  1. Welcome all Texans! It's so great to hear from those of us just starting out and especially from the ones who have BTDT (been there done that!). ANY info you can share with us is AWESOME!!! Happy Birthday, Bella, belated!
  2. North Texas here! I'm almost 35 and have a lot to lose too! I've just started my journey (consult last week) and this weekend I'm having my sleep study done. I'm hoping for a May-June surgery date!! Nice to meet you!! Are you married? Kids?
  3. LOL, thanks Monique!! Today 2 followers, tomorrow 2000! jk! Ya, I'm not looking forward to the crap in my hair. I plan on going to work that day! bleh!!!
  4. Hiya! Congrats on your near 30lb loss!! How's it going, being with the band?? Any tips or tricks to share with those of us just starting on this path??? Nice to meet youm btw!!
  5. Awesome! I LOVE CL! Thanks!!!!!!
  6. Yep, sure will! I'm sure I'll have a nice long rant, I mean blog post, about it! hahaha
  7. Hey Monique- I sent you a PM. Yep, same Dr. and I'm jealous you get to opt out of the sleep study, but NOT jealous that you're having to pay for everything. OUCH. Melissa is pretty confident that my INS will pay for it, but I just need to jump through a few hoops to get there. No biggie, I suppose! Once it's approved, I'm hoping to get it done soon. The longer out it's scheduled, the more time I will have to obsess about it. KWIM?! I'd rather just schedule it and get it over with!! Like you, I'm dreading the Optifast mess. What flavors are you going to get? I want to get a Magic Bullet that someone posted about so I can mix my shakes on the fly! SOOO not looking forward to that. Nice to meet you!
  8. Hey everyone!! I'm Trinity, 34, working mom to two beautiful girls and I'm at the beginning of my LB journey!! After having weight issues my entire life, I've decided it's time. I'm not getting any younger, OR thinner for that matter! haha To document the transition, I've decided to start a blog! Do you have a blog too?? I would love to follow, and get more followers too! I have one lonely follower now (shout-out A!). Here is mine!!
  9. Hey guys! I'm in NFW!! I'm going through the motions now to hopefully be approved by my insurance for a May-June surgery. I have my sleep study this Sunday night. Anyone been through it?! Nice to meet you all!! I've started a blog to document the happenings, and I would love more followers!
  10. Welcome Allie- I'm new to this site as well and just had my consult with the dr last week. This weekend is my sleep study, then the psych eval, and then finally the dietician visit. Then it's INS submission time. Like you, I'm SO excited, but yet so nervous I'm going to fail again. The pre-op diet has me a little worried, but I'm more concerned about the restrictions for the rest of my life. It's so permanent...but then again so is death...LOL Maybe we'll get banded around the same time! GL
  11. Hi Stephanie, I'm Trinity and I'm getting all my tests done now before they submit everything to the insurance company. I could be getting the surgery as early as next month! Congrats on making the decision to better your life. I know all about infertility as it took me almost a year to get pg with my second child and three failed fertility treatments too (Clomid). I think you're wise to get the surgery first and then try to work on getting pregnant. I was heavy during both pregnancies and with the weight comes complications. Not in every case, but I'm two for two on mine. Anyway, welcome and good luck!
  12. Hi! I'm Trinity and new to this board and am just starting out! Congrats on your surgery date. I can only imagine how you must feel. Excited and nervous at the same time!!! I hope it's the beginning of something great for you and I look forward to your future posts!! :smile2:
  13. Thank you so much, Gloria and lmd. YES, we are back in business with the spicy food!! I don't care if I can only choke down one jalapeno, I NEED to have spicy! Ya, I'm obsessed. Thanks also Gloria for the helpful info. Since I'm just starting out, and just joined this board, I have a ton of questions while I'm learning the lap-band lingo. There is so much to take in. Hearing the worst of it and knowing the obstacles we must face to achieve our goals is one thing, but when I see the smiles on the faces of the gals that have lost the weight, it reminds me of how I want to feel when the weight is off. I haven't had a chance to, but I will certainly be checking out your blog. Thanks for posting some inspiration for the rest of us just starting our journey. Congrats on your loss and maintenance!! That's awesome!!
  14. Hi, I'm Trinity and I had my first consult with the surgeon yesterday (4/7). After being overweight my entire life, I've finally decided to make the call and take action. I have two beautiful daughters and I'm doing this for them, only slightly less than for myself. I have an amazing DH who is very supportive of my goals. I'm 34yo and my BMI is 48.2. I know if I carry on like this, I might not make it to 40. I'm fortunate that my insurance will probably cover most of my surgery, but right now I'm already scheduled for the dietician visit and my pysch eval (to find out how crazy I really am! haha). I'm probably looking at a May-June surgery date. I need to do the sleep study and then get my letter from my PCP, but that's the easy part. Funny, last May, along with my birthday, I was celebrating the birth of my second daughter and recovering from a C-Section and Gall-Bladder removal surgery! This year, I'm celebrating my daughter's 1st birthday and hopefully recovering from LBS! I hope May 2011 will be surgery-free!! I'm struggling right now with several things and I hope I'm not alone. Whom do I tell and when? Scream it from the rooftops, or tell friends and family AFTER it's already done?? When should I tell my employer? Is it any of their business? How am I going to go two weeks on Optifast alone?? I couldn't even do slimfast shakes for a few days!! Will I ever be able to eat spicy (Mexican) food again? I love my spicy food. Do I want to deal with food being 'stuck' and 'PB'<--- what does that mean anyway?!?! Thanks everyone, I hope to meet some great people whom I can travel with on this road to a healthy us! I will be starting a blog soon to chronicle this major event!
  15. Hi, I'm new around here and just wanted to say goodluck tomorrow!!! We're the same age and about the same size so I'm wishing you a fantastic experience and hope you get awesome results!!! -Trinity Mom to two sweet little girls 4/7 First Consult wDoctor 4/30 Psych Eval
  16. Thanks Dawn (I read your blog!) for the encouraging words! Of course I had a ton of questions, but for the most part the consult went really well!! They think my insurance will cover most of the procedure, but I do have to jump through some hoops to get there. From what I understand, or what I seem to be reading, it seems normal. sleep study, psych evaluation, dietician visit etc... If everything goes as expected, I could be having the surgery next month! Exciting, but I didn't think it would happen this fast!! Well, nice to meet you and forgive me if I ask you a million+ questions!! -Trinity
  17. Hi, I'm new here and I think I'm going to go find me one this week!! I have an 11mo old whom I make all of her baby food in the food processer, but I think we all might benefit from the MB!! Thanks for sharing and I'd love more pre-op & post-op recipes! Starting my journey tomorrow! 4/7 First Consult with Dr. -Trinity
  18. Tomorrow I have my very first consult with the Dr. I'm nervous and excited at the same time! Anyone have any words of wisdom??? I'm Trinity, 34, married with two beautiful little girls whom I want to see grow up.
