  1. Up at the top of the page, there is a "communities" button. Put your mouse over it and you will see social groups, click and you will go to that and there are a lot of groups. Ours is right up top, being new...June 10 June Bugs with a cute bug picture. Hope this helps
  2. You start anew quite often in life, when you are born, when you begin school, when you graduate, when you get your first career job, when you move out on your own, when you get married (which is one part of life I do look forward to when God sees fit), when you have children (mine are adopted I feel I have to clarify that due to my non marriage status). When they grow up and leave the nest, when you retire. And then there are times you make yourself start anew like moving to a new city. But rarely do you go under the knife to do so, but that is what we lapbanders are doing. Our eating will change, our bodies will change and hopefully our outlook will change. I have always been one to meet to the challenge of change and this is just another turn on the road of my future. As long as I stay in God's will, all will be OK, yes there will be pot holes along the way, but after the bump I will travel on! Tomorrow, June 4 Is One of the New Beginnings In Gods Love and Mine ssmom
  3. 19 members, 90% to go. If you are not a part of this group, it works just like forum, but it is just us June Bugs. Please go and participate.:Dancing_biggrin:
  4. I am very happy to hear all is well with the ones who have been banded early this week. Mine is tomorrow. Dont forget to join social site under communties "June 10 June Bugs" to continue to keep up with each other:drool:
  5. my surgeon says 6 days of high high protein and low low carbs, then the day before surgery clear liquids. Really enjoyed my last meal, shrimp scampi and salad
  6. We have 12 members so far, OK the other 95% needs to get on board. Easy way for us to always stay connected as kindred spirits, all being banded in June:wub:
  7. It sounds you JUST became a bit more overweight than you are accustomed to, so don't jump into this lap band. It is not a quick fix, it is going to take work for you to get back to the 6 pack, so why don't you just try it a bit longer the regular way. This is for people who has tried over and over to loose and can't and they have a large BMI and it sounds like you are as "big" as you feel. So just hang in there
  8. our prayers are with June 3rd bandsters. Good Luck June 3rd dsinhouse ashley2369 JazzyRayne KBertinelli dallen
  9. Diahrrea, maybe not, but you will have to go to the restroom frequently. So I bet you need to get prepared for that. You will need to drink all your water too, so yes, there is a lot of liquid going into you, and some will have to come out.
  10. Hi, I am from Cullman just above you, if you are Birmingham AL. Your insurance is the determining factor of what needs to be done pre-op. Mine-PEEHIP BlueCross/BlueShield made me do 6 month primary care diet, then see a physical Therapist, a dietician and a Physcologist. My surgeon requires 1 week of High Protein LOW LOW carb diet before surgery and day before clear liquids. If you read seveal post on forum you will see all surgeons are different on what they require Pre-op. Hope this helps a bit....just ask a lot of questions to your surgeon!
  11. Under Community-Social Groups, I started a group for us, June 10 JuneBugs. I would like to see all of the wonderful people who are joining me this June on this journey to meet up there, to continue the great thread CandyRain started "Any June Banders?" We can continue to share our lives ups and downs there!
  12. Day 5 of pre-op diet, and I went coo coo over lettuce my girls ate up and didn't leave me any! I even cried over LETTUCE!! But, I appologized and found something else green to eat. I am just glad its summer and they can go outside and get away from me when those meltdowns happen! I weighed myself last night and was pleasently surprised that I was 11 pounds down already. That is such a nice sign of times to come. (I know I know it will be much slower and that is OK) I am telling everyone that cares anything about me about this move. Not to brag, but to make myself accountable to them (but they don't know that!) Being single for so long, have someone to be accountable to is crucial--I can cheat on myself and no one has to know, but if others know what I am striving for, I have to prove it them, but mostly to myself. Friday won't come soon enough, I am ready for this new life! In Gods Love and Mine ssmom
  13. Yes there is a bandster site on HOME page way on down, just for June 2010 bandsters, but it is not on the bandster page. SO if any one knows how to make a bandster page, lets all get on board! Just let us know when and where you made our group!!
  14. OK today is day 4 on pre op diet, and since I eat, I am eating just one meal a day, protein mostly. That means I have two more "meals" before a month of all liquids. So far 11 down, so I am definitly staying on this road to success!!!
  15. What about June Bugs???
  16. ssmom posted a blog entry in Blog 90798
So that means more time for ME and my girls. Hello, my name is Donna, ssmom to all you badsters. I am 42 in North Alabama. I am having my band next Friday, June 4th with Dr Kevin Cottingham. I have been over weight my entire life. I was chubby as a child, obese as a teen, and have grown to morbidly obese in middle age. I am a single mom, adopting my two girls when I was thirty, because I wasn't going to wait for a husband all my life (and yes I am still waiting) I am a teacher, a church leader, and a community activist so I am always in demand and on the go. But this summer I am focusing ON ME!!! I am going to really watch my diet, start walking, and stay on this blog and site alot! I have friends and family, and a growing numbers of them are being banded as well, but God has put me as a lone ranger most of the time, so this site keeps me in touch. I am beginning my pre-op diet TODAY. I gradually brought myself up to this point by replacing 1 to 2 of my meals with protein drinks for the past 2 weeks, so now its all protein with very small amounts of other. So if you would like to join me on this road, it would be much appreciated. In God's Love and Mine ssmom
  17. Also, there are quite a few June Bandsters under the thread "any June Bandsters"
  18. I am a June 4 person too. Going today for the pre-op surgeon appointment. Been doing two protein shakes a day and a lean protein/salad dinner each night. I have'nt gotten on the scale to see if that is helping, I am just going to be "surprised" when I weigh at the surgeon's office.
  19. I just got the call, June 4th will be my magical day!!!
  20. Every surgeon is different on the pre-op diet. But most do say a high Protein diet will help the surgery with the liver size decreased. The difference is it Liquid Protein or regular food protein. Good luck on your sleep study, I didn't have to do that.
  21. Hi Nicole, I will definitly be your buddy, but I know we need someone else that has already been banded for a while to ask questions. I have went through many of the hoops as of right now. Just waiting on surgery date.
  22. I am a 42 single mom. I teach in North Alabama. I have been overweight my whole life. At 266 I know I am pushing the envelope health wise, so LB is the way to go! I am more of a helper than a person who asks for help, so a buddy on here would be most appreciative.
  23. I went to the seminar back in September then in October began the 6 month primary doctor weigh ins. On April 1 my surgeon had all the records, but didn't send it off to insurance until the 6th. I received acceptance on the 20th, they didn't get theirs until the 23rd. That day I made my pre-baratric appointments and was lucky to get them all on the same day, May 13. The physical therapist and dietician said they would get notes to surgeon that day, BUT my psych said "within a week". So now I have to wait, have another appointment with my surgeon for pre-op, then begin my pre-op diet, THEN finally get a surgery date........:w00t: This is taking about as long as the adoption of my children!
  24. And I suggest to all of the ladies who are changing out winter into summer, go ahead and GIVE THEM AWAY! If you keep them, it will just be a reminder of the way you use to be, or are right now. You will need the room for the new clothes you will be buying soon anyway!
  25. Hello May bandsters, I am hoping I am one of you! I just received word yesterday from my surgeon that they received the yes from my insurance so I immediatly called for my Pre-op specialist visits. I was very lucky to get them all in one day, May 13. AND my surgeon's receptionist said my pre-op diet will only be 1 week, so I am thinking it will be the last week of school (I am a resource teacher) and since that week is a no brain work week, it would be PERFECT!
