Hmmmm...Introduction Please!
Hey thanks everyone!! I have the one daughter, who is 1, and then I have another who is 7. The lights of my life! I can't wait until I can crouch down on the floor to play with them and not feel like I need a forklift to get up! haha  Robbie Lynn- Thanks for the note about the 4 days being enough, same to you, Rhonda. I'm hoping that's enough because with my baby, I'm just about out of vacation time and it's only May. :/

Hmmmm...Introduction Please!
Hi Rhonda! Congrats on your weightloss so far! I'm new to the journey myself, and awaiting approval from my INS. How has the healing been, a week out from surgery? My surgery will be on a Tues and I plan on returning to my desk job on Monday. Is it possible?? Congrats again!

Got my new date
THANKS! I think a lot can happen with a positive attitude and it sounds like you have one! So, YES! It will work out great!! It does sound like you have a decent doctor who listened to his better judgement and decided not to risk infection. Some doctors may have gone ahead anyway, kwim?! If we're not August band-buds, then I hope we're at least summer band-buds!

Got my new date
Good luck to you! I read what happened last time and lightening can't strike twice in the same spot, can it?! I hope not, that would suck bigtime and I would take that as a HUGE sign from the man upstairs that you aren't supposed to have the LB!!! I could be an August bandster, not sure yet! Congrats on your date! You're one up on me!

I got a surgery date!!!! - May 27th
Congrats to you both!! Are you both doing Optifast?? I'm sure that's what I'll be doing for two weeks. Ugghh Let me know which flavors taste best!!! GL and it's the beginning of the new you(s)! haha

Need a little Support and Advice
My two cents. There is a reason you aren't together. Take that combined with the sentence that he won't be supportive and I say MOVE ON. He can still be a part of your child's life without having to have any imput on yours. Remember, this is for YOUR health and for your child to have a mom. Honestly, don't be surprised if he wants to be all supportive and lovey when you're all skinny. That's when you REALLY need to get over him and move on! Good luck!!

To Tell or Not to Tell?
You're right, it isn't any of his business, and maybe I will second guess that one. I will let him know of a medical issue that needs to be addressed. That's the truth, isn't it?!?! I think my co-workers (ladies) would be supportive to my face, but then not be so nice behind my back. I don't know, they could surprise me. What we do have here is two severly obese people at work (we're talking like 450+ and 600+) and I think unfortunately they might get the spotlight focused on them to "go do what she did". Know what I mean? That's on them and I won't concern myself with their weight issues. I have my own to deal with! LOL

Approval in Process...FINALLY!!!
Well, it better be at least!! I got a call yesterday from the surgeon's office saying they were waiting for one peice of info from their in-house nutritionist and once they have that, they can submit to my INS. THANK YOU GAWD!! They said it takes 30 days to hear something back, but then when I asked if it REALLY takes that long, she said no, normally two weeks! My birthday is at the end of the month....wouldn't that be an AWESOME birthday present?!! I think so!! heehee Anyway, just wanted to shout my good news! (since I can't update my blog. Grrrrr)

To Tell or Not to Tell?
I'm struggling with the same issues. Wanting to tell, but not wanting the pressure of telling certain people. I'm not going to blast it on FB, that's for damn sure!! I mentioned it to my mom and made her swear to keep her big mouth shut. So far, so good, but I doubt she's keeping up her end. She lives out of state. The women in my family have very loose lips. They mean well, but I don't hold my breath that the rest of the family doesn't know. My DH's family are local and I'm sure I'll tell them when the time comes, but not a minute before. I think they will be pleased as I know they only want what's best for me. My dilemma is with my coworkers. I'm one of the youngest in my office of about 30 people. A small office. The older ladies love to gossip and I see the looks when I bring in fast food for lunch. I also see the looks when I'm eating a Lean Cuisine. It never fails, they are the food police now and I know it would only get worse if they knew I was getting banded, or when I am banded. I plan on telling my boss (only for time off reasons), but I'm going to swear him to secrecy too. Once I'm banded, I will decide who to tell on a case by case basis. Like others have said, it's a personal decision. Good luck!!!

Tossing the Scale??
Thanks everyone for the advice! I'm still waiting to be approved so I have a little while to see how I'm going to handle the scale issue. Like some of you mentioned, while I was on WW is when the madness really started with the scale. Everytime I used the facilities I ended up weighing and obsessing. I'll see what happens and maybe just hide the scale, or just make it less accessible! Thanks again!! Oh, and Manda- My real name is Trinity and my friend just made that name siggy for me since I LOVE Twilight too!

