  4. During my pre op diet, I would drink 3-4 shakes and then I was allowed a 5 ounce piece of meat/protein plus 2 cups of veggies.

    4th day Preop diet

Sorry to hear you are having such a hard time. I have never drank whey protein shakes. I have tried 2 kinds but had to force myself to drink them. I drink the Myoplex Lite Chocolate Fudge and enjoy them. They are 170 calories, 2 grams fat, 20 grams protein, 5 grams fiber, 4 grams sugar. I buy the ready to drink ones at Sam's. I know it is so hard to find one you like. I hated trying all different kinds. I am a baby about trying things. I hope you find something that works! Check out my blog:Believe

    Finally getting better!

I know it is hard to not be frustrated!!! It sounds like you are doing great. You are doing everything you are supposed to do. You just have to have faith that you will see the results. I have to stop comparing weight loss to others on here or it would drive me crazy. Do you feel better in your clothes? Maybe you are losing more inches than you know. Check out my blog: Believe

    3 More Days!

It is normal to be nervous and unsure at times, at least for me it was. I think it is like getting on a rollercoaster that is bigger than one you have ever been on. You want to. You are excited but you still think about maybe just not getting on. You have butterflies. You try to talk yourself out of it. When others are obese. I think they are almost jealous and afraid when they know someone close to them is getting WLS. Good luck! Check out my blog: Believe

    Newly Banded Needs Help!

I was banded June 8th. My band is empty now and I will not get a fill until July 29th, which will make it 7 weeks after surgery. I feel your pain. I haven't lost any weight in the last 3-4 weeks. I lose a few pounds and then put them back on. When can you start introducing oatmeal, mash potatoes, etc? I feel your pain. It will get better when you can add more foods.

    Motivation has Left the Building

I am sorry you are having such a hard time. It is strange and so unprofessional that your doctor is not actively searching for an answer. I am hoping you find some relief!
  13. I just read up ont he previous posts. I am thinking and praying for those who are having their surgery in the next day or two. I was banded yesterday. I am trying to take it super easy on my liquid diet. I have not really felt hungry or full yet. I am doing my best to listen to my body and figure out what it is telling me. I have managed to get down about half of a protein shake this morning. My goal is to get my protein in for the day and stay hydrated. I am trying to walk a lot! It is about to rain so I keep pacing up and down our long hallway. I am sore but overall doing good. I am very nervous about upsetting my stomach. In a way, I am afraid of the band and just want to be very cautious!! I don't want any complications. I would love to hear how everyone else is doing! Ashly

    Might as well face it...

I have been having a REALLY hard time too! Old habits are hard to break. Over the weekend, I went to a birthday party. I didn't eat anything there but used that as an excuse to have bites later. Tomorrow it will be 2 weeks post op and I have already been eating soft foods. I have found I can eat just about anything. I have got to stop taking bites here and there. I am upset with myself but we will just have to kick ourselves out of it. Next week I am going to a rehearsal dinner and wedding! It is hard to watch people eat. My own family orders takeout, makes pancakes, etc. I feel like a recluse that comes and gets on the internet while they eat.
  16. Thanks for the encouragement yesterday! I am feeling better. My PMS turns me into a monster. I have been battling depression for years. Most days I am good but the negative thought still try to make a comeback. I am weighing everyday. I am not so sure that is a good idea. How are you doing??

    PMS and the Band

This is the first PMS I have had with the band. I am hoping my PMS is why I feel soooooooo grumpy, annoyed, and overall blah. I know it is. I am someone who usually feels like I want to punch something when I am PMSing. Usually, I calm my ugly mood with food. I am craving chocolate and NOT my chocolate protein shake. I know this too shall pass. I need to remember why I had this surgery. I gained a 1.5 pounds yesterday. I am sure I am retaining water. I was down 19.5 but now 18. I am truly someone who suffers more mental, emotional symptoms from PMS than physical. Maybe I can let a Hershey Kiss disolve in my mouth. I will have to give the back to someone and have them lock it up after I get 1!

