Lower BMI Bandsters!
I am getting hungry too and feeling week. I was told by my nurtionist that I can have drinkable yogurt tomorrow and up to 6 protein shakes on Wednesday. My question is when can I start creamy soups?????? I can't wait. I want to melt some Skinny Cow cheese in them. Someone is eating Skinny Cow cheese here per her nutrionist post of day 4. Man, why can't I??????????????? She had me on 4 weeks of liquids, shakes, soups, yogurt and then solids after that. Audree

January Bandsters???
I was able to sleep on my tummy and sides the night back to the hotel from the hospital. My port is not sore during the day. It was a little sore last night, but laying on my heating pad helped. I find putting a little squishy pillow under my port feels good too! Congrats on your surgery! Let us know how you are doing! Audree

Also found this on water intake: "Pace yourself through out the day. I drink 5 or 6 16.9 oz bottles of water per day. Or the equivalent in tea or crystal light as well as my water. I drink 1 bottle before I get to work (at home, on the way to office) I drink another bottle between arriving at work and going to lunch Another bottle after lunch, before I leave the office Another after dinner That is 5 bottles. But somewhere during the day I usually manage to get some more in, and always end up drinking around 6 bottles, or between 84 and 100 oz. As for water fitting in the small stomach, it goes right through the aband, so that as long as you don't gulp it, you are mostly filling the large portion of your stomach. "

I found this on another thread for constipation: "What I have found is that you can take 2 tablespoons of ground flax seeds (which are almost tasteless), and mix it in with one packet of instant oatmeal for breakfast. That works well, and doesn't alter the taste of the oatmeal at all. In addition to the fiber effect, the ground flax seed provides other nutritional benefits. It has the good omega-3 fats, lignans, (which are antioxidants that promote breast and colon health). Research has shown it to be helpful in keeping cholesterol in check. Two tablespoons adds 60 calories, but contains 4 grams of fiber and 3 grams of protein. It tastes kind of nutty. Add it to whatever you'd like. I put it in soups, stews, pancakes, breads, top yogurt with it.. "

Add rest of ingreients to pot, with just enough stock or Water to cover contents. Simmer for 2-3 hours. Serve with melted cheese and fresh onions on top. Variations: Vegetarian: Replace turkey with texturized vegetable protein or tofu, and chicken stock with vegetable stock. Usually veggies have their favorite meat replacement. Or skip the replacement and add another can of beans or more vegetables. Also be sure to add a tablespoon of either Peanut Butter or miso soup concentrate to the mix. You won't taste it, except that it thickens the soup and gives it a good mouthfeel. This was the secret ingredient to my Vegan Chili which I lived off of for the 2 years I was a vegetarian. Meat-Lovers: Replace turkey with beef; add 2 strips of bacon to the chili for flavor. If you want more meat, subtract a can of beans and replace with meat. Others: You don't need to follow this ingredient list exactly. My cafeteria often puts in leftover chicken breast, in tiny chunks, instead of ground turkey. If you have some old brocolli or green beans, they can do well here as well. Chili is like a casserole -- supurb left-over management.

Lower BMI Bandsters!
I got this advice on another thread about daily intake. I think it is pretty consistent with what we hear: "Calories : 1000 Fat: 20g Protein: 60 - 80g Water: 64oz" Is this about what we all are doing? Are you all journaling what you eat? I am going to journal so if I don't lose or lose slow, I know why. Audree

anyone have an IUD
I had the Mirenea IUD for like 3 1/2 years. I did enjoy not having a period, but it wasn't worth the other side effects. It was harder for me to lose weight no matter what I did. I had a lower libido, felt moodier among things. I feel so much better having it out. My periods are lighter than before Mirena. I am very glad I had it out! Weight loss was also easier after I had it out. I am glad it's out now for my weight loss with the band. Audree

I already have a my space, but I don't want them to know I am banded. I am a very private person and a lot of my family are very negative and gossipy. Do you know how i can make a 2nd page just for my lapband? Audree

I used Dr. Ortiz in Mexico. His staff was so attentive. They always answered my calls even during the holidays any time. I even get Dr. Ortiz's cell phone that I can call anytime, 24 hours a day. I had a great experience, 3 days post of and feeling really good! His website is obesitycontrolcenter.com Audree

