    preggo question!

I just had my baby two weeks ago...never had an unfill at all and never had any issues either! My OB said that unless they determine the baby isn't getting enough nutrition, you are fine.
  3. I'm thrilled to announce (13 days later) that my band baby has arrived! She is absolutely perfect. Meagan Olivia was born 1/14/13 and was 6lbs9oz 17.75" long. She is healthy and happy and I couldn't be more thrilled! I had no problems with the band during my pregnancy at all...in fact, I had no morning sickness because of the smaller and more frequent meals I had to eat. Also did not need an unfill...thank goodness! So now I'm trying to get back on track and lose what little weight I gained during my pregnancy...7 pounds to go...plus the extra 35 to get to my goal weight. I think breastfeeding will help with that as well. God bless, bandsters!! Maggs

    4 weeks with Band Question

I'd agree with a couple posts above...it sounds like you might be a tad too tight as it is right now. I'm 36w5d pregnant and haven't had to have an adjustment...I do have to eat a smaller amount for Breakfast, but a normal (for me) size lunch and dinner, plus a couple Snacks in there too. I've been craving milk, so I'm getting more Protein from milk throughout the day as well. I had decided early on to not worry about weight gain and if I needed an unfill, I'd cross that bridge when I came to it. It's about getting enough nutrients to your baby, BUT as far as "eat an extra 300 calories a day" philosophy...yeah, I haven't done that so much. Still eating what I was eating before, plus some extra milk...and OJ (another craving!) My baby is right on track for how far along I am...not too big or too small. And I've only gained about 15 pounds or so with about 3 weeks to go! I've also been waking up lately at like 3am, hungry! So that's new. Ha! I'll have some milk and a piece of toast and normally that is plenty to make it to breakfast. Good luck, mama!!
  5. After two menstrual cycles (2 months of periods following getting married.) and yes, BAM is just excitement. I'm now 27 weeks pregnant with a little girl and I eat what I want, frankly. I try to eat healthy, but she has me craving sweets!! I limit it, but still haven't gained a ton of weight. I actually lost about 7 pounds and have just put about 10 on so far. If you haven't lost any weight yet, you might need more fills.
  6. ..and pregnant! Hello! I'm Maggie, 33, from Columbus, Ohio (though I was banded in Chicago) and would love a buddy to chat with! I'm currently 20w4d pregnant, expecting a little girl in January 2013! First time mom, only "tried" for two months to conceive. I feel so blessed to have not had any complications so far. Not even any morning sickness! Anyway, this forum seems slow, but I'm hoping there are some other Columbus bandsters out there who might like to keep in touch! Blessings to all!
  7. I was banded in June 2010, got married to my best friend of 13 years this past March and pregnant by May! We weren't trying, but weren't preventing it either. But the sooner the better! I'm already 33 and didn't want to push it out too far. Thanks to 70 pound weight loss, my doc says I'm not high risk what-so-ever! So, after two cycles BAM! Expecting. Gotta love how the band resolves old health issues!
  8. The baby won't need much more that you are probably already eating. In the second trimester, they recommend you increase your calorie content by about 300...but the baby will take from YOU what he/she needs. Make sure you are taking a prenatal vitamin. Any will do, just if you take the gummies, you will also need an iron supplement. And drink a lot of water! Juice is also good while pregnant for a few extra calories. I eat several smaller meals a day now...I'm 20w4d...and I was able to avoid morning sickness completely. I've been told its because I physically can't gorge on a meal and HAVE to eat several smaller meals or snacks--that was preventing the MS. If you have been following the eating recommendations from your Lapband doc, you should be fine. Lots of protein, veg and fruit are good for you and the baby! That all being said, I'm having a girl and crave sugar alllllll the time now!! I try to eat more fruit because of it, but I'm giving in once in a while and eating that cookie or small candy bar. Oh, and gummy bears are my best friend. Geez!! Ha! All in moderation is ok. I've only gained one pound, so I guess it's alright. Let me know what other questions you might have! Not that I'm some expert, but I do know what you're going through! Sticky bean dust for you!!!
  9. It's weird how different doctors have different schools of thought when comes to being plus-sized with or without a band and pregnant. I'm 20w4d and at my first appointment, my OB recommended I gain no more than 25 pounds. I know some people the same size as me (200lbs pp) that have been told not to gain a single pound!! Crazy. So far I've gained 1 pound. I actually had zero (sorry!) morning sickness and have just been eating more regularly than I was even doing before. She also didn't mention that she thought a c-section might be necessary. It of course MIGHT be, but we will try vaginal delivery, if possible. I had only lost about 70 pounds from the band placed in June 2010--still have about 30 to go. But everything looks great and it was such a relief to hear my doctor say she doesnt think I'm high risk at all since I have lost the weight! I'm praying for sticky bean dust for you!! I worried everyday through my first trimester...still do! But just this week I've been able to feel her moving around quite a bit. (Especially after a glass of OJ!) Just trust that your body knows what to do and you've already taken a huge step to getting healthier! Your little bean will appreciate that more than anything. Blessings to all us mamas (and hopefully soon-to-be mamas) in here!
  10. Found out we are expecting in January! Now praying for a healthy baby...

  11. Well, I've lost 70 pounds...about 30-35 from my goal...but that is going to have to wait. Just found out that we are expecting our first baby!! I'm only a little over 6 weeks along, but feeling awesome so far. Another cool thing...my GP says I'm not high risk! I have perfect blood pressure and great pulse...something I never would have had without the surgery. Anyway, a lot can still happen (go wrong) so I'm not telling EVERYONE yet, but yeah. I consider that a success.. Would have been a lot harder trying to conceive before I lost the weight. This was only our second try. For now, just praying for a healthy baby...first ultrasound in two 1/2 weeks...I can hardly wait! I am totally a bag of nerves...I just need to see that things are progressing as they should.. Then I can breathe a bit!! Hope everyone on here is doing well. Blessings, all! Maggs
  12. Happy 33rd Birthday maggs79!

  13. Haven't been on here in ages--kind of stalled in my weightloss after moving back to Ohio. But getting back on track now!!

    10 Months Post Op.

Well, I hoped I'd have a MEGA success story about some ridiculous weight loss, but I have lost about 40 pounds in 10 months. (I had to stop myself from saying "only" 40 pounds. 40 pounds is still great, right?) I AM down 4 pants sizes...I think it's because I work out fairly regularly. I have to tell myself that that is why my weight hasn't shifted as quickly as I'd like...muscle weighs more than fat. And I've been doing a lot of weight training to build those muscles. I can at least SEE a difference. Even on a month to month basis for the most part. I have an appointment tomorrow for a fill...I had .5cc removed from the band 2 months ago. I think I might only have .25cc put in tomorrow and see how that goes for me. Kinda dreading the appointment, to be honest. I've only lost a couple of pounds since that last appointment. Yuck. But I'm trying to figure out this whole thing. Even 10 months on, I'm still learning every single day! Today I bought a Fitbit from Best Buy to track my activity and sleep, etc. I hope it works for me. If it does, I will sing its praises on here for sure. Let you know in a month or so! Anyway, GOOD LUCK to everyone who is about to be banded. I do not regret it one bit! I just wish I was a fast loser...but a loser is a loser! Ha! Who'd have thought I would WANT to be a "loser?" Blessings all! xo ~M
