  1. dmccarre... Sometimes if u drink too fast or take too much at a time it will make u nauseous. I am 2days out and so far no nausea, knocking on wood. Incisions don't feel all that great. I am finding it hard to follow the post op diet... I mean I can't eat everything they suggest. Hope u have a fast recovery.
  2. cristy906 Before I left the hospital the nurse gave me a Pepsin shot. I told her I had already taken a Prilosec in the morning, but she still gave it to me.
  3. Two days out with the band. One problem I seem to be having is...the meal plan they gave me is too much to keep up with. Every hr supposed to have protein shake or soup, or jello 4-6 oz, and in between drink my liquids. My incisions are pretty tender, and I know it's just temporary.
  4. Yeahhh I am now banded! Feeling great no nausea, and it took 45 min for the surgery. Dr told me I had a hernia so he repaired that too. I am a little sore around incisions, but not that bad. Good luck to all the other bandsters!
  5. angieboyd.... I have been drinking Bariactric Advantage. It came from the Dr with Vitamins and Calcium. I was never hungry, and it worked well for me. I had the choc and vanilla powder and was able to mix up a variety of tasty shakes.
  6. This site has kept me sane being in touch with others facing the same thing. I think we are making the right decision by banding and meeting up with each other on here.
  7. The vomiting is nothing like how we would vomit now from gagging or being sick, according to my banded sister, she says it is just food backing up and not the dreaded vomit.
  8. @ nancy_marie_00 What time is your surgery? Mine will be at 8am, so that means I must get up at 4:30, take an hour to drive to hosp, arrive 6:45. Having warm broth again, for dinner, nothing past midnight. Jitters. I am not backing out now, not after 2 weeks of just shakes and Jello. I don't even know how long surgery takes, forgot to ask. Good luck.
  9. Re: va_viv I hope we get some sleep tonight! lol:thumbup: I will be getting up at 4:30 am tomorrow, takes 1 hr to get there, have to arrive 6:45am, surgery @ 8. Of all things the weather is not good and rain predicted. I keep saying....whatever. Let it rain, we need it.
  10. Tomorrow's the day I get banded. Today I am on clear liquids only, nothing else. Well, Jello and sf popcicles. Nervous. :|
  11. Found it at Walmart with the other Tylenol products, and next to the Tylenol cold.
  12. Well tomorrow is my date for banding. My feet and hands are cold, I guess from anxiety! So nervous. Mostly nervous about the anesthesia and failing also afterwards. I am on all clear liquids all day, bummer, but I can do it. Drank warm broth for bkfst, and drinking Crystal Light right now, even tho It's freezing weather.

PB, I am hoping to hear how u are doing following surgery. I plan to post after I get banded. (Wed. 6th)
  14. I also get banded on Wed. Getting nervous but staying as calm as I can. I am thinking of the first day home and how I will be eating. Instructions say have something (liquid) every hour. Will anyone else be doing the same?
  15. For pills that I can't buy in chewable or liquids, I bought a pill crusher. Also, in my instructions it says I can take a pill if it is as small as a pencil eraser. I guess that means quartering a pill with a splitter. I bought a bottle of Tylenol liquid for adults last week. Surgery Wed and I am really anxious. Clear liquids only all day tomorrow.
  16. My Dr didn't give me a certain amount of weight to lose pre op. I have lost, but haven't weighed in a few days so not sure how much.
  17. You can't let others, no matter who they are, decide your health matters. She will either come around and see that u are serious, or not. Don't let her stand in your way. My sis was not happy when I told her, but that will not stop me. Other than her, the only ones I've told so far are my hubby and kids. No one else needs to know. Go ahead with your plans and she will probably mellow out. My surgery is Wed the 6th... getting nervous, LOL.
  18. Good luck fostermom. I go in Wed the 6th to get banded. Getting anxious and nervous. I hope recovery time is swift. We must be courageous to be doing this, or else to the point of desperation. This is my 10th day of pre op diet and for some reason today is the first day for me to actually be hungry and not so satisfied. Up until now, I have been full and not hungry.
  19. BostonPA.... LOL I can't believe u ate a big steak! I had 2 kernels of pop corn and I was feeling sooo guilty. You should be fine. Just think of the end result. What brand of shakes are u drinking? I am drinking 3 Bariatric Advantage shakes a day and am full most of the time. I have a cup of warm broth or some sf Jello in between if I feel the need.
  20. My daughter just had laparoscopic surgery for chronic appendicitis and she says coming home she had absolutely no stomach/incision pain at all. I will definitely take a pillow just in case.
  21. I just realized that I haven't even thought about what to wear coming home from surgery! Someone posted to wear loose clothing. Like what? I don't want to wear a nightgown, all my pants will most likely irritate the incisions. What's everyone else wearing? Also, I have an hour drive home.
  22. (ambatch) '...has anyone had a moment of feeling a bit panicked over what its going to be like to be thin?' Panic for me is failing, not so much how it will be to be thin. That worries me enough so, that I thought about calling the Dr and backing out. My surgery day is the 6th. The liquid diet has been easy. All finished with pre op tests, and ready to go.
  23. This is why I love this forum. Great suggestions. And it is sit down dinner. I will def have my protein shake just before leaving home. Most eve's after a shake, I am so full nothing sounds good to eat. Thanks.
  24. My dietitian gave me the option of baby food. Last time I tasted it, it was just too gross. Maybe these days it's better?
