  1. Family is usually the worse. I don't know why life has to be a competition. We need to support each other not compete. I have four cousins and three friends who have all had gastric bypass. This group doesn't mean any harm, but they don't understand why I'm losing so slowly. They understand that banders loose slowly, but...
  2. I knew before you said it, that she was overweight, too. Forget her, she's just jealous. And rude!
  3. Ok, I'm talking to one of my friends on the telephone and I told her about my post. I love her dearly and talk to her everyday...she doesn't understand either. She said it's natural for people to ask. I agree, but I just don't want people to lead with that question at the beginning of the conversation. Literally five minutes after my initial post, one of my friends called. I haven't talked to her in about a month. So just guess what her first question was? Ok, I give up. LOL
  4. Thanks, Rainydayz. I was confused by the post, also. Bren, yes, I am referring to other people in my life.
  5. You really want to hear a sad story? I had surgery Dec 29 and lost 19 pounds in 10 days. I have NOT lost any pounds since. No, I'm not kidding. I had a fill Feb 11 and still haven't lost any pounds. I've lost inches and have some clothes that I cannot wear anymore. You can look at me and tell that I'm losing, but it doesn't show on the scale. I have another fill next week. I'm praying to God that I can start losing some pounds. It is frustrating, but what else can you do? (other than cry, kick and scream) LOL. Hang in there. For your sake and mine, I have to believe it will get better....eventually.
  6. OMG, ever since I had the surgery, everyone wants to know how much weight I've lost. Not how I'm doing, not how school is going (I started gradute school a month ago), BUT how much weight have you lost!!! If I had lost a lot of weight I probably wouldn't be so bothered by the question, but really. And I think it's just RUDE to ask someone that every week. Gosh.
  7. I didn't have any problems either. I also ate on the plane with no problems.
  8. Is yours under your muscle or under your stomach? My doc said he sewed mine under the muscle. I can feel it but by no means does it stick out (I carry my weight in my midsection). The only thing I've ever done with a bikini is move it out of the way for the one piece :-) Congrats on your sucess.
  9. Congratulations. You've had great success!! Thanks for sharing.
  10. If it was an exact science, we would all be thin.
  11. I started using a straw a couple of weeks ago. It does put more air in your stomach. But I've been able to burp the air back up. I drink more Water with my straw than without. After I get my second fill, I won't drink out of straws again for a couple of months. I was told not to drink anything with carbonation...ever. But I do have a friend who had gastric 6 years ago and she doesn't seem to have any problems. But who knows if her stomach is being stretched out.
  12. When you're still hungry and don't feel full...you eat more. Having the surgery doesn't automatically break all bad habits.
  13. Wow, we're all in the same boat. I wish I had gone to get my second fill sooner. I'm scheduled for March 24. I'm struggling to not gain any of my loss back.
  14. I've always been able to feel mine. Even though it hurt to do so after surgery, but I just needed to know that it was there. LOL.
  15. Thanks, Cindy. That's really encouraging. I'm only two months out. Eating out is my biggest challenge. But, I see there's a light at the end if the tunnel.
  16. Gosh, I wish I had some good advice to offer. I agree with the previous post, remain consistent in contacting the insurance company. I think they so no a lot hoping people will get tired of fighting and pay themselves. I'll keep you in my prayers.
  17. I was banded on the same day. I feel the same way that you do. I had lost 19 pounds by day 12. Then I gained 5 back (when I moved to the next food group). Now I've lost 3 of those. But that was over a month ago. Since then...NOTHING. I am still losing a ton of inches and the loss is noticable to others. You're doing more excercise than I am but I can relate to the frustration. I had my fill on Feb 11. I think eventually our bodies will catch up and we just have to hang in there until then.
  18. Today I wore a pair of pants that I haven't worn in a month. I instinctively sucked in before I buttoned....(jumping and shouting) I didn't need to do that!!!! Congratulations to all of you, too!
  19. I had no idea my skirt was this far past my knees. The smaller hips and butt have gotten, the longer my skirt is. Too funny! Maybe it was always too little and I was just squeezing myself into it .
  20. I just had my first fill Friday. I feel no restriction whatsoever. I hope I have a delayed reaction verses no reaction at all. (scary!)
  21. String cheese is great, too. It's high in protein and tasty. It's not blended, but it's still a soft food.
  22. Oh, no, I don't want to be hungrier!!! My NUT told me that most people take 3 - 4 fills before they get to the right amount of restriction. I don't feel any restriction at all. I read on somebody's post that it was two weeks after their fill before they felt restriction. Ugh. This is not an exact science, but I sure hope it works! I haven't had problems with any foods yet. I had pasta today; no problems. The two things that I love but haven't tried yet are popcorn and rice. Do you have any problems with foods?
  23. My day finally came. I got two cc's today. I'm supposed to be on mushies for two days. I just can't bring myself to eat anything blended (blech). So I've been drinking Protein drinks. I can't tell a difference yet. But I sure hope it makes a difference for me. My hunger has picked up tremendously. So I do the old Water trick (drink water, wait 15 minutes to see if you were hungry or thirsty). Anyway, here's to the future!
  24. I drink my coffee black. But coffee did not taste good to me after surgery. So, I didn't drink any for about a month. Since I really like the taste, I tried it again. Now it's hit or miss whether I drink it every day or not (NOT the pre-band me at all). I wish candy tasted nasty...
