  1. I was scared too. I wondered how I would even make it home on the plane having nothing but a sip of apple juice in the morning. Pre surgery I would get shakey and almost panicky with low blood sugar if I didn't eat. I seriously couldn't function. I can't tell you how weird it is to eat 600 calories and feel just fine.... go hiking even. You'll love it!!!!!
  2. Your gonna do great tomorrow. Its weird but I bet you don't miss that diet coke one bit. Now beer is another thing.... I may try to have one again someday
  3. Thanks for keeping us posted. Give him all our well wishes. Stacey
  4. Thanks for your response. My surgeons guidlines for eating are "Protein first" which makes sense, but I like whole grains, legumes fruit etc. Like you, I ate pretty healthy before, just too much. Thanks Stacey
  5. HI all, I'm just wondering what everyones experience has been with food programs post sleeve. Did most of you intentionally restrict carb intake or did you depend on the calorie restriction provided by the sleeve, or some other method. I'm curious about your reasons for choosing what you did and your experience with stalls, energy, etc. I can't really eat yet and there are days when I think that I should just eat what I want (no white carbs obviously) and let the sleeve do its thing and then there are days when I think I should carefully count carbs to ensure success. Pre sleeve I always felt good on a low glycemic plan even though I didn't loose any weight. thanks for your input Stacey
  6. I'm sorry guys.... I know it sucks. Slow and steady is more healthy... but I know thats not what you want to hear.
  7. I dont know how long we're supposed to take it. I guess a few months... till we get past the hair loss scare. I found a chewable biotin by "Solaray" and its sugar free.
  8. mine down too.... sleep well all
  9. just out of curiosity what type of food program are you following. Are you low carbing it or just letting the sleeve restrict your calories? Haven't decided which way to go yet thanks stacey
  10. Yea... I was warned that the low bmi folks shouldnt expect the same big losses.
  11. I felt good enough to go back to work but my swollen belly made getting into anything but sweatpants difficult. The thing is.... I kinda wish I hadn't taken as much time off as I did. Its not really that great for your state of mind to sit and stew. I considered going back early because I was spending every minute of every day thinking about protein and water weightloss etc. I would have been better off filling my water bottle with protein for the day and sipping as I went about my work.
  12. All good thoughts coming your way
  13. yea booklean... its crazy. I came back from surgery much begger than when I left. My whole abdomen was swoolen and hard and I was retaining IV fluids. It didn't really start to dissipate till day 9 or 10. Its normal. Some people just swell more than others. Lots of water and walking helps. take care stacey
  14. between my chewable vitamine, calcium chews, benfiber, Omega3 chews etc... I get a LOT of carbs. I think the benefiber powder doesn't have carbs... I've been chewing the pellets. I may be getting to the point where I can take pills and eliminate some of the chewables but man they are packed with sugar.
  15. swiftflow... let us know how your experiment turns out. It would be great if we could prevent stalls. Also its probably healthier for our metabolisms if we can keep our calorie intake a little higher.
  16. Your right in the middle of the hardest part right now. Once your on the other side you wont believe it was ever this much of a struggle. Hang in there.... your almost home!!
  17. Did you guys worry about carbs post op? I am on full liquids and can have pureed stuff. I feel like Im eating a lot of carbs but I'm just trying to get nutritious food in. For example for lunch today I had a quarter of a baked sweet potatoe pureed with soy milk and powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup mix (tasted better than it sounds). In 7 says I go on a soft diet and I kind of figured that would be the time to start counting carbs since I will be able to have fish and eggs and what not. What did you guys do? stacey
  18. Yea me too. I knew it would happen (thanks to all you guys) so i'm mentally prepared. I told myself that the first day i didn't loose I would take the batteries out of my scale. I just cant stand the torture of a stall. I have tortured myself too many years with that stupid scale. Its once a month weigh ins for me
  19. Good news on the PPI thing. I have am waiting for an answer from my doctor as to whether or not I can stop. I don't have acid and see no need to fix what isn't broken. Keep overachieving!!!! the more Water you get the better you will heal and the fresher your skin and eyes will look. Your kidneys and liver are working overtime and getting flushed with water is helping them do their jobs better. All that Protein will help you keep your hair. I think they give the guidlines thinking people will strive for that but probably won't get it all in. Dont kill yourself over it though.... stress interfers with healing. Keep up the good work.... be good to yourself take care stacey
  20. I have had limited restriction with water since very early on. I am on full liquids now and can't eat more than a couple of bites of my pureed meals so the restriciton is definately there for other things. I think water moves through us pretty fast and honestly, I'm grateful. I love water. I think its pretty normal.
  21. Angie.... what your doing is perfectly normal. I was absolutly insane the days leading up to surgery. I was so scared and full of "is this the right thing" "its forever" type of thoughts that I started to tear up in the elevator on the way to check in to the hospital. I was freaked out right up until "lights out" and i haven't had one regret. I don't know if there is anything to do for that crazy overthinking that goes on before hand.... just sit back and know it will be behind you soon. I wouldn't worry about chanhing flights and geting the perfect protein and all that jazz. If there's a problem I'm sure Dr Aceves will accomodate. You'll just make yourself crazy worrying about it. I didn't use Aceves but from what I understand you couldn't be in better hands.
  22. Interesting. I wish I had heard of it before. I had a lot of swelling but I'm pretty much past it now. I hope it works for you.
  23. Gees Driver. I havent' had the same issue but my thoughts certainly go out to you. I hope your home soon and getting started on your new life. 80lbs down is great even though its a hard way to go. Hang in there Stacey
  24. I'm not very far out yet but I'm jumping on this thread because I love reading all your NSV. Hopefully I'll have some soon!!!
