  1. Hi Brian and welcome, I hope we can provide a little support for you as you start this journey. Its been an amazing thing to have all these people here right at my finger tips every time I get nervous or freaked out. It sounds like you have three very important reasons to choose the healthiest most successful approach... and I'm convinced the sleeve is just that. Your obviously a person of very strong character and I have no doubt you will make this a fabulous success story. take care stacey
  2. 2 questions lis 1) when will you (the skinney lady) sing... how far out will you feel safe 2) when you have heard of people having these undetected leaks were there any symptoms at all. Maybe in hindsight people could come up with a warning sign. :thumbup1: thanks stacey
  3. I had a lot of gas post op and didn't want to injest ANY more. I would take a sip and then hold it in my mouth till it all settled (10secs or so) and then swallow. It seemed to help. I'm 12 days out now and its not such an issue.
  4. My surgen uses a 32 F but I asked him to go bigger since i was starting with a low bmi. He ended up using a 38 and so far I'm pretty happy but its early to tell. Like tiff says.... it probably doesn't matter much but it made me feel better. I don't know a lot about this but I thought I read somewhere that they used to use 50-60 fr and weight regain was an issue? I might have that wrong but it would be worth looking into. I bet tiffikins knows the real stroy here. stacey
  5. I'm wondering the same thing. If its not broken why fix it?
  6. Thanks I knew if anyone was going to have the low down on leaks it would be you:cool0:
  7. Interesting heartonmysleeve I was perscribed ppi's for 60 days as a preventative measure. I have experienced zero acid. I wonder if I'm askng for trouble
  8. I can't get down the same amount of protein as I could two days ago. Only a few sips and its uncomfortable.
  9. thanks tiffikins I have a little pain this morning.... well....not really pain. I think I just have gas.
  10. How do you know if you have a leak. I have discomfort from time to time, just getting used to the sleeve. Is there a specific sensation that is associated with a leak?
  11. Thanks Cajun Whats and average dose of Zinc....
  12. What about incisions..... will waterproop bandaids work???
  13. Yea... I should probably wait. I don't want to do anything crazy... I'm just ready to get this show on the road!! thanks stacey
  14. Kalew mentioned zinc.... maybe we should all up our intake
  15. I am thankfully feeling pretty good post op. I have a little soreness still but thats about it. I am getting anxious to start exercising. I've been hiking and walking etc... but I belong to a club just down the road from my work. I was going on my lunch hour every day before surgery and I'd like to return. Its just a "curves" type circut workout. Its not super strenuous but there is some lifting and pushing and pulling etc. My doc said lite exercise after 3 weeks and whatever I want after 6. Anybody know if Curves = lite? :biggrin0:
  16. Wow Bambi At 3 and a half months you may be past the danger zone. I've been getting between 40-60 grms of protein.... I'm definately upping to 75. Did you take Biotin?
  17. Yea Dalisgirl. I'm so happy for you. You seemed so down after that last run at Mexacali. There's no turning back now.... Your new life awaits. Stacey
  18. Dont worry guys.... it goes away. Your body is just trying to get the surgery gas out.
  19. I was in the hospital for 2 days then at a hotel in Mex for 1 night. It wasn't till I got home.... day 4 that I started to feel okay. It got better every day... went for a small hike on day 6. My abdomen is still a little sore but thats about it. :tongue_smilie:
  20. I really really really want to loose ALL the excess weight
  21. Sleep tight Carla. It gets better every day.
  22. I don't know heartonmysleeve. I feel lucky that I had the glue too, but I did have a drain tube. here was a woman in the hopsital with me (same surgeon) who didn't have a drain tube. We asked the nurse and she said that during the womans surgery there was not much drainage and her insides were very "clean" so one wasnt needed. I don't know exactly what that means, and we were struggleing a bit with the language barrier.... thats all I know.
  23. Welcome Your one tough chic so this should be just another bump in the road for you. Life is really very good after surgery.
  24. WOW... you are truly striking! What an awsome dress. Sometimes it seems hard to believe that I could be tiny but just look at you!!!!! Hot Dog Sista
  25. TBtroy I assume your question is when can we exercise. I really really want to start doing something but we have so many restrictions right now. I have been going on short hikes with my dogs but I want to work up a sweat. I was a real exercisor pre op and I miss it. I don't want to chance anything going wrong though. I also worry about getting dehydrated with strenuous exercise at this point (I'm 9 days post op). What did you doc give you for guidelines? Mine said walking any time lite exercies at 3 weeks full exercise at 6 weeks I thought about swimming too but its bad for the incision sites.
