lucky1gg got a reaction from AMJK79 in Band to Sleeve Revision
Hello! I had Lapband in Dec 2009. HW 250? Got down to 199 at lowest.. Like many, I had success at first but then the complications set in. In April 2015 I had the revision to sleeve, primarily to just get the band out of me and not re-gain a bunch of weight. On revision surgery day I weighed 211 pounds. By October 2015 (6 months) I weighed 169 and felt GREAT... my lowest adult weight ever. I wanted to lose 25-30 more (I am 5'3"). Over the past year the weight has slowly crept back.... I weigh 189 today. I am going back to the basics.... Protein, Water and walking. My roommate and I had the sleeve on the same date. She had never had a weight loss surgery. We were the same height and she was about 10lbs heavier than me. She weighs 145 and looks amazing. We cook and eat the same things.... she is constantly snacking. I definitely think the second time around our bodies are holding tighter to the fat!! Best wishes. Just stay positive. At the end of the day, I am happy with my weight loss.... maintaining is hard and I live in fear of regaining to 250. I will be watching to see your success!!

Crybaby... I feel for you. We are in the same boat. I just can't lose with the sleeve. I lost 42 pounds in 8 months with my revision to sleeve. During the past 12 months I have wavered bw 175-185....which is the longest I have stayed that low in my adult life. I feel ok but I just do not understand why I cannot lose more. I live in fear bc my scale bounces up and down... each time creeping a pound or two higher then back down. So scared I will be 230-260 again.
I am trying to go back to Protein and Water goals which even though I can't eat large volumes I have not been meeting those goals lately. Stress is a BIG factor!
Don't give up.... we did all of this for a reason. Keep in touch!

Aussiegirl81 "One thing i will mention... as an ex bander... you will find you can fit a little more food/fluids than virgin sleevers... as we have less sensation in our esophagus because of the band.... so its important that we measure out food until we can adjust to reading the full signals..."
That is good to know. Thanks for that info.

These are good ideas. I've been running like a fiend, trying to train for 1/2 marathon in November, finally got to the point where I can run 5 miles. That is huge for me. But I'm not losing any weight as a matter of fact I've probably gained 5 lbs. Sooooooooo discouraging to be in my best shape, but not best weight. After spending some time reading here, I realize it is most likely because I've been subtly adding extra calories in the form of easy to eat slider foods, the crunchy salty variety and not eating enought Protein. Sneaky, how old habits will sabatoge your progress, no matter how hard you are working. Will try actively avoiding carbs, pack more high Protein Snacks in my lunch bag, perhaps then the scale will more match my work outs. Thanks again to all the folks here that post and offer advice.

    My quickie go to's:
    Cubed cheese
    tuna
    eggs
When I want a little crunch- Pork rinds
chicken Breasts (I roast a couple in the oven and then use for meals)
I got to the point of not liking Protein "shakes" so I went to Syntrax nectar. I usually drink one at some point during the day to break the Water blah!
I don't rely on those to get my Protein in but when on the go, they are quick to grab and lower carb.

Jerky is my savior.... turkey, pork, tuna, beef. I like all of them.

Also - just got into smoked fish (smoked salmon or tuna).

My favorite snack is a slice of extra thin low fat cheese (my favorite brand is extra sharp cheddar from Lucerne) with two slices of deli meat. Then roll them up and you have a Protein burrito (that is what we call them at my house). Two of these plus slices of cucumber and i am set for lunch!.

Also - I get the precooked chicken breast from trader joes or safeway (my local grocery store). Here is a link to the one at Trader Joes - http://www.traderjoes.com/fearless-flyer/article/1745.%C2'> These are in the deli section and I just slice them up with small pieces of fruit like a nectarine.

    Hope this helps.