LB Pain vs. C-Section Pain?
Thanks PMommy! I'm a P mommy too (and I'm from LA). So your tummy must look polka-dotted like mine. LOL The next time I meet with the surgeon, I'm going to see if it's possible to use the same incisions with the LB. Won't hurt to ask. NOT that I would be ruining my bikini body any further (HAHA), but if not to add to what's already there, if he can help it. KWIM?! It's the least of my worries. LOL Thanks again everyone for all of the advice!! As long as I have some vicodin handy, I think I will be fine!

Tossing the Scale??
I'm SOOO putting the cart before the horse as I haven't even been approved for surgery YET, but for those banders... Is there anyone who stopped weighing themselves right after the surgery?? I'm thinking about ditching my scale and just relying on the office visits to know the digits. I'm thinking about going strictly by the way I look and the way my clothes fit. Am I crazy?!?!?! I'm one of those people that when on a diet, I will weigh myself several times a day like a maniac!! Then when I'm not dieting, I don't go near the scale for fear of it. I would love to hear your thoughts!! TIA!

100 pounds-gone forever
Congrats!!!! I'm in Texas too and am just starting out in my journey!! Like you, I have two little kids that I need to be around for. I would love to hear about how you think you reached such an amazing milestone, while others don't seem to be that successful??? Awesome and congrats on losing the 100lbs!!!

LB Pain vs. C-Section Pain?
Awesome, thank you so much for putting my fears on that issue to rest! It's great to hear from BTDT (been there, done that) moms!! I went to see my PCP today and he brought up a good point that I didn't think of. Since I've had a CS and my gall bladder removed lapriscopically, do you think scar tissue will get in the way of the LB procedure?? Anyone BTDT with the gall bladder??? Thanks in advance!!! :bored:

LB Pain vs. C-Section Pain?
Thanks for the info! I had a feeling it wouldn't be as awful as a C-Section, but I'm a total wimp when it comes to pain! LOL I didn't think about the not being able to lift anything for 6wks. That's going to be a challenge since I take my DD to and from school every day. Hmmm, guess I'll have to have DH do that! I've been doing it for over 7yrs (we have two kids), I think he can handle six weeks! hahahsh

LB Pain vs. C-Section Pain?
Has anyone had both, and how would you rate one over the other???? Hi, I'm Trinity and I'm in the approval process of the surgery. I had a C-section last year followed by a gall bladder removal surgery two weeks later and needless to say, May of 2009 SUCKED (except minus the birth of my baby!). Any advice?!?! Thanks in advance!

Starting my journey
Congrats for all of you pre and post banders! Allie, congrats on your surgery date!! You HAVE to keep me posted. I have my dietition appt on Friday and then I guess they will submit to my insurance. I'm hoping for a late May/early June surgery date. My bday is on the 26th and I want to be able to chow down for this bday!! I didn't last year (get to go Celebrate at my fave restuarant) because I had an unplanned c-section and my gallbladder removed!! This year I'm counting on being able to celebrate (with food) at least ONE last time!!

Nightmare Weekend & My Breakdown
OMG, I'm so sorry to hear about your son and his friends and the poor baby. Your son might benefit from some counseling as I'm sure it was very traumatic for him. I hope for healing for all involved, and minimal stress in the following months. You did awesome under the stress, btw! Congrats for not cracking. Not so sure I could say I would have done the same, but you held up beautifully! I don't know if you blog, but you should start one. Despite the tragedy of the story, I was cracking up at your writings. 'Crying so hard you choked on your carrot'. Genius. :scared2:

Sleep Apnea study question
Thanks Sandy for the response! I'm fortunate that I don't have to do that whole 6mo monitoring with the doctor. I do have over 3yrs of proof of my weight issues, so I'm able to go on the 'fast track'. Thank goodness! In fact seeing that my BIM is so high, plus being on blood pressure meds, plus having a family history of Type 2 Diabetes, and having gestational diabetes during both of my pregnancies...I think my insurance company would be idiots NOT to approve me. Thank you again!

Sleep Apnea study question
My surgeon recommended I have the sleep study done before they send my info to the insurance for approval on the LB surgery. Well, I got a call today that I DO NOT have obstructive sleep apnea. Do you think I will still get approved for surgery, or did I just lose my 'golden ticket'?? Thanks in advance!
