    Post-op Day 19 (6/9)

I am so proud of you! And I saw you made it to Minneapolis -- hope the trip went fairly well for you. Take care, enjoy your time in the beautiful Twin Cities, and be safe!
  2. Your face shows so much weight loss between highest weight and post-surgery -- I know how lame this might sound but take comfort in that! The scale might not be moving, but seriously you look fantastic! Take care.....

  3. I'd like to join in, if its not too late! I've struggled with this weigh in thing and the scale and depression since the surgery. I am going to only weigh at Weight Watchers on Saturday mornings. So tomorrow is the day. But I know I didn't lose any weight -- I was on the scale at the gym yesterday and ended up in tears. I'm sure my new trainer is loving this. NOT. :frown:

    Caloric Intake, daily

I had a doctor's appt and nutritionist appt on Monday, about 2 weeks post-surgery. We got some solid numbers: 68-80 gm Protein 800-1200 cal/day I've been tracking, and agree with previous posts. If I eat less than 1000 calories a day I can't seem to lose weight. My body almost shuts down -- bloat, gas and general energy slowdown. I have restriction (3.5 cc in at surgery) but mostly reminding me to wait between bites and chew well, although I'm not really STARVING like I was on liquid only. I exercise 45 minutes a day every day. Can't do weights yet, but I've got the trainer at ready for first part of July when I get cleared to do so. My metabolism seems to be at zero. :frown:

    Something isn't Right

Thank you for your post, your English is fine! My pain is gone but the swelling is not. When I talked to the doc Monday he said it will go away in time be patient, so that is what I'll do. Pain? When I had pain I put an abdominal band around and it helped a lot. I got mine at the hospital, but I got a smaller one at the local pharmacy. Good luck!

    Something isn't Right

Started feeling lower left abdominal pain (nothing big just a little) on Friday). Saturday my friend who had seen me last week and this week told me my stomach looked really swollen. Yesterday I saw friends I haven't seen since the surgery and they said the same thing. And the pain is getting worse. Thank goodness I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon! I think its gas, but even Gas-X isn't getting rid of it. I was thinking maybe its muscles on the elliptical? But that wouldn't cause that much bloat/swelling? Well, we'll figure it out. Looking forward to the nutritional class and the appointment (and maybe a support group meeting afterwards). I'm glad I'm not back to work this week. After driving two hours to the party, sitting for a couple hours, I'm exhausted.

    Two Weeks Post Op

I had my surgery on Wednesday May 26th. I've done very well following diets, exercising, not stressing stitches or incisions. For the most part I am doing really well. I still have bloating and gas, but I can manage through either of those pretty easily. It will be nice when either or both are gone -- I think I've lost noticeable weight everywhere but my tummy :-) Its hard to get in all the protein. I might go to GNC today and see what they have for low carb high protein mix or shots. I don't like having to eat deli turkey just to get an extra 10 or 15 grams at night. I've gotten my hair colored and I did new makeup at Bobbi Brown yesterday. Treats to myself and doing things I don't usually have time to do. Although I'm doing several hours of work from home the next couple days, I'll be looking forward to going back to work. I'm not used to having free time and its not really that good for me right now?! Meeting with new LA Fitness trainer tonight to go over my new lifestyle. I'm not learning weights yet (too early), but we're going to mix up the cardio. Laughing. I'm a couch potato gone gym rat! Have a great day everybody. Love to all for the wonderful information, support and guidance! :bored:

    Two Weeks Post Op

Got it! I happen to live in one of the areas where the closest WalMart is 20 miles away, but it will be a nice drive today. I'll get a couple of each -- making shakes sounds so good! I find myself having to eat a package of Tuna or turkey meat to get the protein in and I have too much sodium intake so that is a great idea, thank you. I am so excited about this journey! Its 2 1/2 weeks old and I feel more energy and optimism than I've felt in 10 years :-).

Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Agreed. I somehow had it in my head that rapid weight loss would continue and once I changed my mindset it improved my outlook on this new LIFESTYLE immensely. I was thinking today "When was the last time I weighed this?" Its kind of fun to think about every couple weeks. Congratulations and thank you for the post!

    I am ready to move!

You are doing so well ss! I think 6 days out was when I started my elliptical and I feel really good doing it. So funny -- just joined the local LA Fitness yesterday, and got my "gym buddy" psyched to start together after work next Monday. I think part of the energy is just the euphoria from being over the surgery/pain and moving on!? Congrats :-)

    Day After

You are doing great! Congratulations on making a huge step in your life! Keep reminding yourself the soreness goes away very quickly and the healthy habits and opportunity you have are forever! It gets better, fast! Rest, enjoy some time off and take care of you.

    Recovering Slowly, but Loving Life!

Still swollen, still gassy, but I work around those "issues" and had a great day yesterday! Part of me would like to stay home another week and part of me knows I need to get back in the swing of work. I wish I could split myself! Keeping up with hard workout on the elliptical -- 8 days in a row -- and I feel good when I'm done lol. My bible study group met last night and had a great, uplifting visit. I had some strawberries and a Popsicle so I did well. I loved cooking and eating food again, even if it was soft. Had some beef vegetable soup my mom had made and froze for me, an egg scramble and some crab meat and tomatoes. Biggest challenge -- liquids. I'm going to try to keep better track today as I think I was way short of that goal. Happy Wednesday! :-)

    Feeling Positive!

Will do, thanks! Have a good evening.

    Feeling Positive!

Doctor's appointment went really well -- he felt part of my issue was two weeks of milk products and told me to go off the shakes and start on soft food. Incisions look good and my first fill is scheduled for 6/28! I got a chance to ask all the questions I had and then some. Dr. Oliak was wonderful. Also had a great nutrition class on how to eat -- not just the next couple weeks but forever. I started to look at this less like a weight loss competition and more like a lifelong journey. I need to live my life, eat and exercise to be healthy, and get over the daily drama I create about a scale or a piece of clothing. I have to go back to work next week. I have much to do before I do that, so the next few days will be busy. Happy Tuesday

Very inspirational, and congratulations on your accomplishments. I am seriously tired just reading about all that! Keep up the great work

MAY BANDSTERS ~ How are you doing?

Post-surgical doctor's appt today. Lost 16 lbs, just some residual swelling, bloating and some Water retention. Moved me to soft foods for two weeks, scheduled the first fill for 6/28!!! He told me I already have 3.5cc in the band which is amazing since I feel NO RESTRICTION. Also showed me pictures they took during the surgery?! I don't ever have to see those again! Looking forward to something other than Slim Fast for dinner :-).

    What Now??!!

I can't stop crying. I went to WW this morning and weighed and I only lost 3.8 lbs since last Saturday. I worked so hard at this and I'm so disappointed. There is nothing I can write or say that is going to make this better. I have a doctor's appointment on Monday -- the post op. Somehow I have to get through the next couple days and figure out where to go. I have never been so disappointed in anything in my life.

    Upset.....

Every day since the surgery I have periods where I feel like you do. Scared to eat because I might gain weight back, scared not to because it might mess things up. I was crying the other day to a friend and she told me to be happy I had the opportunity to have the surgery, and even if it takes longer, it WILL work. That helped for awhile. Last night I tried to picture myself gaining 5 lbs a month. Where I would be at Christmas. Even if I only lose 5 lbs a month until Christmas that's 35 lbs LOST instead of 35 lbs gained! At least a size or two! Have a good day! Hugs!!!!!