Get those packets of flavored tuna, you can eat them straight out of the pouch. Do you have a Trader Joe's near you? They sell cooked, seasoned chicken breast strips of all varieties, like lemon pepper, teriyaki, chili lime, etc. You can just chop some up and put it in a baggie. You don't even need to refrigerate it if you are eating it on the same day. They also sell seasoned and cooked roast beef, pork shoulder, etc. They have great varieties of Jerky, like sweet & spicy buffalo Jerky. If you are willing to shop online, check out the Ostrim jerky sticks on Amazon -- they have sampler packs of all sorts of interesting jerky sticks, like habanero elk jerky or bbq ostrich jerky.
You can buy pre-cooked hardboiled eggs from Trader Joe's, they make a great snack.< /p>
If you like different kinds of fish, the little cans of sardines are portable, come in many varieties, and are great sources of Protein and all sorts of nutrients (Omega oils for your heart, Calcium, Iron, etc.).
    Good luck!

lucky1gg got a reaction from belindadcns in Band to sleeve in one surgery. Who's had it done that way? How long had you had your band? What was your recovery like? Any complications? Regrets?
I got my band in 2009 too. Just had my band-to-sleeve revision in Mexico on 4/27/2015. I am very happy. The band saved me health-wise so I can't regret it, but I was so tired of puking and feeling stuck and I was no longer losing. The sleeve has been great and I am losing again! Good luck... you won't regret it!

    1. Protein shake for Breakfast starts me off with Protein and its easy.
    2. Processed foods are not better ever (yes I still eat them but sparingly)
    3. lunch for me is cottage cheese or tuna and avocado
    4. I use myFitness Pal... I track even when I cheat!
    5. Protein and Water 1st.
    6. My biggest struggle is exercise

I got sleeved April 27th too!! I've been looking for other people sleeved that day lol we don't seem to have a thread. I stalled at 4 weeks out, and I've stalled again for the past week. It's so frustrating. I was put off of Protein Shakes because of the post-op liquid diet I just didn't want it ever lol. I got some Quest bars today, I hope those help me. I'm having trouble getting my Protein in sometimes.

I am also in a stall...I was sleeved April 27th and it is the first time that I have gotten on the scale and not lost an ounce. It is so frustrating!!!! The only thing I have done differently is that last week I did not get in my Protein shakes. I found that if I was drinking Water and eating there was not enough room for the shake. I went back to them two days ago and realized that they help me in so many ways. I have more energy, stay full longer and they help you go to the bathroom! I don't plan to skip them very often after figuring this out.
Also, I think the stalls are pretty normal from what I am reading. Seems like the body just wants to hold on to the fat because it thinks it is being starved. Don't fret and don't quit...we can do this!

    Good luck!

My goal is 75 pounds. I'm just 2.5 months post-op and am only down 22 pounds. I expected it to come off slower since mine was a band to sleeve revision and had less than 100 to lose

Hello I am new to this site. Just wanted to put my story out there, in hopes of encouraging someone who is as big a chicken as I am. I went through the whole preop test, appointments, classes, physchological eval, EVERYTHING... two years ago. Insurance approved, was scheduled for surgery, then backed out. I just couldn't do it! I really worried about post op pain and getting back to feeling well.
Well, after I backed out. Things never got any better. I was so disgusted with myself. The weight was really getting to me, my back, my legs, my overall well being, so I decided to try again. I went to a different doctor and had to go through everything all over. Of course it took a lot of convincing to get my husband back on track. Well, I had a wonderful doctor. (Dr. Aaron Hoffman at Buffalo General Hospital) I am 9 days post op. I had my gastric sleeve surgery on 4/9/15. Now I wonder why I waited so long. On my post op appointment 4/14/15 I asked Dr. Hoffman if I could hug him, and I did. So happy to start this journey and shed these unwanted pounds.

There are lots of apps that will tell you your ideal weight based on height and frame. I am 5'3" and medium frame. I want a BMI of 25 or lower, which is considered healthy. For me that is bw 126-135 lbs. My lowest adult weight was 172 and I am within 10 lbs of that today, so anything lower is a bonus to me! But goals are important for motivation and ultimately celebration!
