    Have I failed???

wow i can relate to this..... i was just asking myself how long should i beat myself up for gaining 20 LBS. back and having the "I don't care attitude" boy we can talk our selves into to alot of things. I hope you find the strength to move on as I did, and know that when we fail it will only make us stronger. so all we can do is take one day at a trime. wishing you success.

  7. he's a cutie. You look fabulous. Your husband must think he's with a new woman...... Hee Hee .. congrats.
  8. Hi just a quick note to tell you just go for it it will work but you have to go into it nowing that this is only a tool and everything you put in your mouth is going to count unlike the people who have gastric bypass where alot of there food goes right through without the body using it. I feel it was a good choice for me, and I am sure if you know all the rules and follow them you will be a success. I have 32 LBS. to go I got a little sidetracked but thats not the lapbands fault it's mine because I'm not using it properly. As for the week of liquids i don't recall being on liquids just before surgery, so sorry cant help you there. just afterwards i was on liquids for a few days then to puree foods. I wish you luck and if you have anyother questions you can private message me i dont mind we are here for each other, ok. Good Luck! you will be glad you got banded
  9. Hi, Awesome weight loss! i have been banded since 2/13/08. my starting weight was 232lb. I got down to 162lbs. For the past 6 months I have had this i dont care attitude, putting something in my mouth all the time, which is usually junk food because it just works better and i dont have to worry about getting stuck. I am in a rut and i cant get out. i have thought about joining weight watchers, i think just for the support, but then i think how is that going to work?? i wont be able to eat all that much. I just dont know what i need  I think what i need is a good buddy to be my mentor, when i read your story and your success, I was impressed. i would love to be your support buddy. i just feel that i have come way to far(current weight 185LB ) to blow it all now, your help would greatly be appreciated. i hope to hear from you soon, real soon....... I need help!! God Bless

Not losing like I thought I would

congrats on your weight loss and maintaining the weight, that's the biggest problem I think is keeping the weight off. I have been banded for almost two years and was hoping to be at goal, but am not.(30LBS.to go) I have only had three fills but did go in last week for a fill and this one is helping, thank goodness. I have lost 4LBS. I am excited. So keep the faith, and really watch what you are eating, those nasty little liquids can just slide right down:) Good luck to ya! and again congrats on your accomplishments. Minnesotalady
  11. Wow! is all I can say, I don't want to sound rude or anything but why did you get the lapband? and secondly did you research any before getting the lapband? Because for starters It says DO NOT live on liquids because they go right through. I feel by what you where describing with the lapband is you are probably filled too full, you need some of the fill taken out so you can eat the solid foods. If I were you I would just take it out because you sound pretty miserable to me! Again may I remind you that the lapband is only a tool, not magic. you have to be able to work with it. What I do is eat my protein first because that is the most important then I eat maybe a side salad, potatoe...etc.. My plate size is a little plate and I have my cereal and salad from a custard size dish..... I eat very slow, small pieces and chew, chew, chew. I guess I have lost weight(54 LBS.) banded 2/13/07 yes it's been slow but i look at it this way I could have gained 54 LBS. I guess I am considered one of the lucky ones, that this truely is working for me, yeah somedays I could sit around and eat chocolate candy and milk shakes all day, but what would be the point?? I wish you success in your weight loss, I hope taking all those pills works out for you because I know with the lapband I hate taking pills, they would feel like they are stuck. And I also would hate feeling shaky, I don't think that would be good for your heart. I hope you reconsider the lapband, read lots of information and get educated and I truely think it will work for you. If you need someone to talk to, and if I can be of any help, please let me know, again I don't mean this message to be badgering but I just feel you could really be successful with the lap-band. Good Luck!

    Surgery was 12/12 - Questions

Hi everyone, It's been awhile since I have posted and I sure could use some words of encouragement! I was banded in Feb. 2006, my starting weight was 225 and I now weigh 168 so thats 57 LBS. Without any gains. I am happy with that but I was hoping to get to my goal weight of 148 by my one year anniversary. this has brought me down, I have"nt been following the rules like I should be, or exercising. How can I get back on track, and get my motivation back up there where it once was?? I would appreciate any Ideas or any words of encouragement. I hope you all have a wounderful holiday season, and may you all succeed in your weight loss journey. God Bless~ Minnesotalady
  14. HI. I guess I was told that before I had the banding that Bread was one thing that I was going to have to give up, but I know some people still eat it, but If you get sick why do u still keep eating it? I guess I was never a big bread eater before the band, so It really don't bother me to be without. Good luck!
  15. Just hang in there, everyone is different with there fills It may take just one fill or it may take several to get that right tightness, it will come just be very patient. I have had only two fills 1.4 CC total, and I am losing about two LBS. a week that's all they really want you to lose anyway. It will be worth the wait, I feel so much better, I wish you success, and never give up........... It's going to be a life change. Minnesotalady
  16. ....these are my before and current pictures. My starting weight 223 LBS. (Feb. 2007) My current picture I weigh 179.8 (June 2007)

Banded 2 months and don't know.

You said you had 3 cc in your first fill, in a 10 cc band. How did that go for you, were you able to eat that much? My doc said filling to fast probly is'nt a good thing, I was just currious on how that fill was working for you. I have the smaller band but I only have 1.4cc in my band and I have been banded for almost 4 months with a 43 LB. loss so far, I am half way to goal. good luck! Minnesotalady

    I feel wonderfull!!

I feel wonderfull!! I am so glad I had the lapband surgery, It's working so well I still can't believe it. It's been almost four months and I am down 40 LBS. I have went from a size 20-22 jeans and tops 18-20 to a jean size 16 regular and a top size L-XL. I feel so much better. The best part is that I went off my blood presure medication, my BP is lower that it has been in a long time, and my back feels much better. I had my second fill on May 29th, I have 1.4 CC's in. I'm getting used to eating slower , that has probly been the hardest thing for me. I eat pretty much anything I want , just very small portions. I do stay away from fatty foods and sodium and try to eat all food groups, but if I'm hungry for something I know I'm not suppose to be eating I just have a taste and that keeps me satisfied. I am very thrilled to have come this far on my weight loss journey, I'm almost half way. Keep up the great work everyone, and we will soon all be in skinny land. Have a great day!!

hi Carol just had to comment on your journal entry. One thing that you have to keep in mind is to be possitive, I know it's hard especially when we have been over weight and nothing has worked, sure we are going to be negative and have very little hope, I don't know how long you have been banded or how much you have lost but remember that it did'nt come over night and it is'nt going to leave that fast either. we have to be patient, this way of losing weight is slow which is a good thing. take one day at a time and keep the good attitude.... I'm going to do this!! Wishing you the best of luck in your weight loss journey.

    Should I do it?

You bet I would do it all over again. I had the lapband surgery in Feb. 2007 and I have lost almost 30 LBS. To me thats a huge accomplishment that I know I would not have done without the band. If your able to get the surgery done, Please don't hesitate because it will be the best thing that you will ever do fro yourself and your boy and most importantly for you Health! Just remember that this is a tool, and you have to work at it, by eating healthy , exercising, and choosing to get healthy. I hope this helps your desision, good luck Minnesotalady:D
