  2. KBertinelli, You are so close, 1 week to go. We are all afraid we can't do it but, we Are going to make it work this time:thumbup:!! Once banded you won't feel hungry all the time. I had my gallbladder out 3/31/10. I felt awful for 4 days and then it got better. Yup, 2 surgeries in two and half months. Not my idea of fun but, had to be done. I'll be right behind you June 16th!! Good Luck,:smile2: Carol D'
  3. Hi Ladies, What's on your Pre-op Diet. Mine doesn't sound as bad as most I've seen. start 2 weeks before surgery 1. 4 Protein shakes with 8 ozs. 1% Milk 2. 1 meal consisting of 4 ozs. lean protein and veggies 3. 2 servings of fruit + 64 ozs. or more of calorie free fluids I haven't received my day before directions yet. Some I've seen are just shakes or worse clear liquids? Carol D'

  10. Hi, Last week I had my surgery moved up from July 7th to June 30th. This afternoon I had a message from the office that "They had a cancelation and would I like to move up to June 16th?" WOW!!!! I just said YES. That means I start my 2 week pre-op diet next Tue. YAAAAAAAAAAAA!! Now I'm really excited:laugh:. I have to get all my Protein Powder and supplies. Carol D'
  11. I had a follow-up with gastric surgeon today in Boston. He was happy with with my 15 lb. loss (7 kilos?) Much happier with my blood sugar improvement. It would be great to get off insulin eventually. June 15th is my last pre-op Visit and Testing. Can't tell I'm counting down the days:smile: ? I'm figuring out how much protein powder to order for shakes, soups etc. enough for 2 week pre & 3 weeks post-op. Have great day!!
  12. I found Jewels!!! WOW. How many Kilometers away is the ocean? Absolutely Beautiful. We are about 30 Miles (35 minutes drive) to the Atlantic Ocean. New England is quite lovely with 6 very small States (9 hrs. north to south) and maybe (6 hrs. east to west) tiny compared to Australian states or provinces. New York is about a 4 hr. drive. We have 4 distinct seasons. We are just coming into our summer months. Today was our 1st warm days (I don't knnow the temp conversion 80 F maybe 25-27 C??)
  13. Hay Marion, I thought you were going to sleep, Lady?? I have a bracelet for my diabetes. Do they recommend you get one. Do you need it for Travel on airlines? I never thought of it. I will have a hunk of silicone in my belly. :scared2:They might think we have swollowed plastic explosives:lol: !!! They have the latest machines in Boston, as Logan is an International Airport, for security:ohmy: Wow!! Have you traveled by air since banding? I Google Earth-ed Lake Macquarie, it came up with Mannering Park. WOW what a beautiful area you live at. Is the Lake fresh or salt water? How big is the lake? Do you live on the water front? Is it heavily built up or remote? Nosey aren't I? It looks magnificent!!!! I'm fasinated with Australia. I'm a great armchair traveler:smile2:

  17. Hi Gals, I just talked to my sister-in-law. She was banded middle of March. She lost 14 lb. pre-op and 16 post-op so 30 total. She has had NO complications and is now back to "Real Food"!! Still losing 1-2lbs. a week so not going to have a fill until she hits a plateau(sp?). Well, the best thing to do is take it one day at a time. I started by having 1-3 Protein shakes a day and a small meal. I have had the occational treat or small cheat but just a Normal serving. It helped to shrink my stomach. Plus lots of water, tea & homemade Lemon or Lime aide. (hate crystal lite). I'm going to buy some unflavored Whey Protein powder to mix into broths or other foods (Yogurt, applesauce etc.) Check out the "age specific" 60's group further down in the forums list:wink2:!!
  18. Hi and Welcome:smile2: Wow you are moving fast!!!!! You don't have to go this fast if you're not sure or ready yet. My suggestion is read all the info you can find on this forum and get diet info from the doctors office (pre-op & post-op diets etc). It's almost a year since I started my journey. My process could have been a little faster but, it gave me time to prepare emotionally. My date is June 30th so I'm ready now:thumbup:. Best of Luck, Carol D'
  19. Welcome:smile2:!!! All of us have had issues with weight all our lives. I wish I had this opportunity earlier in my life. You can do this!! 20. I thought I was fine with everything too. But last week I had a couple anxiety attacks out of the blue? I guess I'm afraid I can't follow thru or might fail. It is going to be hard for all of us but, we have this Great Group of "New Friends" to talk to:tt1:!! Carol D'
  21. Hi, Every doctor is different? Your BMI is so low he might not be to concerned. My Dr. wanted me to lose 20-25 lbs. because I have 125 lbs. excess weight. I've seen all different scenarios. My date is June 30th so we'll be going thru this together.!!!! Good Luck, Carol D'
  22. Hi Lisa, Sorry it took so long to get back to you!! I have had a crazy busy week. I got my Surgery date bumped up to June 30th. They hadn't gotten my approval letter and I just called Megan and mentioned I had and was very anxious to see if I could get in any earlier. She said they could do it!!!:smile2:. I just gave it a shot:thumbup:. Sometimes my big mouth helps. I can't find your cell # mine is 508-243-8027. I'm in Middleboro alot. Are you any where near the rotary? Rt 18,28 or 44. I would normally say Lunch but I am trying to lose a few more lbs. Iced Coffee or Tea at Dunkin' Donuts or Dave's Diner? is Wed. the 26th good for you? Let me know. Carol D'
  23. Hi, Welcome:smile2:!! I too am 60 with very similar health issues, joint & back pain. Plus diabetes!! Married with Golden Retriever Cassie. I live 25 miles outside of Boston. My lap-band date is June 30th. I can't wait. 5' 6" was 275 now 260. You will meet the Weight & BMI requirements. and you have the other Co-morbidities. The insurance may have their own weight loss requirements. Call them and ask them to get all the info sent to you or were to find that info online. Let me know how it goes. This site has very nice people willing to share all their info and help. I also go to the Sixties forum to relate to people my own age. Good Luck, CarolD':smile2:
  24. Hi Jennifer, I have been using Dymatize Whey Protein Isolate. I mailed away for mine but have seen it at GNC and Whole Foods. Rich Chocolate, Gourmet Vanilla and Cafe Mocha are my favorites. They mix easy and taste GREAT!! I Mix with 1% milk and will switch to skim during my Pre-op 2 weeks & post-op. Maybe we'll meet at Faulkner Support group?? Good Luck, Carol D'
  25. Oh My God are they the cutest little puff balls. I was a cat person all my life but hubby must have a dog. Cassie the golden retriever is great but I still miss having a kitty. Maybe in my OLD age!!!!!
