Low Fat Low Carb
I'm looking for recipes or suggestions for low fat low carb items. I don't do well on carbs but it seems most things that are low carb are high fat and low fat high carbs. I find that if I eat more than about 20 gms my weight loss comes to a stand still. Anyone ideas?

my dilated pouch story, and why I still love my band regardless
I have to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. I've been totally afraid of pouch dilation. I always thought that if you had a dilation for awhile you would have to have it removed. I don't ever want to lose my band. Thanks again for clearing this up. I'm glad to see a "old timer" post. Your right, I'm sure about after the years go by you forget about us newbies. That's why I have to say thanks from all us newbies, and please don't forget us. Keep us informed on your progress. Best of days to you. Kaelin's G-Ma

Rant!
Susansilver, pats to you for just laughing it off. True friends are hard to find, is one comment worth the potential loss of a friend. It does get frustrating though. best of luck

probably should ask this in Food forum...but seems more response here...
I added 1 boiled egg to my tuna and put in my magic bullet, it actually was pretty good. I even put chottage cheese thru my magic bullet. My favorite though is charlies roast beef from the walmart deli with a tbsp of ff mayo and a touch of milk, warm or cold it was good.

New Member...still considering
Welcome Dannielle, I researched wls for several years just to make sure it was right for me. As for insurance I am a self payer but its the best thing I've ever done for myself. I'm newly banded but so far I'm lovin the results. Again Welcome.

Who Drinks soda?
I haven't had a real soda in weeks. I decide since some people have problems with it I would cut down so what I did is I added a little bit of water to my glass of soda ( I have to have Ice in a glass) I increased the water day by day until it was almost all water and maybe only 1/8 cup of soda. This way I had no headache problem and now I don't have any desire for a soda. You might try it. good luck.

Wash each potato, cut off ends and cut in half and in sticks. sprinkle evoo in bottom of sheet pan put tatos in pan turn to coat a little evoo then sprinkle a little salt over all and bake 45 minutes at 400 degrees. Thought someone might like this to try, I can't wait to try this.

Help, My story & Tj. safety warning
Thank you so very much for your kindness. As for the police, They do nothing but give you a piece of paper that said thy talked to you. We were told they are paid by the druggies and it seems to be true. The only reason my son was let go was because the rest of the gang had left to empty our bank account and had left the head druggie in charge of watching my son, after the others left he told my son that this is not the way we work, so he untied him gave his pants and shoes, offered to let him have some meth to recoup some of the money lost even told him to take it to police they would buy it, (like that would happen) took him out the back door and told him to go and not look back. my son flagged the first taxi he could find to get to the hospital, of course the driver spoke no English so my son told him the name of a hotel next to the hospital which the driver understood. I just thank the lord everyday my son is home and safe. I blame myself for this happening due to I have raised my children in a small town and they are to trusting. Never talk to strangers when in TJ, even when your 21 yrs old. I wondered if it would do any good to contact the American Embassy.

Help, My story & Tj. safety warning
My Dr's instructions say full liquids 5 days post-op then mushies 5 days on to solid food. I'm 18 days out and had no problem until today. I'm back to liquids for a few days.

Help, My story & Tj. safety warning
OK I got banded March 20th in Tj. Had a wonderful Dr and Staff to meet all my needs, but now I'm going through a depression so I'll tell you the story. While in Tj, my son was kidnapped, beaten, stripped of his clothes, had knife held to his throat. druggies took all his cash, debit card, emptied our bank account, took cell phone, thankfully after several hours the head druggie let him go with his jeans and shoes. I was in a panic when he did not return as scheduled. So this is the warning part, don't go shopping by yourself even if its only a few blocks from the hospital. We flew home which was hell on me. 6 days post-op I had a seroma that popped open and is still draining. 2 trips to the PCP 1 trip to ER, lots of antibiotics to make sure there is no chance of infection starting. Due to this I'm unable to do much. Can't bend over, stand up for any amount of time due to pain at port site seroma. I'm dropping on average 1 lb a day (which I should be pleased) but the depression of not being able to care for my family the way I think I should is killing me. As I've said before I have always been kind of a clean freak and kind of, some may say "super mom". What can I do to get out of this rut I'm in. I think some of this is just that it has all hit me the fact of almost losing my son, eating differently, and today taking to big a bite of chicken and not chewing enough and having the horrible pain and wanting to vomit but not, I finally burped a huge burp and then it felt like a golf ball went down my throat but no more pain. I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes and wondering if I'm the only one who has had this feeling. Please tell me this will pass.

