Harry Potter Anyone???
"Hatchet" by Harry Paulsen comes to mind. The pliot dies and the boy has to confront the death early on and later in the book as well if I remember right. There was also this one book...a shipwreked boy and black man from the carribean are marrooned on some island and the boy goes blind and learns with from the man to survive but he man is killed in a hurricane. I can't remember the book or author at all for the life of me right now though. Ring any bells for anybody?

HELP!! What if I LOSE WEIGHT???
hmm...I am not sure what you mean by "project" losing weight itself is project IMHO. Maybe you can sign up to run a marathon or somthing like that. Start training for it while you are losing weight and exercising, and once you hit your goal that is what you have to look forward to. Did that make sense?

What kinds of tests you have to do before the surgury?
I am not too keen on having a doctor shove a camara up my butt for one thing. :peep: Aside from the basic blood tests/labs what do most doctors require? I am going to be self-pay so I think that will cut a lot of tests out am I right?

an offshoot of "Are you attracted to overweight people" thread..
first of all, SOMEBODY teach me how I make a poll on this forum, I am a forum vet but I can't figure this place out!!!! :faint: Anyways, The thread I mentioned got me too thinking (which may or may not be a bad thing considering what I am going to be talking about) , how many of you used to be skinny and then just gained weight due to kids, life changes, etc.? or How many of you have been overweight your whole life/long as you can remember? Also, for those of you who used to be skinny. Did you deride (best word I can think of at the moment for what I am trying to convey) overweight people? overweight persons and how did you feel after you became overweight when the tables were turned? Did you ever think about it that way? I am NOT trying to be mean and I understand that this may be an uncomfortable topic for some, however in my studies of human psychology this MAY help some by unloading some excess baggage on your mind "getting it off your chest" in other words. For those of you who did "make fun" or tease those of us who were overweight when you were younger or whatever I wish to convey this: *hugs* I forgive you *hugs* :cry I hope I don't get in trouble or raked over the coals for this thread

Mystery Bruises
Is it possible that you may be sleepwalking? I had the same problem for years and would wonder what the heck was going on. I had bruises on my arms and legs from walking into things.

-
I don't know how to make this a poll so...
I am wondering how many of you had long term (constant or reaccuring) physical pain from the lap-band in any part of your body? This is aside from the normal healing pains/itching etc.

Some lighter fare...
What is you fav. type of music? Are you a disco chick or maybe a hippie or do you love the grand ol' opry? Tell us what you enjoy! I like all types but am a Classic Rock/Metal person myself. I have been on a Elton John and Doors kick of late. How about books? You like romance? a little sci-fi? Action-Drama maybe? Me? I got enough books to start a small library (about 2500+ at last count with no doubles) With titles ranging all over the place :biggrin1: (None of that thinly disguised porn that some women like though :success1: )

Always the outcast???
I have always been the outcast and I had 2 strikes aginst me due to my weight and hearing aids (I do not live in the deaf world). So, hearing imparied + fat = Dumb and lazy according to the rest of the world. I became a introvert at such an early age I cannot remember even in pre-K being a people person or ever having freinds at all. So, once I hit 6th grade I began giving as good I got and then some. Make fun of me becuase of my weight or hearing? If they were male I beat them until I was pulled off or they passed out and then they were teased mercisly. If they were females I never hit them (Never have and never shall physically hurt a female) but I would tease and embarrass them until I got my point across. After a few years of this I did get my point across and everybody left me the hell alone. For those who think what I did was wrong, I give you the same answer I gave the principal of my schools: They only reaped what they sowed.
