  1. Hmmm, very interesting. I never knew that and I tan quite often. My scars don't look too bad. But then I don't know if they would look any better had I not covered my stomach.
  2. Thank you for this. I've been banded for a year now and haven't had any success. But...I have no one to blame but myself. Your post is just what I needed to read. * I posted this before I read the entire thread. I have to say that I was a bit saddened by it as well. Your OP was just what I needed to read, the rest, not so much. Congrats on your success and all the best to you in the future.
  3. That's wonderful news!!! Congrats to you!
  4. I never really felt anything moving around, but I feel my port ALL the time. It often gets in the way. And when I get a fill, I can feel the saline going through the tube and into the band. It's so weird.
  5. Glad your first fill went well. I had my first fill on March 10th. I have an 11cc band and was given 5 1/2 cc's. Like you, I was also able to feel the saline go into the port and into the band. My doc looked at me like I was crazy when I told him I could feel it. Hahaha. He had me lay down on the examination table and had me raise both my legs in the air and hold them there while he stuck the needle in and injected the saline. It wasn't until after he took the needle out and had me sit up did I drink some Water. Thankfully, the water went down fine. I also go back in 6 weeks. Good luck!
  6. It's unfortunate that your port flipped. You seem to be in good spirits despite the setback. Unfortunately, for me, it's situations like this that make me wish I would've gone with the gastric sleeve as opposed to the band. My port gets in the way of my daily activities all the time and will sometimes hurt. It's very frustrating. I've had to learn to move around differently because of it. Thankfully, my port hasn't flipped and I pray to God that it never does.
  7. I am two weeks post-op today. My port is in the front of my belly. Slightly left of my belly button. I didn't know my doc was going to put it there; thought it was going more on my side. And to be honest, I'm not too happy about it. Well, the port gets in the way of me leaning forward, bending down to pick things off the floor or to clean and will jab me on the inside. It can be very painful at times. I'm now having to find other ways of bending down so that I don't get hurt. I mentioned to my doc during my appt. with him a week after surgery that the port jabs me when I lean forward or bend down. He told me that I'm still having to adjust and didn't see any cause for concern. So has anyone else experienced this and did it get better?