Cost? I'm sure this has been answered before...
I went to mexico for my surgery and had no problem finding a aftercare Dr. My Dr. gave me a list of Dr's to call the first one I talked with said no problem. Yes you do have to fly back to Mx for your fills but for me it was still less expensive. If you book like 14 days ahead flight cost is like $200. rt from Spokane to San Diego for me, check your flight costs and compare. Dr. picks up at airport does fill w/ flouro and takes you back to airport. all in one day.

Finally in the TWO's
Congrats to You. I can't wait to get there. Getting closer everyday with average of 1 lb per day.

I was banded 3/20 and no matter what I do my port incision hurts. I called the dr, had my pcp look at it and they all say it's fine. I have a seroma so it seeps if I bend over or turn wrong. I hope it gets better soon as it's driving me nuts. Hope yours gets better soon.

Recovery time???
As everyone is different be prepared to take extra time off, just in case. I can't imagine going back to work at this point ( 9 days out). I feel pretty good but still have quite a bit of port incision pain.

Great Experience With Dr. Huacuz TJ. Mexico
I had my surgery the day before Seahawk freak and also had a great experience with Dr. Huacuz. On arrival we (my son and I) discovered we had forgotten our cell phone charger so Victor ran us by a phone place to purchase a new one. We arrived at the center to be grated by the Dr.,his wife and Norma. I was prepared for surgery after talking with some other patients who were leaving the next day. I really didn't even know anything had taken place. When I woke up I actually thought I had just fallen asleep. I was up a couple hours later walking the halls. The next morning I was given the most tasty Mango juice, the Dr. even sent a new jug home with me. Norma made sure my sons meals and mocha's were delivered each day, so he had no need to leave the center. I cannot say enough about the Dr and his staff, they are the best in my opinion. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Best Airline for Larger People
I flew Delta four times this last week and cannot say enough good about their service. The staff and flight crew were wonderful, they helped with my luggage, help me measure medications, arranged seating so I would be comfortable, met me at the curb and at each plane with a wheelchair, checked on me several times during flights and layovers. I flew coach and their service was better than any first class I've ever had on any other airline. As I said in my earlier post I will stick with Delta. I'm sorry to hear someone had a bad flight, it cold happen on any flight. For me their track record stills stands on TOP.

Hello ? about Mexico GLB
I had my lapband done by Dr. Huacuz in Tijuana. I paid 7500 and my own airfair. I was treated like a queen. My son went with me for support and he was treated just as well. They made sure he had his mocha and meals delivered everyday so he had no need to leave the center. it was a great experience. The staff is the best and the Dr Huacuz and his wife are true gems. Note : I had posted I paid $6000.00 for my surgery but forgot to include the $1500. deposit my hubby paid. All together it cost 7500. sorry for the mistake.

March '07 Bandsters Union
Wow small world I was born and raised in Lake Stevens. I'll be in Arlington on April 29th for a benefit poker run for my BIL who had a stroke. We'll all meet at Wellers at 10 that morning. See my post http://www.lapbandtalk.com/banded-bikers-ii-t29021p3.html?highlight=bikers+II Dr. Huacuz has rooms set up in the hospital for his patients to stay. One room for patient and one room for companions if needed. But I have planned to go to Revolution Ave on the 21. His driver Victor has offered to escort me to do some shopping. So I don't think we'll pass each other unless in in the airport. I'm flying Delta. But I would love to get together with others when I'm in the Everett area.

Does anyone else have the restaurant card?
Do all Doctors give these out. Or do you get them from somewhere else?
