Stall nine weeks out

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. Sleeved April 13 of this year. I haven't had any complications during this whole process but am in what I believe is a stall in weeks eight and nine. I'm up and down by 4-6 ounces for almost two weeks. Up to then I was losing 3-4 lbs a week? It is frustrating because my eating habits haven't changed and I am walking 21 miles a week. I have a three month checkup July 8 so I hope the stall breaks by then. Don't know what to change to break this stall. Any ideas?

Some of the things I've read are to mix up your routine. Switch out some of your walking sessions for some strength training. And as strange as it sounds, try upping your carb intake a bit.

Others suggest staying the course and it will eventually pass.

My first stall happened while pre-op. (My surgery is Monday). It lasted 11 days and wasn't broken until I started my pre-op liquid diet. I was eating a low carb high Protein diet and walking about 25 miles a week.

Good luck!

I am also in a stall...I was sleeved April 27th and it is the first time that I have gotten on the scale and not lost an ounce. It is so frustrating!!!! The only thing I have done differently is that last week I did not get in my Protein shakes. I found that if I was drinking Water and eating there was not enough room for the shake. I went back to them two days ago and realized that they help me in so many ways. I have more energy, stay full longer and they help you go to the bathroom! I don't plan to skip them very often after figuring this out.

Also, I think the stalls are pretty normal from what I am reading. Seems like the body just wants to hold on to the fat because it thinks it is being starved. Don't fret and don't quit...we can do this!

Good luck!

Don't worry about it. It is a journey. Different for everyone. Don't let the scale take your power

Walcott,

Thanks for the suggestions. I almost think I'm not getting enough calories in. My daily intake is between 600-850 calories and I weigh every Protein meal and measure my vegetables and fruits - each 1/2 C once a day.

If you make adjustments I'd start small. Your body takes time to adjust and settle.

You will start losing weight again. My goal is to keep my carbs below 50gr a day. I honestly don't know what my calorie target will be but yours seems reasonable to me. I've been doing about 500 calories a day for the past 2 weeks and have been pleased with the results.

I agree with @@wascott and other who say switch up the routine. I broke my six week post op stall by adding more intense strength training and 200 calories of healthy fats (olive oil, avocado, etc). Also....in the stall I was losing inches from working out. That's a good thing! Weight loss isn't everything!

I got sleeved April 27th too!! I've been looking for other people sleeved that day lol we don't seem to have a thread. I stalled at 4 weeks out, and I've stalled again for the past week. It's so frustrating. I was put off of Protein Shakes because of the post-op liquid diet I just didn't want it ever lol. I got some Quest bars today, I hope those help me. I'm having trouble getting my Protein in sometimes.

Hey!! I am an April 27th date too! I was a band to sleeve revision and my roommate and I went to Mexico on the same date. She is losing faster than I am but from what I have read on forums that is standard. I am very happy with where I am. I had a long stall too, and I didn't change anything... just stayed the course. My scale is slowly moving again... but honestly even when the scale didn't show it, I could feel the progress in the way my clothes fit and my ability to cross legs, paint my toes, etc, We got this!!

It's so awesome to find people that were sleeved the same day! I searched for a thread in place for us but I didn't find any

Update. Finally last week I lost 4.5 lbs after being in a stall for three weeks. I didn't change my eating routine or my exercise routine and if anything cut back my walking by half. My lesson learned is to be patient, keep to the program, and just wait out the stall. This was my second stall but it lasted much longer than the typical three week stall I experienced.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
