My boyfriend was not supportive at first and he told me why. He figures ill die from the anaestesia or leave him because im skinny. Ive tried to get him to diet with me many times without success. It is very hard having him eat and eat and eat and i cant. I explained to him that for my age i am almost morbidly obese and repeated myself many times haha. Tell him its for yourself and if hes supportive he'll have nothing to worry about! As for the ladies whos boyfriends compete and/or eat as much as possible. Tell yourself how much better you can be and more mature you are than them. personally if it was me, id say pack your bags. but thats just how i roll

If you are not approved and really want it you could always go to a private lap band doctor. Lots of people go to Mexico and its half the price, but do your research. I think Dr. Ortiz was on Oprah that seems legit.

Agreed. I am 22 and 215lbs now and i am obese because im only 5'3. It is still hard to lose weight when youre just over 200. My advice to you is that if you really want it, youll do it. Post op, when youre looking at that bag of chips or cookie jar think of that bikini or shorts or tank top you seen in the store last week that you couldnt even imagine wearing right now... How about that winter jacket you cant buy because you look an extra 30lbs. Im getting banded may 26th and im stoked. Ill be able to go swimming and not run to the pool with embarassment or go to jamaica without my sweaters! What motivates you to lose weight? Ask yourself how much you want it. It is a tool. I was told to eat all your healthy food and when you go to eat that chocolate bar think about how full you are and you wont even want to eat it.. Also what i did, is i started eating small small healthy meals each day just to prep myself for post op. So ill eat a small bowl of Cereal for Breakfast, then an apple/banana for a snack cause ill be starving, then lunch a piece of fish and if i have a chocolate craving ill eat it.. but maybe only half. Prep yourself now for the post op. Im more worried about the pre op diet lol 2 shakes a day, brutal!

So today was my first day setting up a date and possible flights to get surgery in mexico! I WAS excited.. My mom was all supportive, but maybe we are just uneducated about this sort of thing.. OR maybe my nurse is paranoid? HELP I started to cry when i was talking to her, because all i want is to be skinny and wear what i want, when i want and of course go swimming! She said WE CAN DO IT TOGETHER! mmmm yaaa i have a lot of people i could do it with, its the fact that its all going to come back and i have no faith anymore.. Weight watchers, jenny craig, curves, regualr gym, home gym, dog, energy pills, weight loss pills, protein shakes, protein bars, smaller portions, more fruit, bought bikes, lean cuisines... the list goes on... I have tried every last one of these... It doesnt help that the bf wont try to eat healthier... he doesnt neeeed to.. lame Hey! So I just talked to my nurse at work and she thinks im absolutely insane for even thinking about going to mexico... She asked if I ever thought about getting aids, hepatitis, not being able to get back to canada if they messed up and i became terribly ill.. She asked if the doctor was accredited and if i ever wondered why it was so much cheaper to do it there rather than canada.. I ask my doctor yesterday if he would recommend me going to Mexico for surgery beacuse its soo much cheaper. He said if it were him, he wouldnt... SO with that being said, has anyone gone to mexico for their lap band? Did you feel it to be safe, legit? how long did you have to stay there? and how much were your fills in canada afterwards? Id much rather pay 6000 than 16000....

Tell them you took vacation! when they ask where just say to visit family! that would work right?

I told two of my closest friends and they looked at me like i was crazy for even thinking about it... I told my boyfriend and he looked at me the same way! If you cant tell these people, who can you tell? After that I second guessed the operation.. On the other hand my mom gives me full support! When I do get it done, I wont be telling anyone.

Hey so you ended up getting your WLS in mexico eh. How much did that cost? How long did it take? Was it just one trip? and how long did you stay in mexico? Do you regret getting it done in mexico and were you allowed to bring a family member?

so you just started, and you figure it will take 9 months before surgery??

All those WW people are probably looking into WLS as we speak.
