    Steady losers ;-)

Beversman, sorry to hear that you had a rough year. I had a rough '09 also. I had to be rebanded last January due to a slip and I just can't seem to get back to where I was. I have gained back almost 30lbs and feel HORRIBLE. The Dr. says that's pretty normal because the first go around you are extremely careful with everything you eat. The 2nd time, you already know how to bypass things and I have no virtually no restriction still. I have had 4 fills and am up to 10 on a 13cc band. I'm soooooooo frustrated with myself I can't even stand it. I wish you the best success on round two. I'll be thinking about you.

    New guy starting journey

Derek- Congratulations on your decision. I wish you the very best. If you ever have any questions please free to ask.
  6. Emma- I agree with everyone else, you and your doctor should consider what is best for you. I had a friend of mine who had the bypass done 5 years ago, she lost over 200lbs but now, she has gained back about 75% of that. There are no guarantees which way you go. It is something you need to resolve your self to that this is a lifestyle change not just one of restriction. I think the important thing is to do what you think is right, don't let your friend convince you to do something... your the one who has to live with your decision and your doctor can verify, it is not a guarantee either way. Best of luck to you.

    Driving after surgery?

I was told defintely no driving for alittle while, especially right after surgery. The doctor said given the surgery my muscles wouldn't have the same reaction time. Maybe you could take a bus or something like that or offer to pay a friend gas money to drive you. Just a thought. Good luck with your surgery and take care.

    Massachusetts Bandsters Chat

When you create one in the ticker factory, down the bottom it gives you some code (copy the one that says to be used on forums etc). You need to copy that and insert it into your signature under your screen name on the forum. You go to the main page of Lapband Talk, click on your screen name in the upper right hand corner. Once that comes up, you will look for the customize profile link which is to the right of your sceen name. Click on that then in the left hand column go down to edit signature. You can then insert your name and hit enter then paste the code that you copied under your name and click save. You should then be all set. Hope this helps. Good Luck and congratulations on your upcoming date!

    Re-Banded

Froggy- I too had a slip, I am scheduled on 1/28 to go in and have it fixed. My Dr. said that there was no need to take it out and wait, she's just going to go in and either reposition it or replace it at that time. I have not been really sick, just unable to eat good foods. I used to be able to have a salad or a cup of soup, now I can not tolerate either as they get stuck or come back up on me. I have really bad reflux at night, I can't eat anything for a few hours before bed because if I do, I'm up all night. My insurance is covering the repair of the band without question. My Dr. said that because it was considered a complication from surgery the insurance would cover it. If you had a slip and it was taken off to give you time to hear your Insurance company should cover it. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and best of luck to you with getting your band replaced.

    Steady losers ;-)

I will definitely try to refocus. I think once I get through the surgery again I'll be fine. I just really don't do well after surgery, I have a really hard time waking up from the anesthesia and I get really sick so I'm really not looking forward to that. Once that is over though I should be fine. Sorry to hear you had a rough time with yours but you have accomplished so much. I wish I could have lost as much as you. I used to be focused on weight, then I got down to a size 12 and said gee I guess I don't look all that bad so i guess I'll stay here, well I got too complacent and then the slip and it was all down hill from there... Just gonna refocus and look at this as a fresh start... Keep me posted on your 11lbs and good luck!

    Slippage and now repair

I had had bad reflux for awhile. The Dr. unfilled and filled my band several times, it was ok for awhile but then happened again. She finally sent me for a barium swallow test and saw the slip.

    I'm so cold-is this normal?

Me too... with me though it's mostly my hands and feet that get cold... that electric blanket does sound like a great idea...

    Steady losers ;-)

Hello All- Wow I can't believe it, the people that were around when I started my Journey are still around even though like transformer I too had a horrible year and kind of disappeared. Transformer-I hope 2009 is much better for you-. Part of my bad year was a band slip that I'm finally going in to have fixed on 1/28. That unfortunately kind of put my weightloss on hold. At my best I was down 80lbs and I have since gained back 15. I am wondering if anyone else has had a slip and after it being fixed was able to continue to loose? Two people I spoke with yesterday said after the fix one didn't loose any and the other it was very slow going. Any insight to that question would be much appreciated. Anyway, I'm glad to see everyone had been doing well... hopefully everyone has a great 2009. Take Care!

    anyone close to fall river,ma?

Hi there- I'm actually in Swansea and had Dr. Vernon also. I was banded on 12/21/06.
  15. I used Carnation Instant Breakfast (no sugar added), that was a recommendation from the dietician in my Dr's office, she said it was one of the best tasting ones out on the market and honestly, it wasn't bad at all. Everyonce in awhile after surgery I still have them and throw in a banana. It's like a chocolate banana milk shake... DH thinks I'm crazy but hey, I like it... Good luck to you, I'm actually having my band redone on 1/28 so if you would, please wish me the same...