Best 0 calorie/low calorie foods?
My nutrionist told me to eat those Special K Protein Meal Bars for Breakfast, not to have Protein shakes. Better to have solids than protein shakes. What about having a little shake and a bar, or shake for a snack to get your protein. Audree

January Bandsters???
Yesterday, post of day 2 I had broth for brunch, at home I had broth again , then broth again for dinner. I had one Jello cup, gatorade, and two ice pops. I am about to have some Better Than Boullion. My stomach feels like it is imploding and cramping from hunger. I also feel week. I wish I could start on cream soups. I am going to email my nutrionist. I am wearing a tank top type bra that holds me in. How much are you eating? Am I eating too much? I am just eating when I feel hungry and stopping when I feel full. Audree

January Bandsters???
Hi Kellie! It sucked vomitting after surgery!!! The only good thing about it, is that I felt a lot of gas coming out of my mouth as I vomitted. Did that happen to you? So, I don't have the gas pains in my shoulders like some have. I am on day 3 pre op and can't wait till the creamy soups. I can have yogurt on day 4 and creamy soups on day 7, but I would like it sooner. I am feeling hungry!!! Audree

January Bandsters???
I got one of those and a picture ID card from Dr. Ortiz. I had just heard some people getting a bad response at the restaurant when showing it. I think all restaurants should honor it!!! Audree

January Bandsters???
It actually doesn't look so bad. My four top incisions fall under my breast, so won't really be seen. My port is to the left, up under my ribcage a couple inches down. Mine are crazy glued so they look good. I am laying on top of a heating pad, tummy down and it feels really good! The port is actually, on me at least, not under the direct incision, but like an inch bellow the cut. How are you feeling overall? Audree

I was just banded on Friday, Jan. 5. I feel really good. I am feeling swollen and have gas pains, but that is very minor for having someone all up in my guts!:faint: I am tired too. Probably due to the low calories. I am really excited to be beginning my journey!!! Audree:clap2:

Lower BMI Bandsters!
Congrats Faybie!!!! That is awesome!!! I can't wait to lose weight! The doctor told me, even being lower bmi, that I could lose anywhere from 28 to 58 pounds in 6 months, that it depended on me! To plan on burning all my clothes. I will donate them cuz I have some really nice clothes. I may want to have some altered. We just need to remember our rules. Does anyone have them to post again to give us a friendly reminder and see if we are doing them properly??? Audree

Lower BMI Bandsters!
Yeah,, the Wolfgang Puck is definitely worth it! It just tastes meaty with out meat. It is like 720 grms sodium a cup. Have you tried Better than boullion? I was thinking about getting some. The regular broth just isn't hitting the spot. They had some awesome home made chicken broth in Mexico that spoiled me!!!! I am not sure I want to weigh during these six weeks. I think I may just measure and see how my clothes fit. I also had diahrea yesterday and my stomach felt funny, girgly, gassy. Audree

LaJuanna: They put my port right under my ribs, a few inches from the middle where my ribs meet, to the left and a couple inches down. So, no where near the waist area. I thought I'd be in more pain. I am somewhat sore, last night before bed more sore. When is your surgery scheduled? Audree

My Life as a Bandster
I just wanted to come over and say hi! You are doing great! It sounds like you are in the process of taming your sweet tooth and winning! As for the carbs, most of all of us that have a weight problem have a carb problem. For me,, the more carbs I eat, the hungrier I feel, the moodier I feel, I just feel insatiable!!! It could also be something called Candida that requires a body cleanse. It is a yeast in our bodies that demands we eat carbs and sweets. I am doing good. I am not physcially hungry, but mentally hungry. I want to taste and feel the textures of food. I am day 3 post of today. Dr. Miranda said I could have yogurt, the drinkable kind, tomorrow. I read somewhere that someone said they could have skinny cow cheese on their fourth day. I am going to email her and ask. I don't think I want to weigh myself until my fill if I can help it. Someone recommended that. I think it was good advice. I am sure I will tell from my clothes. This time isn't really intended for weight loss anyway. How soon after surgery did you schedule your fill? Did you just email them or call? Who did you call? Keep in touch! God Bless!! Audree
