    Hypo-Thyroid Bandsters

This has been a long struggle for me too. I have hypothyroidism, and almost have had my band for 2 yrs, and have only lost 25lbs. I'm not sure if my thyroid has as much to do with my small weight loss as my being a poor bandster does...will never give up though!
  4. 1 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 1st Anniversary forevadee!

  5. Congrats! You're doing great. After six months, I'm still stuck @ my weight of 239. Started @ 265. But weight lost is weight lost! I just think I need to get remotivated. And maybe another fill.
  6. Cooking, cooking, cooking. Really going to try hard to only eat dinner on a small salad plate. I can eat anything at this point. I don't know if that's a burden or a blessing?!

    Losing weight to fast?

I also lost about 13 pounds my first week. Now that I'm on soft foods, my weight loss has slowed down dramatically. I also don't think I have too much resriction, because I can drink quite a bit, quite fast, and eat about a cup or more of food. I'm almost 4wks post op. But I don't stay full for very long, only a few hrs. Even tho I don't drink @ all with meals, and I'm eating good quality protien first. Anyone have any help for me? I'm still waiting to get a fill on the 30th. But this hunger is just killing me. Do the fills help?

    Handling Cravings

If u buy a big portion, try freezing half or more of it. What helps me with my sweet tooth cravings is sipping on sugar free coolaid. Or just buy a smal single serving of something.

How to get rid of the gas????

Walk everywhere in ur house. Walk circles around ur coffee table if u have to! It helps tremendously.
  10. The first couple days for me was a lil rough. I was definetly sore, had absolutely no energy, and had to struggle just to stay hydrated. Sleeping was interesting to say the least. I never had any gas, because right after my surgery, I walked and walked my life away. Just take things slow, have people help u w/ stuff, and you'll be fine! And remember to take ur meds. When ur not in pain, ur body can heal faster!
  11. I went in for surgery on May 17th. Had to wake up @ 4:30 am to get to the hospital by 5:50. I was the first case of the day, so I was special! Lol. Everyone treated me so kindly and gently. Never had surgery before, so I was nervous, out of my mind! Went in to the pre-op o.r., attemped an iv 3 times! Lol, put my gown on, and scrubbed down w/ yucky stuff. Which later made me itch all over. It mostly felt weird being nakie under there! Lol. They took me on the gurney to the o.r. wen we got in, I was kinda freaked out cus it was so cold, and I work in a hospital, and really saw it from the other side. The anesthesiologist told me too take three deep breaths, I don't remember the third one...lol. I woke up in the pacu kind of chokin, or crying cus I totally forgot I was having surgery, and freaked out a lil. But my male nurse was hott, and loaded me with awesome meds. Once I got back to my suite, I was doing fine. But its so embarrasing, I guess I had an accident in the pacu, which mortified me. Hope I'm not the only one! Ate lunch fine, super slow, but did good. Stayed the night and walked all night. I was very drowsy and sore, but I made myself walk so I wouldn't get gas pains. And never really did. Went and saw the beautiful water fountain they had. Even got some good rest there. All the nurses were so sweet. The next morning took a shower and got to go home...it actually was a wonderful experience. Lol, I missed being papmered @ the hospital, and their morphine. But postop I only needed the loratab for 3-4 days after...now 3 weeks later I'm onto soft foods and doing great.
  12. I was banded may 17th. Since surgery, I've lost 18lbs. Weight loss has definetly slowed down since staring soft solid foods. I'm hoping to get my first fill june 30th! But so far so good! Haven't thrown up, or had any nausea. Having a lil trouble with cravings tho. I have a major sweet tooth. So, anything sweet is a temptation for me. Also, need to start working out too,to speed up weight loss. Other than I'm Doing, and healing great. My surgeon was awesome.