Trying to Beat My DNA - 2 weeks post-op

My surgeon prescribed pepcid twice a day the day I left the hospital. Hopefully, that will help a lot. I would definitely be bummed also! My protein shakes are so NOT appealing right now. I mean maybe one a day but not 3. I have lost interest in chicken broth. We can do this. We can do this. We can do this.
  19. I completely understand it is pure hell. I had a hard time because I wanted to eat things I knew I wouldn't get to eat after the band. I had a last super mentality and I know that is what got me here. I was not perfect. I was really good with my shakes but splurged. I was alowed to eat a 5oz of meat and 2 cups of non starchy vegetables. I lost 9 pounds Are you on strictly liquids?
  20. I will confess the words confuse me. I also get confused about choose and chose:eek:. Other mispelled words do bother on here I am usually typing so fast and I get lazy and do not want to check my spelling. I notice in texts messages a lot more. I am a teacher so I completely understand always noticing. Now that I think about it I might need a typing class:tongue:.

better but at a stand still

Staying positive is all we can do. WE KNOW the weight will come off. Just have to follow the guidelines and let our body and the band do the rest. I am definitely getting hungry at times! I have been walking a lot and finally have been going to the bathroom. I am battling head hunger this week but I am succeeding. The hunger is like a contraction. It feels horrible and you don't think you can make it BUT then it passes and doesn't seem like it was so bad.
  22. I am currently drinking Mypoplex Light (I believe it is made by EAS). It has 170 calories, 2 grams fat, 20 grams of protein. It has a thinner consistency. They have it at Walmart, Target. I buy mine at Sam's. I heard the NECTAR is wonderful! I am going tomorrow to check it out. I like my protein shakes but need to change it up. Good luck in your search!

I'm so sick of Nay sayers

I am only one week post op but I know that I would do it again. I know that EVENTUALLY we will get to eat small portions of delicious food! I have one more week of my full liquid diet. I think of what the alternative is. I would be doing ANOTHER diet and being super strict and then eating anything and everything. I think about my daughter not having to take care of an obese mom. I think of the health problems I will not have down the road. I think of this being a gurantee, if I do my part, then I will not get bigger and bigger as time goes on but will lose this weight. This is not easy at all, especially when for a moment you wish you could give in to your old habits, BUT then I think of the way I felt when I did indulge. I felt hopeless. I felt ashamed. This road is not an easy one but it is one of HOPE. When I told my EX about this, I said I am not looking for suggestions or opinions but wanted to tellyou. If only we could be that forward with everyone Good luck!
  24. I am almost 1 week post op. I am on full liquids and will be for the next week. I am confused about how much liquid I can have at one setting. I have read information that suggests drinking 2 ounces of your protein shake every 3 hours. My doctor did not have very specific guideline as fas as the quanity of something you should have in a specific time period. Do you measure your liquids and only drink so much in a specific time? If anyone can, I really need to see a typical day of someone on a full liquid diet that is getting in their protein and fluids. Also, do your protein shakes count towards your 48-64 fluid ounces??? As we speak I am drinking 8 ounces of PowerAide Zero. I am sipping. Should I sip to the point that this takes me half an hour to drink? Thanks in advance. I am frustrated and will be calling my dr. tomorrow and try to get more specific questions answered. For the past few days, I have been sipping but drinking like 6 ounces of my protein shake at a time. I felt fine then but am not feeling well today. No vomiting though.
  25. Thanks for your help! I am going to make sure I am not having more than 4 oz of my shake at a time. When were you banded? I think I have left the honeymoon period of getting banded. That is very good that you drink 48 ounces of water! I have been drinking a lot of Crystal Light, etc but very little water. Tomorrow before my workshop I am going to go get a Route 44 ice water from Sonic and drink that all day there (8-4). I appreciate it! I was getting so frustrated.
