough and sore throat. At least that sharp sore throat pain is gone. Now, just a sore throat. I am also very hoarse, so I am not talking much to let my throat rest. I do not want to be sick for surgery. I have been taking Air Bornne, tea for sore throat, and had Wolfgang Puck's Gourmet chicken broth for breakfast. It was SOOOOOOO good! It is higher in sodium though. I am also going to make sure I get enough water. I leave tomorrow, probably mid day to Mexico. My surgery and pre ops are on Friday. My hotel is covered so I can come back on Sunday, but my mom wants to come home on Saturday. I told her that I will come back if I feel very good, but if I don't, I want to stay an extra day near the doctor. I wonder what happens if you have a cold on the day of surgery? Audee
